  • In this video Pete Hillier a Director at EcoFires and Stoves www.ecofiresan... introduces Bio-ethanol fires.
    Bio-ethanol fires are a different option for those seeking an open fire in their home.
    In most cases you do not need a chimney and one of the best things about bioethanol fires is that there are no dangerous particles and fumes produced, plus it's, eco-friendly as it's a fuel that's produced from fermented plants, such as sugar beet.
    Also there is only a very slight smell of ethanol, which cannot be detected by 99% of people.
    The product being demonstrated is made by Planika Fires. planikauk.com They are an American company and offer a top of the range product.
    Pete demonstrates the fire using the remote control and explains how the fires work. He also demonstrates how to add the fuel and talks about relative costs.

    Judging by your T shirt, you are a HETAS certified engineer? Can I ask why you are using the term " clean burning"? In the event of incomplete combustion, isn't it possible your appliances could produce carbon monoxide and other pollutants? Just asking?

    • @james-5560
      @james-5560 Рік тому +1

      They do heat effectively as well, it's just that if you purely want heat it isn't the cheapest method, you're buying it for the heat and aesthetics. Particularly if you can't have a wood burner.

      So does a wood burner or coal fire, the difference is that these CANNOT emit carbon monoxide. It is best to make sure the room is well ventilated whoever you have a real flame fire.

  • @patman0250
    @patman0250 2 роки тому +5

    So it doesn't provide much heat? I'm pretty sure everybody with the fireplace gets one for the heat. And honestly that flame is kind of weak.

      I can tell you I do not need the extra heat. If you live in a big city, you most likely live in a building with heat. I have bought and sold houses, and always acquired fireplaces or fire pits. Never for the extra heat. My only reason has been only aesthetics
