I had one charge me once in 1992 in Alberta while fly fishing. A real charge where he ran up onto the railway tracks I was on and made 100 yards in what seemed like three seconds. He skidded to a halt about 10 feet from me, head down, ears back. I threw my brook trout right at him and he let me live. I slowly backed away and then when out of sight, ran to the car and drove straight to the pub. Was the best tasting beer I've ever had.
The first bear looked like a female that was concerned about the big male behind her. She kept looking back and was running from him, not charging you. Still, a close encounter.
You did a good job staying calm (especially with no means of defending yourself from an attack). But honestly, I would have bought some pepper spray before going on that hike.
The first bear ran towards you to tell you to film horizontally.

“Go away bear.” Lmao that was the calmest thing I’ve ever heard 😂
forget fear, that bear would have smelled the shit in my pants
"They say a bear can smell fear. I don't believe that, I think they can smell stupidity. I'm gonna get off the trail"
That’s the single most Canadian bear encounter ever. Hey there big fella would you mind terribly not eating me? Thanks bud.
I was waiting for the other bear to come up behind you........
Does it hurt walking around with them huge balls? Cause... like... yeah.... I would have cried like a little girl

“Welp there’s another bear.” Staying home looks pretty good to me!
Apparently you say "Hey bear, go away bear."
Quite possibly the most calm/collected person on this planet right there
I love that line he says-
The 2nd bear is huge. Looks to be well over 600 pounds.
You showed a lot of courage and strength can’t believe how calm you were. Good job
I admire the way you spoke so courteously to him. A kind word often turns away rage.
“I think a bear can smell stupidity “ I can’t believe you were calm enough to think and say that.
I WOULD HAVE PASSED OUT FROM FEAR. Not sure how you stayed so calm.

Nerves of steel - great encounter and good to see everything worked out. Thanks for sharing.
