I like how, although Amity shows why she cut ties with Willow, she still doesn’t try to defend her actions. She isn’t like ‘My parents made me a bully’; she knows she still made a bad choice that hurt Willow, that she was too weak to stand up to her parents at the time.
I actually don't blame her for cutting ties at that moment: if she hadn't, her parents would probably have kept their word and Willow's future as a witch would be over. However, she bears responsibility for never trying to reconnect or explain things later, and for all the years she, Bosha and co. bullied Willow.
The thing i love most about this episode is how they handled Willow's feelings. Amity had a reason to do what she did, but Willow's pain was still valid. She was not obliged to forgive Amity and become her friend immediately, and that's okay. Amity understood that too because regardless of the situation, what she did was still insensitive and hurtful. I really like that Willow doesn't just completely forgive Amity, but says that they'll work on it.
After rewatching the show I realise that Inner Willow's strength kinda foreshadows her actual character in later seasons. Willow had unbelievable strength and bravery hidden deep inside and once she was on the right path she became a powerhouse so unstoppable it only took 1 look for Hunter to fall in love with her.

S2 spoilers! . . . . . . . . . . I wonder how Alador turned from this strict father to this tired distracted man. Did they just change his whole character or did something change him?
that's what I'm wondering tbh. was he being controlled by odalia to say these things? did he have a change of heart during the years? or is this how amity remembered the whole thing? I wonder if the show will answer this..
Best way to say is, it's through Amity's memories so it's more than likely her perspective rather than how Aladors parental guidance was supposed to be established; meaning he's just being controlled by Odalia assumingly but Amity was too young to know, so she thinks her dad might be as bad as her mom, but in Escaping expulsion Alador is different and does not prove a strong antagonist. Dana definitely has explaining to so since his character is interesting and hard to explain.
@@moonmaniac1193 there was no indication of Alador being controlled. He's just as horrible as odalia by letting things happen and enabling her. The only reason he made Odalia keep her promise was to keep Amity on their side to have ties to what they hope is the future abomination coven head. I don't get why everyone thinks he's this innocent himbim who has no control over his wife and kids just because odalia is more outspoken. He's not so distracted where he has no idea what's going on. He /knows/ what's going on and let's it happen or worsens it.
I feel like Alador was always this way he just seemed scary in S1 bc some kids see their parents that way. I feel like even though he isn’t as controlling as Odalia but he still cares about status.
If Amity's parents actually did ruin Willow's chances at getting into Hexside, even after Amity did end her friendship like she was told, Amity would feel like she did it all for nothing. That would be extremely heartless, right?
2:44 I really like this small moment here. It shows that Amity is actually a kind, gentle person and didn't want to hurt that butterfly, she just wanted to convey her message and hoped Willow would understand. Willow wouldn't have wanted her to rip it either if you ask me.

Amity's parents: "Good children don't squabble dear". Me: "Good parents love their children, not tormenting them Mr. and Ms. Blight. That's the basic rule. Use your brain."
Me: Alma Madrigal your perfectionist nature and selfishness has gotta stop!! All you did is harm, bully and manipulate is what drove poor Mirabel and Bruno away in the first place!!
This episode just reminds me of Memory of a Memory from Adventure Time. Amity makes an interesting foil to Ash. She regretted destroying all of Willow's memories by accident, and he was fine with destroying Marceline's memory of their breakup. She rekindled her friendship with Willow and it's gonna be okay between them from here on out; Ash, on the other hand, only got Marceline back briefly and lost her again all thanks to Finn exposing his plot to her by placing her inside his head where he showed her his memory of her memory.
Ok, is NO ONE going to talk about how they represented Willow's mind? This whole episode feels like it took inspiration on system dynamics. I picked up the signs when I first saw how her mind is designed. She likes plants, and nature, and pretty flowers so it is very accurate that her mind would reflect that. They could've done something generic like her house, but they didn't. Also, Eda talked about "inner Willow" as a gatekeeper. In DID, OSDD and other dissociatice disorders it's very common to have a gatekeeper( be it for one function or multiple.) Gate Willow seems to be in charge of her whole mind, here it's focused on memories. And hoo boi is there a lot to this! In systems, there is a gatekeeper for memories: they have the power to manage memories, remove them from certain alters and store them away/give them to an alter more suitable. Since this isn't a system, Gate Willow decided to destroy them entirely. She wants to do this to delete Front Willow's pain, to spare her from looking at her ex friend while hurting. This is very accurate because the gatekeeper's role os to keep the mind safe, even though here it is done in a more persecutory way. Also, can we appreciate how they showed Little Willow? 1 she's adorable, and 2 it showes her more appesead, while she was likely hurting for a long time. (osdd system of 7 here, were getting therapy and doing fine.) I used to be like Willow, I had a best friend that treated me awful for years. My alter Bell hates his guts, and if it were for her, she'd destroy all the memories I have of him to spare me the pain of thinking about him, even years after i cut ties with him. I just love this episode , I relate to it so much it hurts-

Luz is... very positive and oblivious
I love when child willow just bonks her head on the tree
Me too Aww so adorable
Then she just giggles and runs off lmao
0:56 the way luz just crashed head first but then was like 😐
How does this scene make me tear up every single time.
the voice acting for inner willow is so good!!! I can't help but rewatch it. Starting to be my favorite character, hahah!
Alador simps desperately avoiding this clip
Huh?
3:20 Luz funny face 😂
Yeah, I thought I was the only one who found it hysterical. 🤣🤣🤣
Great voice acting from tati gabrielle ❤❤❤
Agreed. She sounded so angry and hurt, as opposed to her sounding so sweet for the most part.

