- Ok guys in this video I will showing my 1995 Chevy OBS owners how to convert your a/c wiring to work with the new style a/c control module. This is a very simple process that can be done for free basically. I will also post the wiring schematic on my Instagram @lowlifeyonkes so make sure you follow me for that info. My Dads been gone for 22 years but I keep up his 95 heavy half clubcab , he loved that truck and so do I. Just got the ac working again but the switch only blows on high so I ordered a new one from Amazon which cost me 100 bucks Canadian not bad, imagine my surprise when I pulled the old unit out and it was completely different???🤯 I was getting ready to send it back when I started reading about the wiring harness adapter kit, I found a new one for under $50 and it’s on its way. Finding a good info video on how to make it work is another challenge till I saw yours, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, you put a lot of effort into this and as you can see from the comments we all appreciate what you have done! I can’t wait to get at it once that harness shows up, it will be a breeze thanks to you, great job!👍
Thank you for the comment at the time that I put out this video no one had made an adapter harness but as time has passed they have become available from eBay amazon ect. I was surprised at the quality of this harness, both ends are complete no need to create the connection, they are plug and play, hooray keeping the spare parts though, thanks for what you did it did get me up to speed!

@@LowLifeYonkes The stupid thing now is the fan still blows only on high, there must be a relay somewhere malfunctioning. May have to just replace the fan, one way of keeping your truck like new 🤣
@@Springer_maniac replace the blower motor resistor first that should fix it

I’ve known for years 1995 was the worst year for so many reasons and even warned buddies about it. But I bought one anyway because the price was right. So now I get to learn all the different 95 only things I didn’t know already. Great video I will save this for when I get to my ac rebuild not sure if have controller issues yet

Just picked up a 95 k1500. Thing is incredible . Beautiful paint and no rust and interior is super clean Not faded ripped or worn. Need to replace my controls.Light doesnt work on them..thats all but would like to replace..

Ok this saved me a ton, i dont have rear defrost so i just did not use that part of the diagram. It worked. I have a extra white wire on block 2? No idea why. Dont care it worked great and thanks bro for the video.

Aye another thing I wouldn't throw it away quite just yet buddy I pull the knobs off the old unit from your Tahoe. Believe me they will come in handy some day for you or someone else also the bulbs that light up the panel
Oh trust me I have extra parts for just about everything 😂 I have a bucket 🪣 just full of extra bolts knobs wiring and bulbs mis. Lil parts

I like how you got to details the only problem I'm having is my truck don't have a defrost. If you can help me with that I will gladly appreciate it . Cuz I was even thinking about eliminating block one and trying that

My control module does not have the defroster button. Will your harness work for that? I am assuming it's just a connection that isn't there, otherwise just keep going with the harness.

I have some questions I can't find any solid answers to. I actually own a 1995 C1500 4.3 with manual transmission that mu uncle bought brand new I believe in 1994 rolled right off the show room floor then it went to my grandparents and then I got it so we have had it it's entire life. I am wanting to know some answers of what I will need to do to put the 94 square dash in to my truck and get rid of the round dash I see alotttt of people going to round but not backwards like I would like to. I found your video because I thought I finally found a conversion to connect to the old style 94 AC, also wanted to point out that I have a 1995 that came factory with the newer style controls that you are showing except doesn't have the round button for defrost just wanted to also throw that out there that mine is completely original 95 with that newer style one.
Ok first question if you would like to switch the old style square dash I would get the wiring harness from the donor truck ur taking it from and that should take care of ur issue that in my opinion would be the easiest or if ur handy with wiring you can get the wiring diagram and trace most of your wires and convert to old style connectors and I also have a 95 short bed signal cab that I just did the ac control module and it doesn’t have the defrost button I might put up the wiring I did for it just have found the time to make anymore videos ur not the first one to ask for it hopefully I can get to it soon

Best place to get is the junk yard just make sure it a 96-98 truck, tahoe, suburban it will work I didn’t post the wire colors because they have changed over the years but the pins remain the same thank you for supporting my channel I appreciate it bro 👍🏼

I bough it for my 95 for $270 just to burn again in the installation 😔🥺 also bough the compressor $250 and condenser and still = no AC😓 but am still trying I had own my Chevy v6 for 22 years and 275 k miles zero engine or tranny problems still pass smog flying colors best pick up I have ever own not like my trashy brand new 02 f150 there I sold at 98k miles with the stupid spark problem

When looking at the blocks which direction are you looking from the back of each plug or the front of each plug thank you
U should look at the diagram and look at ur blocks at the same time it will all make sense
Hey Man quick question I have a 95 Chevy suburban K1500 everytime I go to turn on the headlights/running lights my AC compressor kicks on and blows hot air even while my ac is running, hot air coming out. Please if you can help me with anything I’d much appreciate it.

