Just thinking of all the time spent to make a great video. The time setting up and moving cameras, editing, commenting etc. Thanks for sharing a piece of your day with us.
Talk about yourself, I got me one, Only she uses wedge and sledge hammer for splitting rounds. Eucalyptus slows her down a little, but we managed to stay warm all winter.
@@rustynails.8550 Fair enough. Congratulations on having a partner who will split wood. My wife will work out in the gym for hours per day, but never get her nails dirty. She has other great qualities, just not likely to ever be spotted in the woods.

Mike, you have a good thing going there. You run the tractor and the levers on the splitter and Melissa does all the lugging of the wood. Hydraulic Mike and Manual Labor Melissa. You're a great team!
Mike and Melissa as always everyone has an opinion or everyone is an expert. You know what works best for you and your situation. I know nothing about about firewood or sawmills. I really enjoy your video. Thanks from a city slicker up in Ottawa Canada here’s a shout out to Eva, hunter and Hannah 🇨🇦
Melissa made an great point about preparation, people often forget about the time spent prior to the final product. There is a hardware store down the end of my street, they have most everything but are expensive but to divert to a big chain type store and save a couple of dollars, I've just wasted an hour of my time. You two are a great team, thanks.
Good morning Morgan’s. This is like having a friendly neighbor to speak to each morning. Love your videos....don’t see how you are able to maintain the pace but I do enjoy the daily vid.
With the way it splits, you don't have to maintain the pace for long periods, do some each day for a short period of time and it will get done. Pick away at it a little at a time.
Great video as always...I hope folks truly realize the work you guys put into all this...I’m hoping to have my family meet you all at Paul Bunyan show..be safe out there and God Bless
Mellisa, you are lucky to have a great husband like Mike. He is a great worker and is already thinking about the anniversary. He seems very mindful. Cherish him!!!
What a great team! The two of you are a force to be reckoned with. Your equipment and the methods you have developed are impressive to watch. Thanks for the video. By the way, I sure enjoyed the walk Melissa took running the dogs (earlier video). Yet again the beauty manifest on your property is just stunning. I thought “fern corners” was such place of solitude, and Melissa has put her personalized stamp on it with her table and bench! And Mike, your maiden voyage of the trailer delivery was sweet to watch. May God bless and keep you safe, and have a Day!
You do have a nice set-up with the splitter. But I love my processor, no picking up rounds and cutting with chainsaw just take a 14 foot section of tree with the loader and stand there work the levers and wala firewood. Can only handle up to 20 inches that's where your machine comes in. I do have a vertical splitter for anything larger. 👍 enjoy your vidjas
Good morning Melissa, Mike and Hunter the wood master, i now have another addiction must watch you all every morning but it,s ok just love watching you guy,s thank,s so much. My surgery is next wednesday,, looking forward to watching what you have next week love you all.
Mike, for you - this set up is just right. It's how you want and work it. That time on splitting the wood with Melissa stacking it on the splliter for ya is very impressive indeed. Waiting on seeing that new bucket in use. Have a safe day and give a HEY to Hunter.
My neighbor here in Ontario has a processor and does over 1000 Bush cords a year. He also has a welder on that thing every weekend repairing weld cracks. Lots of upkeep.
Another great video from the Morgans! You are 110 % correct firewood is a lot of work, everyone has there own way on doing things to make it easier some ways are better then others. But I agree cutting it up in the woods is the best because of the mess👍 . I'm hoping I can get the chance to get out to the show coming up. Keep up the awesome videos!
I have been cutting firewood for me, my dad and now my son since about 1976. I used to borrow an old Cornell splitter which is only a horizontal splitter. Now my son and I have a County Line 27 ton splitter which is both horizontal and vertical. For the past two seasons we have used a small wood processor and really like how it works for us. So far we can split just about any size log we have delivered. We all choose the method that works best for us and you have a great operation.
And I have to add to this with our set up with 3 of us ( I con a co-worker to help) we can do a tri-axle load in 2 full days easy and we don't have to kill ourselves!!!
You have a great system and you can stockpile rounds now and be able to split in the winter when the woods are sloppy. You are right about travel time when cutting poles at the renewable energy center is less efficient. Great teamwork when working at the splitter
I will never understand why people feel the need to tell you how to do things. You are a smart guy and you have figured out what works well for you. Just keep doing what you think is best.
Firstly because he asks for comments. Secondly because it's a man thing when presented with a process or problem we'll assess it and give an opinion. It's in-built. Thirdly When we ask for comments and questions, that's exactly what we expect. Fourthly the world's been built this way. Is the system broken?
I haven't laughed that hard in a while 😂 until I saw Melissa turn away and yawn! Trust me, you really love each other when you can get away that!! Yep! Been there, done that!
