We also appreciate your calm presentation. Some we have watched have a lot of "Hollywood". We appreciate you sticking to the features of the ship. Your filming is well lit and gives a great sense of space.
Amazing timing on this video! I just booked a Westerdam cruise this morning! This will be our 2nd Holland America cruise and 3rd Alaska cruise. Very excited! Thanks for the great info about the ship!
Excellent tour! We just did an Alaska cruise tour on Noordam last month, had a verandah room like you, but on Deck 5, starboard side forward, but in every way identical to yours. I was interested in seeing the differences between these sister ships because we will be doing an Australian cruise on Westerdam next! I really enjoyed the artwork in the Noordam stairways and common areas, some very cool stuff! I found that most of the cabin hallways on were decorated with reproduction oil paintings and pencil drawings, and only Deck 5 had old B&W photographs! I was very impressed with the attentiveness of the staff and crew, they really took care of us, and I'm looking forward to my next experience on a HAL ship! Thanks, Angie!
This is by far the best tour of this ship I've seen yet! Thank you so much for being so thorough and taking your time when showing each area, we can really see it all! Quick questions... why was the bed so lumpy and did they charge you a $20 corking fee for the bottle of wine you brought onboard? We're cruising the Westerdam in August to Alaska and can't wait! It'll be our first Alaskan cruise and first time on HAL. Looking forward to watching more of your content!
Thanks for the great tour. We are cruising to Alaska in about a month so it was wonderful to see the renovated decor. All the other videos I had found were pre-renovation, so we really appreciate seeing what we're getting into. Including the tour of the state room was very helpful. The "goose" in the lobby is a huge enlargement of a painting called the threatened swan, it's my favorite painting in the whole world so I'm thrilled to see it's part of our ship, it seems like a sign that we made a good choice. The original is in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, and it's a swan protecting her young from a dog, who is about to attack from the water. It is supposed to be an allegory for the forming of the country of the Netherlands. I don't personally get the allegory, I just think it's beautiful. But there is a reason/explanation for it to be included on a Holland America ship. :)
Thank you for the explanation. I just happened to visit the Rijksmuseum a couple weeks ago and see it. Then it made a lot more sense in the context of the full painting.
They was a hugely helpful video!!! I’m considering an Alaska cruise on the Westerdam this August and have only been on one other Fantastic cruise on the Crystal Harmony. Thank you for all of the interesting g details :-)
Very well detailed tour. Anyone familiar with the Statendam class should feel comfortable on this ship. HAL ships stay very consistent in terms of spaces and what they offer and combine some spaces in a sensible way. I think it's very ship like inside and out with nice wide promenades and lots of lounges. I enjoy HAL very much.
Hi we’re sailing on her on the 24th of Oct to Sydney Aus. Your clip is really helpful thanks. The tip to bring something orange would not have occurred to me. We will be at sea for Halloween and crossing the equator. I wonder if we need some fun clothes for those times.
Thank you! We just booked yesterday for our first ever cruise! We'll be on the 6th floor too. I'm pretty clueless...thanks for the info about the CPAP. Didn't realize the ship has so much to offer.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Wonder where you are storing your luggage. Didn’t see it anywhere in your room. So there are no plugs for 2 cPaps on the bedside? Do we need to bring extensions for this. Thanks.
We are going on this ship in June. When will we get our time to check in? Also when do we get our boarding passes. We have been checked in for a while now. Thank you
We will be sailing on this ship in june to a long 30 day alaskan cruise. First time in this ship. Thanks for the video What is the procedure for boarding on the ship on the first day. .
@@luannehorting2441 I haven't sailed from Seattle in years so I don't know the current procedure. I'm sure it's similar to all the other ports - check in with your boarding pass, clear port security, and board the ship.
Great video. How can I email you questions. I would be a solo traveler and don’t even know how to start the booking process and logistics. Local travel agents say they can’t really help as they are getting out of the cruise business. How can I email you please?
Thanks for the informative video tour of the ship. The ship and amenities seem to be in line with their competitors. Your cabin looked disappointing…especially the bathroom. “Rust” at the bottom of your sink-length mirror…really? And the shower/tub looked aged and need of an upgrade. I hope that you didn’t pay a premium price under those conditions.
@Trips with Angie This is my first trip I do not have any excursions gonna play it by ear for the most part. I know I want to do the train ride And the sea oters/raptors.

