Amazing talent. Not sure what impresses me more, your ability to create or the fact that you can push an awl through 3/4 of an inch of leather. Again, amazing. Thank you.
Looking at the thumbnail and description gave me a very different mental picture of what this was going to be. As it turns out, it's far more beautiful than I'd imagined! Thanks for sharing the making of this amazing piece.

I just purchased a French blade round knife from Terry Knipschield. I am going to try to duplicate your sheath. You did a beautiful job on it. Can you please tell me what kind of backrounder you used? Jim
I think I might have answered you on another thread about the back grounder but on this one I used a Tandy Craftool. Those Knipschield knives are beautiful, have fun with it!!
I'm not so good compared to some others. Reading material is good, also UA-cam and some DVD's. I'd recommend the Cary Schwarz DVD's on pattern drawing and tooling techniques. They're pretty expensive but if you're serious it might be worth it. Good quality tools and a sharp swivel knife certainly make a difference A book by Bob Park is an excellent reference. It can be bought from Barry King Tools. Another book book called Sheridan Style Carving is still available from Tandy Leather I think. But mostly I just recommend practice, practice, practice. www.caryschwarz.com/schwarz-productions/ barrykingtools.com/patternpacks.htm www.tandyleather.com/en/product/sheridan-style-carving Good luck!
Agar France compared to me sir you are a master of the art! I have only been doing leatherwork for a couple of months and I've made pouches & sheaths for knives, two holsters, Leatherman belt pouch, & a Zippo belt pouch. Each item turned out a little better then the item before it. I could reproduce the double sheath that you make in the video, but the tooling is beyond me at this point.
The oil is pure neatsfoot oil and I use all kinds of knives, round knives, straight knives, clicker knives, whatever works for the particular application.
marius alfsen I use it on either dyed or undyed leather but always before I put a final finish on. Most of the time I don't use another finish but if I do it's usually Tan-Kote for the more delicate things or Fiebings Aussie Leather Conditioner for the more rugged outdoor things.
Absolutely gorgeous! Stunning work.
Beautiful work. Very talented. Cudo’s my friend , the tooling is amazing.

You were born to do this incredible leather artistry. It's a grand gift. Thanks, 1926lady

What kind of paper are you using for your patterns? I've tried finding something like that but not sure where to look.
How thick is that leather, 14-16 oz? 16 oz= 1/4 inch.
How did you get so good at tooling? Any advice for someone just starting in the craft? Reading material, etc?

Beautiful job ! Thanks for sharing it.
What tool are you using to scallop-cut the rosettes ? Thanks
It's just a #8 round punch, I ground half of it away to make it a half-round punch
Makes a lot of sense, sorry for the silly question. Again, congratulations on your work
donde copro el papel y como se llama
great work! whatt king of oil are you using to get the nice brown collor? and what kind of knife are you using to cut that heavy leather?
The oil is pure neatsfoot oil and I use all kinds of knives, round knives, straight knives, clicker knives, whatever works for the particular application.
Do you find neatsfoot oil to be all the finish you need? Or is it just undyed leather you use it on?

i see :-) thankyou for your time :-)
Muito bonito, mesmo.
Perfect work!
What brand of awl do you use, please?
I think on this one I was using a CS Osbourne, I have so many awls, I just grab whichever one seems to be the right size for the stitching I'm doing
Wow!
Where can I get that tracing paper/film that you're using? I can not find either.
Roger Hardin Any art supply store has it, it comes in pads of various sizes
@@agarfrance9272 been to the art supply store too. Brand name? Maybe I can find it online. Thanks