Anyone else think Mr. Blight's silhouette makes him look kind of like Count Olaf?
Amity did not have green hair until she imitated her green-haired mother's toxic ways.
b a b y w i l l o w
I'd never expect that there was a Amity blight UA-camr...
Amity accidentally burnt all of Willow's memory pictures but the evil fire Willow is going to kill Amity.

Dana definitely has explaining to so since his character is interesting and hard to explain.
thankkk u ive been waiting for someone to say this
@@moonmaniac1193 there was no indication of Alador being controlled.
Yeah well, blight's always hold up their end of the deal
@@charlielay537 Even if it means helping a witch hunter's witch genocide... Good thing Alador requestion that one!
@@charlielay537
Not one of them tho.
2:44 I really like this small moment here. It shows that Amity is actually a kind, gentle person and didn't want to hurt that butterfly, she just wanted to convey her message and hoped Willow would understand. Willow wouldn't have wanted her to rip it either if you ask me.
Amity risked her friendship for Willow’s dreams.
"I'm not actually going to rip it cause it's a real butterfly..."
That seems like maybe they didn’t have her dad’s character firmly down yet because he seems very different when we actually meet him.
Amity: *Soft landing*
Luz: *YEEETTTT*
2:26-For a second there,I thought that Willow wasn't going to believe her.
I wish we could get the OST for this series, that bgm during Amity’s memory (also when Grom turns into Amity’s worst fear) I AM OBSESSED
"I'm not actually going to rip it because it's a real butterfly, but you get the gesture".
Didn't she bake a swarm of live fairies into a pie?
Fairies seem pretty malevolent in the Boiling Isles. Not sure about butterflies tho.
fairies are pretty evil from what we've seen lol, i wouldn't feel guilty
To be fair she did rip it at the end of the episode
@@K3ndalz
Didn't she just let it fly away?
I saw a fan-fic in which Amity does the same thing to her own memories, with inner-Amity continuing the job. I wanna see that become a true episode in the future.
I also wanna see an episode in which Willow loses control over her anger and almost kills everyone in the island.
Where
@@jessespringer7723 it was a montage of fanfics mixed up together, so you're going have to search by writing what I just told you about Amity.
@@JabamiLain can you still please look for it
@@jessespringer7723 I think it was erased. I've already searched it but can't find it anymore. I'm sorry.
But hey, while we're at it, what do you think that are the chances of this becoming an actual episode ?
@@JabamiLain I don’t know I mean the amity and willow forgetting thing has already been concluded
Now seeing her parents I feel like her dad was never like or said that but her mom I can tell she definitely said those things
Yeah his dad was reaaallly out of character there
You guys know that you litteraly saw like 20 seconds of his dad here right? And we only saw him for one episode in the second season, he can still be abusive and in the past he definitely hurted Amity
@@jaiden8529 fair point, I’m just saying that when we do get to see him he’s different than what we were given

3:23 tiny willow sound is cute
She got yeeted.
Luz in the back be like 🤭
Amity's parents: "Good children don't squabble dear".
I knew about Amity's parents being assholes even before I saw the episode...and it still cut deep.
LUZ BEING LAUNCHED WILL NEVER NOT BEING FUNNY
Notice how reserved Alador sounds when he's forbidding Amity to be friends with Willow.
3:21 This was me for the next two hours after watching this episode. 😍💅✨
0:56 luz are you okay
Luz: Yeah I'm fine
I’m telling you, Dana had a different vision for Alador and Odalia.
I feel confident one of them was a coven head working for the emperor
Inner Willow wasn't trying to hurt Amity, right? She better have been rationalized enough to deal with her
This episode just reminds me of Memory of a Memory from Adventure Time.
Yeah me too
i wish we had more of inner willow, or just willow using fire magic in the show, this episode was so cool
In DID, OSDD and other dissociatice disorders it's very common to have a gatekeeper( be it for one function or multiple.)
Gate Willow seems to be in charge of her whole mind, here it's focused on memories.
(osdd system of 7 here, were getting therapy and doing fine.)
I used to be like Willow, I had a best friend that treated me awful for years. My alter Bell hates his guts, and if it were for her, she'd destroy all the memories I have of him to spare me the pain of thinking about him, even years after i cut ties with him.
I just love this episode , I relate to it so much it hurts-
I can relate to Willow
It’s terrible Amitys parents try to decide her friends I know the Pain mom doesn’t want me to make friends with the neighbors because their younger than me she only thinks I should make friends at my age
Her parents sound different in Escaping Expulsion
So which of each sides Amity will choose, is she on team Luz or team Boscha. 🔮✨😄👁😈
Team Luz
2:43 the whole scene was so sad then this scene
i love how amity just falls in but luz got yeeted lol
0:14 palpatine and vader: GOOD LET THE HATE FLOW IN YOU RELEASE YOUR ANGER!!
Rewatchin this and MAN props to willows va for the delivery on inner willow. Its so good and williw needs an s2 ep
1:56-2:26 its the same creepy musicbox from the grom episode!
This just makes me wanna watch the owl house all over again
2:17 the music here is incredible, first thing I thought of was the Breaking bad OST. Very similar
"Blights only accompany strong witches bla bla"
Willow literally having godly plant magic: 😐
Well she probably wasn't as powerful back then.
Julieta: Mirabel gift or no gift you're special like the rest of your family
Geese and I thought bill cipher was evil but amitys parents SHEESH! There like the mark hamil joker but with sanity
some people say that edaline is wrong for saying there cannot be two innerself inside but the older version of her is either pure sadness or rage
3:23 my brain all day
I know I am to late for this but I wanted to say this clip was really heartwarming and I almost teared up but then I started wheezing because of luz face at the end of this clip
I'm glad they didn't kill the butterfly XD

Why is amity’s dad like 2 different characters
"im actually not going to rip it because its an actual butterfly"