One of the best tours of the ship I have watched, thank you. Cruising around Japan for my first cruise in October 🎉 can't wait
Thanks! We sailed to Japan, too. I have a whole Playlist: Japan: ua-cam.com/play/PL82EWPgF2YEIG_Ddiod4fUnSPkyWILPyQ.html
How was it?!!!!
The goose is a very famous Dutch Golden Age painting that is in the Rijksmuseum in the Netherlands ( Holland) Ohhh and it's a swan. Love your video
Yes!! I saw the painting in Amsterdam last year. Mystery solved.

Yes. They do charge a corkage fee now unless the wine is purchased on a Holland America shore excursion.

It's always good to bring fun clothes!
Thank you for the great video! We leave in six days and I wanted to know more about the ship- and you answered all my concerns💕

Thanks for this video! I board the Westerdam tomorrow for Alaska and was wondering what to expect!
Bon Voyage!
the wake everytime
So relaxing.
Agree. Chairs should face out.
👍
Great tour! Do you remember if the pickleball times were generous or kind of sparse?
We didn't have time to play since our itinerary was so port intensive.
Great info for novice cruiser! I would like to know about interior stateroom.
What do you want to know about it?
Nice tour of the ship. When did you travel on it?
April 2023
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Wonder where you are storing your luggage. Didn’t see it anywhere in your room. So there are no plugs for 2 cPaps on the bedside? Do we need to bring extensions for this. Thanks.
We put our suitcases under the bed. You can bring extension cords or let Holland America know that you will need them.
Great tour! I'm curious if the sofa folds out into a single bed or a double?
That one did not.

If you are checked in, you should have both a boarding time and a boarding pass.
@TripswithAngie thank you. I just hadn't noticed it.
The swan is for “The Ugly Duckling,” by Han Christian Anderson, Danish Poet and Author.
It's not. It's a recreation of a famous Dutch painting. See previous comments.
What is that lil necklace thing? Is it free?
Yes. It was free and in our cabin.
We will be sailing on this ship in june to a long 30 day alaskan cruise. First time in this ship. Thanks for the video
What is the procedure for boarding on the ship on the first day. .
That depends on your embarkation port.

@TripswithAngie thanks. I think we will get lost on this shop. We usually cruise on another line.
@@TripswithAngie question, can i wear nice levis on Holland.
Does HAL provide shuttle (free or pay) in each port of call during your cruise?
No. Every port does not have a shuttle.
Do you have to sit with strangers to eat in the dining room?
No.

@@TripswithAngie looking at a July Alaskan cruise. Will be working on passport within a couple weeks. Yes US citizen. Thank you for replying.
@@kurthooley2887 Great! Email angie@tripswithangie.com with what you have in mind.
I'm thinking about doing a Japan cruise. Can anyone tell me whether cabins (sorry, 'staterooms') have irons and ironing boards?
No. It's a fire hazard. You can request one or there may be one available in the laundry room depending on the cruise line.
Are there any washers and driers?
No.
Pool outside heated in Alaska or x Pacific?
The Sea View pool? I'm not sure. The indoor pool had a lot of folks swimming and the outdoor whirlpools were warm.
Has this ship ever been to Cambodia?
Yes.
Thanks for the informative video tour of the ship.

Are they still flogging that bad art. Again and again.
There is an art auction.
10 days till I get on that ship?
Is it your first Alaska cruise? What excursions do you have booked?
@Trips with Angie This is my first trip I do not have any excursions gonna play it by ear for the most part. I know I want to do the train ride And the sea oters/raptors.
