Thank You! I LOVE Australian Record label art! It seems that most were done by the same artist who designed or at least took cues from the same wonderful artist who designed the U.S.A. Gennett Labels! They are very ornate and BEAUTIFUL! I have several ELECTRON both styles, the super lovely Black and white with gold print, and the equally AWESOME Black and gold version! Embassy, Clifford Savoy and Summit are others I have!

@@james-flynn1938 I only have two, one is Brown Shellac and has a super BEAUTIFUL Label, the other has a orange label with a darker almost red print on black shellac! I am going to upload the one with the lovely label ASAP! Both sides! "SALLY" by Jack Gordon, a waltz ballad like song very LOVELY and just has a wonderful feel to it, the flip side is by Irving Kaufman "HOME"! I sure hope You will like these as well!

Gret version!! Not ever having heard of "Clowns in Clover," I checked a few databases online. The Internet movie database (IMDb) does not list it -- not even as an alternate film title. The Guide to Musical Theatre indicates this was a London musical revue, opening in 1927, with 508 performances, and it introduced songs by many composers. I don't think the show ever made it to Broadway, and I have never seen a U.S. record label referencing the "Clowns." Also notice that it is a fox trot, and not a waltz, as the label promises!

Thank You! All I seen for the show / movie is the title song is "Laugh Clown Laugh" not a bad song, but not my favorite ether! I forget to make mention of the Waltz - Fox Trot discrepancy!

Such a nice looking label, fitting to the music. Almost wuth the US label of the 30s by the same name had a design somewhat similar to this in it's early years. Superb!

Thank You so much! I thought it would be interesting for folks to see the 1920's Australian Melotone label as well as hear a great song that was on it!

Wow, I am seriously humbled by your kind dedication in this upload. A great tune (which i have only previously heard as a waltz) by a great band and of course one of our favourite vocalists. This is a really rare record...but two additional points of interest - "Braybrook" is a western suburb of Melbourne only an hour's drive from me! ( can't ever imagine they had a society orchestra there in the 1920's!) And my Mother actually worked for Foy & Gibson in the mid 1960s - these discs were exclusively produced for sale in their stores!
    Thanks again!

You are most welcome! as I had You in mind when I was working and posting this record! And Thank You for the wonderful comment! How AWESOME that this record has Braybrook Society Orch. name on it, and it turns out it is not only a hour drive from where You live, as well as Your Mother worked where these wonderful records were sold! Thanks for the info!

Definitely a foxtrot and a brilliant one, superbly performed by a bandleader and a vocalist I both cherish. This was precious in every possible way; the orchestration was colorful and refined. Moreover, Scrappy outdid himself in the high-pitched vocal. Thank you so much for sharing this gem!
