I'm old enough to remember playing Atari 2600 on a TV that had at least a hundred pounds of wood surrounding the tube... not to mention the ashtray my grandmother had on a stand that was almost waist high lol!
We had an Atari heavy six. My family was almost the only one in the neighborhood with one of those systems. It got a ton of play. We had to move at one point and packed the Atari and games in a regular trash bag. It was carried outside to the moving truck and someone stole it right then and there. This was devastating once we realized it hadn't made it to the new house. We later got one of the modernized 2600s many years later. And we learned to never put anything except trash in a trash bag.
I had a heavy sixer 2600. Some great times. Regarding the difficulty switches, switching to B was the easy difficulty, and switching to A was the hard difficulty. I had Yars’ Revenge. In the emulator, I was able to turn the score over. I might get one of these. However, Star Raiders, while it can be played, requires the keypad controller. If you don’t have that, then forget playing it.
I actually love how they did that LED with the connector straight to the LED. Granted, I'm sure that could fall off easily, but it's a pretty neat way to do that. Not including a PSU is pretty lame though. I don't understand that. I realize it ups the cost a couple of bucks, but to me, not being able to use a device right out of the box is lame.
I never had an Atari back in the day, but my next-door neighbor had one, I had a Grandstand tv console that just played sports games till I got a zx81 and then had computers rather than consoles and have never owned a console for personal use ever since, I have plenty kicking around but have never played them other than testing or repair .
I played a 2600 at my friend's house back in the day . My family was fortunate enough to have skipped it and went straight to the Atari 400 . I'm having a hard time convincing myself that I need one of these . Over the years I've picked up more than a few 2600s and clones that I never use already . I have a Vader , a Jr , a Sears Video Arcade II , Coleco Gemini x3 , and a Colombia Home Arcade .

I love how this is actually worse than an original Atari in one key respect, and that's loading games. My original 2600, I turn on, and I'm instantly playing. This, you have to wait. I know, it has other advantages and the wait is minimal, but still, that old, fast technology is so great. No layers of software needed to get old games running! It's actually kind of funny how the new 2600+ is probably orders of magnitude more complicated than the original, to do the same task.
