Some extra tips from my 2018 UTMB experience as well, I suffered from nerves and stomach issues so only made it 135km (still very proud of that though, and will hopefully be back for redemption)... 1) No caffeine on the first night, especially if you are going to be out for 2 nights! save it for the very end 2) Get used to the 6pm start and adjust your body, if you can in the 1-2 weeks before UTMB start pushing your sleeping cycle back by waking later and training through the night then do that 3) If it's your first UTMB and you a susceptible to pressure / nerves try and train your mind somehow (let me know any tips for that!) to cope with that better the start line is insane and you will be more nervous than you have ever been which from experience can have an effect 4) Don't leave your hiking poles unattended at Champex-Lac so they go missing! (keeping my fingers crossed to win the Leki poles on the Patreon draw as I still have not replaced mine haha) I should be coming to the NEC running show as well Claire so hopefully see you there!

Damian is such a great guy, as evidenced by his agreeing to an interview in a parking lot. I hope you offered him a beer! We definitely have to listen to whatever he says - he has to be among the favorite athletes in any race he enters.

I fear the climbs but Damian several times underlined the difficulty of downhill running. Great advice!

Some really great tips, thanks for sharing and making such a good video. Feeling good about the video I just uploaded about non-running training to improve my running now after watching this :)

This was a great interview Claire. Well done! And I love the location; it's part of running to take advantage of whatever time we have at whatever location we're at. I thought it was post workout at a gym or something until I read your description. My favorite tip was to remember perspective. We are all one possible bad step from never doing this again and so many people can't. Work on it like it's your last time.
