    0:05 New keys were programmed.
0:21 The battery was replaced. Some manufacturers put the battery is weird spots like the trunk, underneath the driver or passenger seat, wheel well etc.
    0:32 No extra info.
0:43 The passenger side area was cleaned out and the blower motor was replaced.
0:54 Airbag recall was still performed. Always make sure you clean the interior of your car and remove any food from the interior to prevent bugs and rodents from going inside your car.
1:05 The technician said all the air fresheners actually made it smell awful. It was too much!
    1:15 Drivers seat was fixed.
1:27 The Ford Focus even had a "padel shifter". The owner bought it from his father and transformed it into this "boat".
1:38 All 4 tires looked like the one shown and needed to be replaced. The technician said it also had damaged weather stripping around the doors which most likely let some water/moisture inside of the vehicle.
2:01 The keys for a Tesla look like a credit card, so I could see how those could be easily lost. Maybe they lost them in the car?
2:12 First time I've seen a truck badged this much to look like a diesel and even had a huge diesel exhaust tip.
2:27 Nissan Titan with a Cummins engine. As mentioned the truck was new at the time it was filmed.
2:48 To replace the rear shocks you need to remove some trim to remove the nut for the top of the shocks. Unfortunately, the mechanic had to remove lots out of the way to do so.
    3:01 No extra info.

No mechanic should be forced to work on a car or truck that has more garbage and critters than average dumpster. mechanics are not sanitation workers and should not deal with trash. it's up to the shop managers to take a few pictures and send the owners to the local dump to remove all the trash.

I was a auto tech years ago. I rejected a few jobs because of health concerns. One truck had crabs not the kind you eat in a seafood restaurant either. The boss didn’t believe me until he went out and checked the situation for himself. The customer had them all over his facial hair and clothes. He got told to leave immediately. He then walked out the door and said he would never be back. The manager’s reply was “good don’t’. Unfortunately, I worked in an area once where I had to inspect people's cars, they were owned by the organization I worked for and so they were company cars, so we had to make sure everything worked, no scratches longer than a dollar, and everything was working. I was amazed how there is a group of people who just ate stuff like fast food every day and just threw all the wrappers and junk into the back and passenger seats, they never emptied or cleaned the car, and this could go on for years, it got such to the point we had to make monthly inspections just to force these people to clean out their car. I around this time got to work in an area with one of these people and yeah he never cooked, ate out every meal, and threw all the stuff in the back, the worst was that he would order a soda every time, and whenever he got a new soda, he would throw the old soda into the seat, put the new one in the cupholder and continue on his life. I was like "Dude if you buy a new soda, just drop the old one off in the garbage at the place you ordered the new one at (It's stale anyways, what are you saving it for!). Anyways I had to drive with him for 6 weeks before becoming the owner of the car, and anytime he stopped at a fast-food place, I just grabbed the old stuff and threw it away at the place he just ordered from, as he was doing his order (Fun fact the people at the fast-food places actually complimented me on it, saying they did the same thing, they were rooting for me too), and after 4 weeks I finally got through the pile. Supprizingly he never really noticed me throwing stuff away. After he left I did a deep clean of the car (there was no point while he was there) and he always bought in cash and would just throw the change in the pile as well, so when I finally got the car deep cleaned I found over $35 worth of change in the bottom of the car, so I used to buy myself a meal, get the car cleaned, vacuumed and even bought a new car smell air freshener. The sad part was this car, was piled up floor to ceiling when I got there and only have around 6-8000 miles on it. It was basically new, but this is just the way people live. When I asked about it, why he did things this way, he said that's just how he grew up doing things, and so it's just how he did things, really makes you wonder...
Unrelated to cars, but I worked with another worker once and he had started living on his own, and would always eat on disposable paper plates, but due to the fact he didn't have a lot of money he would eat off the cheapest plates possible, and he hated how they would flex, and stick to the table. Finally, I showed him that there were these things called "ceramic dishes" that you could wash and never leaked, he thought that was the coolest thing ever and switched over to using them and still uses them to this day, he had just never grown up with anything but disposable and so didn't even know there were things like reusable plates. He just thought all plates were disposable, they just came in different qualities, so he had seen ceramic, but thought they gave them to them because they were guests and had just bought really nice plates. It's amazing how the way people grow up, can affect how they see the world.

    • @Sashazur
      @Sashazur 5 місяців тому +10

I understand that maybe he had been brought up with disposable plates, but unless he’s never eaten off a ceramic or plastic one, and never watched someone do it on TV, he had to have been very dense to not realize they don’t leak. Even disposable plates come in thicker stronger varieties that advertise that on the packaging, and he never noticed that either? I think in this case it was more than an upbringing issue!

