    Should use the cricut to actually DRAW the grid for you... using a permanate sharpee in the 'pin hole' ...

    Hehe! We think alike, I’ve also used those for stencils and to make my vinyl bow templates 😉

      The House Of Cards And Crafts Cameo mats are expensive. I use my DIY mats ob my cameo all the time, they work great.

    You can also buy a large posterboard size piece of stencil material at Michael's...it's sold in the kids craft section where the other posterboard is. Flexible, opaque, thick enough and semi-smooth surface. Of course, the whole point was that these were inexpensive...and a great idea.

    You are awesome. I was thinking about buying overpriced cricut mats until I found this!

    Curious, could I save a template and print the gridlines and numbers when needed and tape underneath? Or wouldn’t that work? We still haven’t unboxed our Silhouette, so I’m getting ahead of myself lol, but we also need a very large mat for another project, and a few of those should do the trick. Plus they’d store away more compactly. Makes much more sense for us. Thank you

    I just made a 12x24 mat using your method on flexible shelf lining (like you put down on wire shelves). How long should I wait after applying the tacky spray before I can use it?

      Can you give more detail on how you made your mat and isn't the shelf lining too flimsy format I'm not quite understanding.

    I don't have a cutter but am very interested in them. I was just wondering if you couldn't just use the tack on your cricut mat when it lost its stickiness?

    • @zuribellanasrihernandez7055
      @zuribellanasrihernandez7055  5 років тому +1

      gambonianca I re-stick all my mats when they loose their stickiness. The mats tend to crack and wear out though. This technique helps me save tons of $. Usually a new mat will cost me around $15. I don’t mind spending the money, it’s just that I use my mats so much that I’m constantly having to replace them.

    Do you notice that you have to change the cutting depth or are these mats exactly the same thickness?

    • @zuribellanasrihernandez7055
      @zuribellanasrihernandez7055  6 років тому +3

      Diane Jennings I’ve never had to change the settings. I use them for both my Silhouette and my Explorer. I prefer these because once they start to look worn I just throw them out.

    great video, if want /need to use something for a dust cover to put on it, as the cricut mats have. I have a dog and is shedding like crazy, it would end up probably with dog hair on it! no matter how hard I try, dog hair is where I don't want it.. lol thanks again for info, did hear could use them, but never gave it a thought to put the grid on it too. :) thumbs up

    Thanks! What type of spray are you advertising for the sticky part? The video wasn't clear enough to display the name. Thanks for your response.

      Bonnie Sierras great question and my apologies for not making that more visible. I use Krylon easy-tack repositionable adhesive 7020. I’m pretty sure I purchased it at Jo’anns.

      @@zuribellanasrihernandez7055 You don't find that spray adhesive makes your blade stick to your paper and rip your paper? I used to use spray adhesive and it ripped all my material so I now use either zig or aleenes tack it.😇🤓cheers

    Also, what do you use to protect these for storage?

    • @zuribellanasrihernandez7055
      @zuribellanasrihernandez7055  6 років тому +4

      I just cover them with the same mats (one I did not add the tacky spray too or draw the lines on) and store them by hanging them on a hook on my wall.

      You can use parchment paper to protect the stickiness of mats
