- Police officers will face fewer barriers to obtaining court orders to protect victims of stalking, under changes announced on Monday.
Updated Home Office guidance means officers will no longer have to meet the criminal standard of evidence when applying for stalking protection orders (SPOs), and will instead have to meet the lower civil standard.
Victims minister Laura Farris said the changes would make “a big difference to how easily victims can access protection”.
She said: “Stalking is a complex form of abuse, and it can have a devastating impact on the lives of victims and their families. Sadly, it can end in the most tragic circumstances.
“We must continue to treat stalking with the utmost gravity. Having doubled the maximum sentence and introduced a new civil order to protect victims, we know there is more we must do.”
In 2017, the Government increased the maximum sentence for the most serious kinds of stalking from five years to 10 years.

I used to work at a large museum in Cambridge, I was forced to resign after making a complaint about two managers over sexual misconduct. This is a scandal. Stalking is a serious crime in the UK , sadly, a rich and powerful organisation do not need to obey the law of this country.
It is not safe for a stalker here…. I am not the one. 😅

Thing is their are two sides to every story, what else did he do to her, men, women get away with things then call it stalking, when they have hurt someone, and want no more to do with someone or the backlash to their actions, to be honest id hate to come across a male like that then turn it all round on you, not condoning stalking its awful but its a minefield
@LuceliaBerger Yes they refuse to let go its a human emotion, if he had slept with her given her words made her believe things just to get her into bed, isnt that also a crime mind washing someone then when they have had enough dump them think nothing of it lets go hurt the next and we will call them all emotionally unstable, no empathy from this man and what if he did anything to hurt this lady, maybe he should be careful of how he talks or engages with a women first before he slaps on a label, we all have emotions people are sensitive, but to me it seems like a get out of free card after hurting someone, and yes ive been here hurt by someone i was used by, silly me thought after words and being used that it was something more, narcissists can do this for their own gratification sometimes its not so simple
