  • A Guide to Climbing Mount Warning Author Marc Hendrickx says “a single Aboriginal man” initially complained at the turn of the millennium about people climbing the mountain which ended up closing it to non-Indigenous people.
“The claims the park was especially sacred only emerged in the very late 1990’s,” Mr Hendrickx told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“I’ve got a beautiful glossy document here, ‘A Guide to Climbing Mount Warning’ which is published by National Parks in 1993 and it celebrates the climb, it calls the climb a staircase to the sky.
“There’s no mention in this document in 1993 that there were any problems with people climbing to the summit.
“National Parks had a billet of 60 people to attend the summit sunrise, to experience the first sunrise of the millennium ... a single Aboriginal man … claimed he had a problem with people climbing to the summit.”

Jacinta Price will be asking for a Royal Commission into where the money has gone if she becomes Minister for Aboriginal affairs if Liberal get voted in in the next Federal election. The Labor Minister for Aboriginal affairs at the moment is Linda Burney and she won't ask for one, she thinks they should have more money. Pauline Hanson had asked for a Royal commission several times but has been denied.

I heard a radio interview about 10 years ago with a man who claimed his family had lived and owned property near or about the base of Mt Warning for several generations and he claimed that the Bundjalung people had never been anywhere near Mt Warning . The radio interviewer asked if the council knew any of the details he was claiming , and he said that the council had all of this information that his family had submitted years ago but they simply chose to ignore it . I'm a little fuzzy on the details or this mans family name as this was about ten years ago i heard this interview on the radio . Surely the information that's needed could be acquired through the freedom of information act . Personally i feel these things will continue to alienate Australians from their own country based upon race , until our nation is so divided it won't be worth fighting for .

Yes, they are really not doing there cause any favours here! History says they never owned this land, and WE cannot be sorry for something that only they believe happened, and they will never be entitled to the "Sovereignty" they demand! They have more money and more rights than other Australian's already - and all the rest of the world's acknowledged first people too!

Actually in this case it is national parks and a handful of others that are making this ban, as at this time not even other aboriginals are allowed to climb it. As a claim of safety issues...I have not met one aboriginal in this area who is for the closing of Mt Warning (Wollumbin) to anyone.

Really the 'traditional owners' need to be told that all the roads leading to the site are White cultural heritage, as are the houses they live in and the cars they drive, the foods they eat, the medical treatment they receive and even the clothes they wear. Consequently we have realised that these White cultural facilities unfortunately cannot be made available to people of other cultures. They should move to the site and resume their esteemed and much respected traditional way of life.

I agree, illogical must meet logical! If we stop their income, power, security, road maintenance, facilities, what can they do about it! These FAKE CLAIMS keep becoming more ridiculous! They have never proven "ownership" over anything in historic Australia, or even provided any authentic cultural identity or genetics! They are a 3% minority, we are a nation of 270 equal cultures! 🧐
