- Hello Fun After 50 Fans!,
The weather was gorgeous and warm and the there were waves so it was about time that I finally surfed a session in November. The waves were gnarly but Sou West Surf Legend Andy VanBuskirk was there to surf with so out in the water I went. I didn't have much luck getting "out back" but at least I did get a few white water rides.
Luckily another local legend Karel came out to surf at the same time and gave Andy some company outside while I floundered around on the inside...Thanks Karel!
It's hard to see the surfers at times so it's sort of like playing "Where's Waldo" surf style. The guys and girls were way out there and it's hard to zoom in when the cameras are on tripods.
To all Armed Forces Personnel and Veterans who see this, please forgive me for surfing on your Day Of Remembrance. I did try to sincerely pay my respects...
Sincerely, John 😔

Dang John! I already went through these emotions once on the 11th. And I am proud to feel them again for our Veterans. Thanks for posting about Remembrance Day in Canada. Now back to the surfing action! FYI: My Grandpapa was a B-25 pilot in WWII. Can you imagine flying across the English Channel 17 times into Nazi Occupied France as a 25 year old Lt. Colonel & living to fight in another war 10 years later. Real heroes! Before that he flew planes posing as a Canadian to help get American aircraft into the European Theater between 1939 & 1941. After WWII he flew in Korea.
HI LIndsey, Wow! Your Grandpapa was a real hero! Those were some amazing accomplishments considering the circumstances of the day and then he went out and did it all over again in Korea! Thank you and God bless you so much for showing your emotions once again and sharing this story about your Grandpapa. Shelly's grandfather, whose name I showed on the monument, like so many others in the day, lied about his age, because he was too young, just to get into the armed forces to help in the war effort! Both of us in our respective countries are so lucky to have the peace and freedom that we do largely in part to all those brave souls like your Grandpapa who sacrificed their peace and freedom for future generations. Thanks again for watching my video and sharing your story. I greatly appreciate your comment. Getting close to your vacation out west isn't it? Cheers, John
