My husband told me he wanted to see the Eclipse, so we made it happen. We had never seen a total one before, it was the coolest thing I have ever seen!! It was a crazy amount of driving but definitely worth it! We went to Burlington VT and saw it over the lake, so beautiful! It's so great you were able to see it with your family

man that solar eclipse footage made me cry like a baby- there's just something so special and human about people gathering to see things like that 💞
Also I am such a big supporter of appreciating your local trees. The magnolia blooms in Boston were some of my favorite parts of living there, and now I pause under every blossoming tree I see here in Scotland. The world has so many wonderful things when we have the time to see them!!

    • @caricakes

Yup. I love living in America. People here are extremely friendly. ie. My husband and I stand in line, when we have light conversations, people around us do eavesdrop, for all you know, they join in the conversation too and I like that. It’s very wholesome.
I moved here to Michigan from Singapore 6 years ago. And the Midwest has certainly rubbed in on me. It’s call the Midwest nice!

In central Texas we have a lot of flowering trees, but esrly spring starts with the best ones: redbud (purplish pink blossoms completely coating the leafless trees) and plums (beautiful white flowers that smell amazing). Its a great end to our short winter.

I really appreciate all the Louie content in this vlog. We said goodbye to our dog of over 16 years on Friday. Today was my first day having lunch alone in our home. I’m missing the sound of his feet on the floor as he paced around the dining table and the way he always decided he simply must go outside the moment my food was ready. It’s a big transition to being without his company, but getting to spend my lunch with Louie (and an equally adorable Finn) made it a bit easier. My family and I also saw totality for the first time and it was so amazing. We left early to drive a couple of hours down to a winery and spent a few hours hanging out drinking sangria , playing uno and eating our picnic before the eclipse began. It was an all together a perfect day.

I always think it’s funny or I should say interesting how some cultures hate small talk or talking to strangers. There are definitely places like that in the US as well. Having lived a few places now I’ve noticed how like a whole city can have that vibe where people are definitely closed off to community and then others you literally have to make extra time during your errands because you expect to talk to everyone you encounter. I didn’t come from a community minded area, so experiencing that at first was daunting. I realised it was a me issue I had to work through. lol now I adore it and would rather live in an area where everyone smiles and talks to everyone. I agree that it’s recharging. And there are definitely interesting and incredible humans everywhere. I’m with you, keep talking! You never know who you might meet. One of my first encounters was at a cafe, a man whom I thought was homeless I chatted up for several minutes. He was so insightful and kind. I found out from a local he was a famous author and poet. You never know!

omg the beginning of this video! I grew up visiting my grandparents in the town you showed and have been going to Second Reading my whole life! I didn’t expect to see that in your video 🥰 there is a barn converted to a bookstore as well called Baldwins Book Barn. You have to go! That is the most magical town

I saw the total eclipse outside Dallas where we had gone on the way to a cruise so it was fortuitous to say the least. Mind was completely blown, I'm totally obsessed now.

I never knew you were from SD!! I’m an SD native as well. I am still sad about losing Pannikin in La Jolla. I used to stop by all the time when I go antique shopping and cruising through Warwick’s 😢

Spring is my favourite season because of flowers spotting! Here in Vancouver we also have many streets of cherry blossom trees. But seeing them in Japan is still on my bucket list 😂

I got to see the solar eclipse at work and it was an experience! Also about the blossom trees, my kids and I live in an area of Kentucky that has them down our streets and I always look forward to them every spring because we have 3 different blooming trees and they are STUNNING!! Also there's a wonderful UA-camr I have watched for years and she lives in Oceanside now so I may be wrong but the surfer u captured could have potentially been them because they have a small white dog and her husband loves to surf as well!!!!

Watched this with my dog in my lap 😊 No cherry blossoms in my part of the world, but I do get crepe myrtle which I do try to appreciate even though they bloom in the hot, hot summer. Happy spring to all!
