YES
Yes. Beat displacement. It's kind of a "I'm so good at keeping the form in my head" thing, and the point really isn't to count it so much as to practice hearing the form until it's so deep down you can hear the band but still keep it in your head. To do that, I'd just memorize the tune, and also try to identify the displacement's Aaron's doing and practice hearing what that sounds like. Know that's not very specific, but hope it helps
i think he just plays the song at a slower tempo. it definitely sounds like he is playing over the form.
+The 80/20 Drummer I don't think it is beat displacement. he just slowed it down. And at the end Sax threw fast tempo to make the bands convinced.
I think initially the idea was to displace the beat, but in they ended up modulating to a new tempo. Will Vinson picked it up back to the original tempo for the head out.
nah man, they do modulate but throughout the piano solo/bass solo the original pulse is implied many times
listen to the tempo when piano starts to solo. amazing...
real cool. sounds like the new quarter note pulse equals 4 eighth note triplets of the old time?
These guys master the form so they can do any thing...
@George Leonard , sounds like that to me too.
this reset my DNA breathtaking
beautiful
Time to transcribe lage

This could be the greatest drum track of all time.
I disagree, felt too disjointed in spite of adhering to the form
