Just imagine music like this forming in your mind, all the different sounds bouncing around in your head, focusing on the speed it all happens with my eyes open just makes me lose focus and I probably have a nice thousand yard stare, it's easier to close my eyes and listen to it. The best thing about this kind of music is it can overwhelm the senses because it's fast enough to make you focus on each detail that pops up, and the electrical feeling up your spine is pretty intense.
That's a pretty great description actually =] Sometimes I wonder if people with ADHD tendencies (like me) are drawn to this music because its so easy to let your attention flit from shiny object to shiny object.
Something about this genre and style of music really emphasizes the fleeting beauty of the simple things in life, and makes you feel so old and so young at the same time. At least to me.
I looked at the thumbnail. I had no idea what kind of music it would be. I knew nothing of the artist. I tried my best to enter with an open mind and... Amazing.
How can music be this amazing. This track always leaves me speechless, it progresses so well. The kicks at the beginning perfectly set the stage, especially when accompanied by those lush "plucky" synths (as I like to call em). Then the track becomes ambient almost with the same melody for a little, and the claps kinda just make the whole flow in the moment (and so do those 808s in the background). The strings just completely move me, and that kick constantly thumping hits hard to me, as the drums slowly roll in we get a nice little "Woo!" and then the whole track is just a blast from there. The arps, the bells, the synths, the drums, and those strings still sifting through the track. I really like the rhythm that just rushes in at around 3:30, it really gets you back moving. Plus the whole little melody you hear at the beginning softly set over some drum programming really gets me. And then lastly, the little cute melody that starts towards around 4:30 shows up and plays throughout the song, with little intricate synths and other motifs drifting off into the background, until eventually all of the little instruments meet up at the same time. It all just stops, and drifts away. What a journey this track is, and I could really say a lot of the same about the rest of Wisp's discography, but something about this track really resonates with me, it's a masterpiece in my eyes.
Seriously...fuck IDM...fuck labels...fuck generalization....fuck objectification of music...this jam rocks....that's all you kiddie-music-majors need to know...ENJOY IT! \m/
+MrShiffles objectificating and catergorising music is what brought me to this and tons of wonderfull masterpieces. What you hear is a subsection in IDM, why fuck IDM? i mean, it is electrical, great for listening to, not so great to dance to. IDM. If this is just scattered somewhere, not attached to an imaginary tree of music (i am a great advocate of the tree of music idea), i might have never found this. When someone asks me about my music philosophy, i reply: "Let me hear something i haven't heard yet".
Wait so he defines his music by a word and can't just like...listen to it? Wow, no wonder he hangs out with people like you. I'm surprised his music doesn't suck balls...

IDM like this always throws me back to my 20's when I would listen to AFX, Autechre, Wisp, Black Dog, etc. etc. RELIGIOUSLY.
this is a masterpiece.
i think reid is one of the most unsung minds in music..i hope he makes a return someday. luv ya buddy xx

I have ADHD and this song lights my soul up. I listen to it every now and then.

No man this is like sugar and afx is honey
I'm so obsessed with this song right now, and Wisp might be one of the most underrated musicians of all time. He operates on a whole different level.
I listen to Wisp almost daily, much love for making this music.
That little yell @ 2:28 makes this song for me, its just, so perfect sounding.
one of the best idm tracks i have ever heard by far.. knocks everyhting out of the park!!!!!!
Kind of ignored this one my first few times through Shimmering Hour, but it's really pretty good; I like how patient it is with its build.
This sounds like somebody I used to make music with when I was twenty, his name was ben, great guy beautiful music.he is a master.
This song is the very song that opened the doors of Wisp to me..... It has all been amazing.
Same!

Damn.... This song had a lot of meaning to it. Pretty & sick!!
it made me weep.
I run to this shit! Gets me pumped up to run some 7 minute miles.
Thanks just thanks
Alex Json But IT IS IDM, I'm just trying to tell the guy what it is, Wisp acknowledges the fact himself that this is, without a doubt, IDM.
Wait so he defines his music by a word and can't just like...listen to it? Wow, no wonder he hangs out with people like you. I'm surprised his music doesn't suck balls...

Reid's music is above and beyond tbh.
