The Replacements story has to be one of the most relatable ever. I come from a family similar to the Stinsons, including deaths due to drugs, jail time, etc. Tom seems like such a cool dude for all the shit he's been through. Rest In Power, Bob.

I say it on numerous Replacements videos, but Chris Mars is one of the most underrated drummers in rock music

Thanks. I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't give a shit about Marc Maron's boring life.

I understand the importance of The Replacements, but he doesn't even mention that Tommy was in Guns N roses for over 15 years in the intro, lol

He wasn’t really in Guns N Roses, it was Axl Rose’s solo project piggy backing off his old bands name for money

Tommy was very much in Guns N Roses, playing on "Chinese Democracy," and throughout the tours subsequent to that record.

If you read The Replacements Wikipedia page in Chinese for three minutes, you'd know more about the band than Marc Maron.

In terms of the reputation you guys have- for just fuckin' off -how did that unfold? MM classic. Tommy and Paul -made it thru the dysfunction of family , the Replacements ,and the record industry - and landed upright , how fucking glorious. . Rest in peace hard Bob.

People don’t come to see just Axl’s voice, they come out to hear those SONGS (most of which Axl didn’t write), hear the sound they heard on the recordings, as well as the brand name “Guns n Roses” most people aren’t aware of band member changes or are aware of how it changes things.

Marc Maron obviously knows NOTHING about Tommy Stinson or The Replacements - cringeworthy.

Like almost everybody else who has never been obsessed with them, he knows just enough to know that he likes them. Why be a snob?

@@aperahamlincoln8451 Marc Maron came to this interview sloppily unprepared; he gets 3 questions in a row completely wrong right around the 22:00 mark...Husker Du on Twin Tone, Bob and Tommy being at "the helm" and no reissue of Let It Be, when in fact, Warner Bros/Rhino did indeed reissue all of their vinyl. Doesn't sound to me like someone who "knows just enough to know that he likes them"...rather, it sounds like he didn't even know who the hell they were...he's just spitting in the wind and hoping something sticks here. It's rude. And yeah, I will always be obsessed with the Replacements; what does that have to do with his lack of interest in even doing the most basic research here?

@@lindalinda0316 Haha, yeah I guess I knew things were headed off the rails as soon as Maron said that Tim was the first "power-pop" album he ever bought. No serious Mats fan would insult them with that terminology. But I think it's refreshing to hear Tommy responding to someone outside the cult and just focus more on what he's like as a human, rather than getting dragged into minutiae about the recording of Let It Be or whatever.

Olive Murray he’s one of the worst interviewers ever. Constantly interrupting his guests and interjecting his worthless opinion and forced humor.

Tommy seemed fine with MM's level of familiarity with the sometimes sordid Mats details and part of the attraction of WTF is the way people bounce off MM. He doesn't fake exhaustive prep or gush and certainly embraces his self-centeredness. You get some genuine spontaneousness. He could have dug deeper on Bob's passing, the whole "beautiful losers" trope or the personality conflicts but instead followed Tommy's lead with what I heard as respect.

Marc is always laughing at inappropriate times in the interview. It drives me fucking nuts. Tommy is the coolest and handled it like a champ though!

marc is the poster child for awkwardness
I couldn't even listen to him for the longest time, but the range and depth of these interviews pulled me in. I always get a kick out of how so many of the interviewees show Grace and compassion for the guy as He Flops around so epically. There's just something about this show and the guy thats sort of heroic in a weird way
