Out of pocket since we didn’t buy the converter from him. We did have a torque converter lock up issue but not sure what the culprit was. Could have been the lock up solenoid. Unsure about the converters life before the G8 as well.
@@TonyTheTruckGuysolenoid was replaced with no luck. Went through some other components in the trans and ultimately it was the lock up clutches in the converter that gave way
My Circle D went out after 500 miles. Car has over 170xxx miles but I’m starting to think it’s not a good converter . I could be wrong but that’s just my 2 cents.
P0741, I noticed my tc clutch lock up was hard for a few hundred miles before it completely stopped engaging. Figured it was the tune causing the rough lock up but was the clutch itself failing
if you can tell me which converter it was i can tell you if its the good one or not. the cheaper ones that circle d suggest i heard break under pressure, you have to get the 1400 dollar triple disk one for it to not break. i hear its the metal in the cheaper ones that cant take it.
07-12-05-2C is the part number. I guess it could be a factor but when the car was purchased it had a poor transmission tune which probably prematurely shortened the lifespan of the converter
The car came with the circle d converter but had a sub par trans tune which we think caused the lockup clutches to have too much load and prematurely wear out. Hopefully with the new tune she’ll be good to go

Great info and details, thank you for sharing.
Absolutely!
Would love to see more pov drives of this beauty 🔥
Nice work! Sounding good 👍🏻
Finally back to running good too
I have a g8 as well, i only have the TC lockup in 5 and 6th. Its a 2900 stall.
What heater hoses did you use on your G8?
Good work! Did Circle D determine it was an issue with a tune, or failure on their end? Curious if they covered it or if you had to pay to repair it.

@@DAPerform I see. Did you replace the solenoid or have any issues after reinstalling the converter?

@@DAPerform Just unlucky with that one I guess then. Thanks for the reply!
Love it...
Could’ve just cut the old trans lines and tapped into those and re-used those. They’re already routed and big enough
Could have but with the AN line there’s less failure points. Especially since the cut lines would have no flare or anything to hold a hose on them

Could be more than just a converter. Line pressure plays a big part in converter/transmission life and function
What code did you get? I wonder if I’m having a similar issue

Could you make your g8 by sound like this and what would you need
V6
A V8 🤣

I use to want a bigger converter but the stock 6l90 has been doing fine for 150k. Ctsv/zl1 converter not big enough?

Do you have the part number for the motor mounts?
SPF-TRC2000
What’s she putting down for rwhp?
It made 412/420 last summer while the radiator hose was popping off after each pull lol.

I still can’t decide between a Circle D 3000-3200 or a ZL1 converter. I’m about to have my G8 cam swapped for a BTR stage 2 NA.
I would say circle d…more stall and won’t have to worry about any poor vacuum at idle. The btr stage 2 is similar to our custom grind