I absolutely love mine . I dont sell fire wood right now but I heat my home with a outdoor wood boiler and yes I could of gotten away with buying just a normal splitter but between work running my own lawn care business and now taking care of the family farm I dont have a ton of time . Plus I dont mind spending money on quality and I tell ya this thing is built to last and work . I've been splitting almost 3ft dim oak lately and dosen't even hesitate . Had some 2 ft elm didnt like the 4 way but no problem single I Opted for the 35 ton just to be sure I wouldn't ever have a problem getting though anything
No fox yet? Been cutting firewood for 30 plus years, your doing it right. Much better to cut it where it lies and haul the rounds , you don’t tear up the yard or trails dragging the tree.
I really enjoy all of your videos from hatchet throwing to kid's workouts, to Jeep reviews, but a return to your roots with a chainsaw, a tractor and a woodsplitter is very enjoyable too. Oh yeah, the blues music is always great. By the way, I love to read all the comments giving you advice how you should be doing things. I burn about two cords a year in a cabin in Westen NC and I started with a Poulan I got on sale at Lowes for $79, an electric splitter I got at Home Depot for $200 and I split out of the back of my pick-up using the electric spiltter set up on an old dining room table and I drop the split wood into a plastic 4-wheel trailer I bought at Tractor Supply. In the end, it is my perfect soluton. I did by a used Stihl on CL this year,, so I'm upgrading. My point is the right way of doing something is what meets your needs at your budget. It's not that I can't afford better equipment, it's just that what I have does the job. Keep up the great work and you need to get Melissa one of those "Sun's out, Guns out T-shirts so she can show off those guns.
I have the Wolfe Ridge 35 SHO and I split a LOADED 12FT dump trailer on my own in 1.5 hr. I spent more time loading the log lift then actually splitting. People should deffinatly get one
I know you have had a tough couple days Melissa, loading that wood in a third of the time that I thought you would! You are in really good shape, and I bet you shut some guys up! I saw the comments on that trailer video, those guys should be ashamed, and they don't give you credit or appreciate how hard you work taking care of the family and all the other things that you do! I am glad to see you taking more of a part in these videos along with Hunter and the girls, you bring something special to the channel, along with a beautiful smile!
Mike, all of that equipment is awesome but doesn't compare to the help that you're getting from Melissa. I am doing basically the same thing as you, getting home from work , cutting firewood off of a stock pile and selling around 30-40 cords a year using chainsaws and American CLS splitter, no elevator, no help, it's my gig. Occasionally I do have a helper. Another person makes a huge difference, especially when you're both on the same page as the 2 of you are. I'm envious of your set up, can't see myself with a processor either, although at times i think that it would work out. Keep up the good work, I look for your very helpful and informative video's every evening. Thank's for letting us into the going's on at the Morgan Family Ranch.

Good morning, Mick from the big island here, Missy you get an A+ on backing up today and oh, way too hustle on the fire wood today! Not a betting man but, Missy if you ever enter an arm wrestling contest I'm betting on you.
Your system is a sound one Mike & Melissa. It works real well... Generally speaking, I too cut my rounds where the tree falls or drag them out to an easier working spot. I try to avoid dragging as much as possible to keep the wood clean, with some exceptions... I hope to meet Chris in the spring at the Essex Jct. Expo here in Vermont in 2020. The BTR carryall seemed to handle dragging the cherry easily enough. I'm still considering getting one but I may build my own 1st for about a 1/4 the cost of Tim's unit. My thinking is the (5) gal. pails of salted sand I use for spreading would be better suited in a wooden carryall versus a metal one, so in the end, I just may end up with (2) carryalls! Bill on the Hill... :~)
Another great video. You do have a good system for cutting and splitting firewood, but most of us don’t have a wife named Melissa. Count your blessings everyday.
That’s an awesome machine, if Wolfe Ridge ever made a homeowner model like the TSC Huskee or Speeco kinda style vertical/horizontal splitter for us guys that only split 5-20 cords a year I’d buy one. Maybe you could ask Chris if that’s in the future? Thumbs up
Hey Mike and Melissa, great day started with the “Fox Patrol” on watch !! I really don’t think your method of gathering and processing firewood needs any improvements. The equipment you have and use so much is a fantastic set up and well manufactured for years of operation. Everything is well represented by your honesty. Why haul the rounds in the dump trailer? Take the splitter and conveyor over, fill the dump trailer with split wood, then dump that near the pile to stack. Great videos. Love your setup, very jealous...but I get ideas, too!! :)
Mike I think you should just buy a feller buncher and program it to saw to length straight into the dump trailer then haul it up and split it! Show them west coast guys how to get it done.