I have a 2000 c2500 and replaced the control but i need it with white backlighting since i have white gauges. My replacement was green backlight. Seems as if all they have is green as replacements
Do you have an OBS or NBS ?

@@LowLifeYonkes It’s actually the fan temp mode sticker it looks white but lights up green my bulbs are already white .. . So i may get a new control and hit up the yard , pull off the sticker and replace mine

I have 2001 GMC 3500 mini school bus without a/c and any components.I bought a/c and all parts needed for the job but I don't have or I don't see all wires for it, what do I do?
Second question is , since I didn't have an a/c I need to install new controller like you did , but I'm not sure is it going to work.

Ok so if you currently have no ac u need to find out if you have the wiring for it if you don’t have wires for ac I would go to a junk yard and get all the wiring you need to make it work you would have to trace it all back to the fuse block and take what you need that would be the fist step if that’s too much for you to handle I would recommend an ac shop to help you out thanks for watching 👍🏼

My block 1 pin 7 doesn't have a termination, what does this mean??
I guessing u don’t have defrost right if so Block 1 pin 7 there is no wire and block 4 pin A just cut the wire u don't need it I did mess up on that 1 wire hope this helps

No I don’t they actually make the complete harness for it now u can get it from Amazon or eBay just search 95 c1500 ac harness
I got an LS SWAP in my 98 Sierra, the guy who did the swap cut my original harness out the truck I have the A/C and compressor installed. I'm lost because I don't know how to wire everything up without the original harness
The best thing you can do is go to the junkyard and take out the wires u need but you need to label them first

I would learn how you would hookup electric seats conversion in an obs?
You need the entire power window harness that comes with the power seats wiring it is behind the dashboard it has to be removed to access all the wiring then you can convert

What specific plugs did you buy? I have the control panel but can’t find correct plug connectors to retrofit like this.
When I bought the a/c control module I clipped the plugs wires with wire cutters I got mine at the junkyard
So you basically got the wire from an ac unit in the junkyard sorry just a little confused because the ac unit i ordered on amazon didnt come with no wiring so got a little confused when seein yours had wiring
Yea so basically I took out the out a/c unit out of my 95 cut the wiring from that unit and got a used 1 from the junkyard and also cut that wiring going to the a/c unit and made my own wiring harness to adapt to the new style 96-98 a/c unit

Anyone else have trouble when you get to block 3 into block 5? (Block 3 pin a & d) Both pins on block 5 are empty.
If those pins are empty you will have a problem with the defrost on the back window

How would you be able to get powder windows without using that universal window kit ?
Get the wiring harness from the junkyard it’s behind the dash and also gives you power seats with power windows all in 1 harness

@@jasonperez6388 you just need the power window & power seat harness its all in 1 if you lucky you can also have keyless entry its all in 1 harness plug and play u will also need some fuses and relays the plug in ur truck u can take everything you need from a junk yard truck
Need digram of no rear defrost on 95
Yea I have it just need to test it out before I let everyone have it
the control panel on my 98 has 3 plugs but it only has 2 buttons which are ac and circulation. the right knob has flow direction and 2 defrost posigions. well the plug on the left side where your defrost button is that clip broke so i cant plug it in. however as i took a closer look theres nothing inside the panel where it clips in its empty. im confused cause my ac and heat all works so is it possible that the 98 panel got switched witn an older panel and that left harness was just clipped there but non functional??
There are 2 different ac consoles 1 with defrost and the other 1 with no defrost I know how to wire the 1 without defrost as well I just haven’t gotten around to making a wire diagram yet I will post it soon I have gotten this question many times before so I’ll post it when I can thanks for the question and for watching

There is another wiring harness but for the one with out the defrost but I don’t have that wiring schematic sorry
all the important pins should be the same no? so the defrost wiring would just do nothing?