I once worked in a different position within the company I work for now. For a time, I shared a company car with a raging alcoholic who, in his depressive state, did not bathe. I couldn't drive his Forester with the windows closed because the stench of dirty @$$ was nauseating. One Saturday, after our shift ended, he went home, and I stayed behind with my full kit of detailing products. It took me four hours to clean the car, and believe me, I scrubbed that thing top-to-bottom. Four cans of upholstery cleaner, half a bottle of Febreze Auto, and nearly an hour to get the tobacco/tar film off the windows. Crud and gunk in all the nooks and crannies of the dashboard and radio. 🤮
The fleet mechanic walks out of his shop into the main garage and sees me hard at work. He asked what I was doing, and I told him I was "removing the biohazards" from Ron's car. Stevie looked at me, shrugged, and said, "You're a better man than me. I just put some newspaper on the seat and wind all the windows down when I bring it in for service, and I change my clothes afterwards." When I was done, the car looked - and smelled - MUCH better. I could drive with the windows up without gagging.
We had another guy who was a filthy slob, but also somehow a germophobe - he liberally doused the interior with Lysol multiple times per shift but couldn't be bothered to empty his trash from his Econoline. I couldn't see the gauges through the plastic bezel, the Lysol coating was so thick it blurred everything out.

Years ago, I had an old lady bring her 77 Impala in for something. While she waited for me to get to her car, she waited in her car chain smoking with the windows rolled up. When I got in the car, I nearly died from the smell... and I was a smoker too! Her ash tray looked a lot (but not as bad as) like the car at 0:32. Amazes me how people let their cars get that bad.

I noticed immediately that she had a brown stain on the lower part of the front of her slacks and when she walked past me the stain was also there. I guessed from the position of the stains that she'd been eating chocolate in the car and some of it had fallen down into her crutch and stained the white slacks. Once I gained access to the car and retrieved her key, I asked her, "Hey, Marion, you have keyless entry, right? Instead of hitting the power lock button on the door before you get out, try using the "Lock" button on your remote after you shut the door instead. If you can press the button on your remote, you have the keys in your hand." I just can't understand how people let the inside of their cars get so trashed! Everyone in MY family takes care of their cars and have for years. We've sold cars that were many years old and still looked new inside! I've taken some to the dealership for work I couldn't do and had people try to buy them from me! Now and then some random person asks me if I want to sell one of my cars! 😁

I've got a few WalMart receipts in the console and the back is a little "cluttered" with ice scraper, umbrella, extra oil/coolant/transmission fluid/power steering fluid and an empty gas can for emergencies, but that's WAY different than piles of trash everywhere.....

The fact is that most of the cars in this video should have service refused. Personally I would not ask any tech or expect any tech to work on these Hazmat cars. The guy with the 1500 Dodge gasser with all of the Diesel badges obviously is envious ! LOL

I would put a stipulation/rule in my shop that if we can't get to the part of the car that needs work, you have to clean the car and bring it back or no deal. I can just see the complaint after you "clean" an area and the customers says you threw away his ipad! Just saying! LOL!!

There is a child seat in the second vehicle (0:31). That's bloody terrifying. If this is what the car looks like, I dread to think how bad the house the poor kid has to live in is. I hope child protective services were informed.

I usually keep cars until they die, clean and well-maintained the whole time. One of the few times I needed one towed, I was driving a car that was at least ten years old. The tow truck driver asked me what year it was, and was surprised when I told him. Said it was one of the cleanest cars he’d seen in his work. He said he’d had to pick up luxury cars less than a year old that were absolutely filthy.

My first job was working at the county pub works and the literal first thing I was tasked with was putting the bench seat back in like a 98 Chev K35 for the road dept. Had been sent out for repair or something and came back in. Thankfully it was just paper work, and very little food trash so there was no mold or bad smells but the floorboard was quite full and I had a difficult time getting the seat in. So I bagged all that crap, and it was a pretty stuffed 55gal bag at the end. Got the seat back in and then set the bag of trash in the passenger floorboard, drove the truck back over to road dept parking, put my time in on the WO and closed it out. Apparently the boss over there was quite pissed at the giant bag of trash in their truck but couldn't really say anything once he got told it all came out of that cab and not some random trash I put in there for no reason lmao. And my boss and the other mechanics backed me up.
Then later we had a GMC/Isuzu cabover street sweeper come in with half a dozen+ milk crates of XXX mags in the back behind the seat. It was so much weight they had trouble getting the cab to tip. The mechanic working on it put a pallet on a forklift, unloaded them all on to the pallet and then dropped the whole pallet in the dumpster.
It was fun doing shit like that cause what are they gonna do? Whine to their boss about all their jerkoff material going missing? lmao. Never hear the end of it from a private customer.
