Few here know, nor care that she did. Many of us are more aware of this mental illness today. It seems not only to add to her genius style of singing but since so many have sung this after her, nobody has come close to equal her version. Musicians today (and scores of years ago) have/had Bipolar Disorder and have created some of the greatest classical, and other music ever written. This has got to be one of the dopest songs ever. I feel she has not been given her “just dues”. More artists should aspire to create music such as this, music that you can actually feel. Not just something to dance or make love to. There’s only a few artists like Nina Simone who through there voice and cadence can inspire self reflective thoughts.
