  • Roland's latest addition to their FP line of pianos, the FP-10, offers a tremendous amount of features at an affordable price point. But how does it stand up against Yamaha's venerable P-45? Both fall under the $500.00 price range, offer weighted keys, multiple sounds, varying levels of touch sensitivity, and so much more. We're curious as to what you think and would love to hear your feedback in the comment below. Play A Note, Change Your Life!

Yamaha would be my preference ... But for the price range ... at this time , it seems to me that the Roland fp10 has some features that would appeal to me over the Yamaha p45 (which has been my preferred one for beginners fir the longest , until Roland came out with the FP10 )
But Yamaha has more of the sounds that I prefer .

  • @clydebermingham121

Pros- The Roland fo10 has triple sensor triggering .... The Yamaha doesn’t ..... The Roland has 92 (or something polyphony ..) . The Yam’ p45 has 64 notes polyphony ... Thr Roland fp10 can trigger midi wirelessly / Bluetooth ...
Cons - The Roland fp10 has headphone jack out (1/8th inch). The Yam p45 had standard 1/4 out (more professional... )
So far , the Roland fp10 seems to be the over all midi controller for a compact inexpensive Midi’s controller for a professional pianist who wishes to trigger software sounds from MacBook Pro , any computer ... iPad , iPhones .... and have not only piano like feel in action & response (including fast repeats in one key with one hand or finger .... ).
I tend to prefer Yamaha piano sounds over Roland ... but the Yamaha p45 is so dated in comparison to the Roland since the recent issue of the Ro’ fp10.
For a professional seeking an inexpensive piano like trigger ,,, (to trigger softwares like Keyscape by Spectrasoic .... ravenscroft piano software ... native instruments ... or any other great sounding acoustic piano sounding commuter software sounds sourced , or iPad / iphone sound sources ... etc ... ) I think thus far , Roland is the preferred ins between the two .
I still prefer Yamaha keys over Roland in general ..
But fir the inexpensive route .. at the price level ... for me professionally .. since Roland has come out with this fp10 .. it seems to appeal to me more for the objectives I’ve mentored above .
But other than the Roland Fp10 Yamaha would be my preference

How about the clicking noise of the keys? For some reason, none of the reviewers dont mentions this misunderstanding. After a week of using the FP-10, the keys start to click. This is due to the mechanics of the keyboard and the using of grease under the keys. The problem is very common, there are many discussions on Reddit about this. Owned FP10, the key click problem was confirmed. Loved this instrument, but this clicking issue is really disappointing. Roland needs fp10 quality control.

Yes,you can play it with another sound by connecting It to a computer via midi and using a vst. You won't change the sound of the piano, you will transmit to the PC midi files (what key you pressed, how long, how hard you pressed,sustain...) and you will Play a virtual instrument.
I own a p45 myself and I recomend you using some good headphones! At the beginning I used to play with my everyday headphones and the sound looked so cunfused and digital, then I bought the "superlux hd861" on Amazon, they cost around 30€ and they're great headphones!
I'm telling you that because the p45's speakers aren't very good so the sound doesn't look great, but if you use good headphones (they don't have to be very expensive,I highily recomend you the superlux, they're often compared to 100€ headphones) then the sound will get much better!
About the superlux hd861...they're semi-open headphones so they don't isolate you from external sounds,it depends by your needing,I needed semi-open so they're perfect. If you need isolating headphones the superlux hd662 are close but they cost a bit more! (40/50€)
      I hope I've helped you

      @ayrtoninchejanampa6874 4 роки тому

Let's see, let's clarify the matter, the roland FP10 and the Yamaha P45 are cheap digital pianos, for that reason they are very limited and lack more connections.
Another detail is that traditional 5-pin MIDI ports are already obsolete today, for that reason is that old keyboards have those MIDI connections, so does the Yamaha P35, which is the one before the P45.
Piano companies are putting more connections like traditional MIDI in more expensive keyboards like the Yamaha P515, because what is usually used now is a USB host that connects it to the PC with a printer cable, it is something more modern, it What you need is to buy an 88-key MIDI controller since that keyboard is good for that
