Brain holding them in a row of increasing saturation looks so beautiful! I think people going with a specific color scheme would be able to display them nicely with matching desk decor and stationery. I already have two Lamy's so Im not sure if I want even more haha! I like that they have more colors tho. I have my strawberry lamy and mango lamy, together I call them my condiment pair. Mustard and ketchup. I was going to get the cream one, for mayonnaise haha.
My children screamed from the other room that I need to see something. I ran over thinking something like an emergency had happened but NO. It was because they saw new Lamy colors due to this video. They automatically assume I’m already buying them and discussing which colors will be theirs. Awfully bold of them, lol. Fountain pens are giving me gray hairs.
Thank you guys! I have got into the world of fountain pens! I am from India and an eco freak student ! I started with the search for better alternatives to those use and throw plastic pens and refills and one day I suddenly found your channel, a channel so passionate about the writing experience and the writing instrument! The knowledge that you share really helps us, the newbies! Anyway being simple and minimalist, i decided to confine myself with three fountain pens.. i own first two of the list - lamy safari cream ( medium nib)(for taking notes), twsbi eco t clear (1.1 stub)( for headings etc).. the third one that I wish to own someday is pilot custom 823 medium nib! I just love the look of the pen, the piston mechanism, it's nib.. i first heard about it from your video where you were talking about top 7 fp's to last a lifetime.afterthat i watched all your videos and that wish has just grown on me! If you have to choose just three fountain pens , which will come in that list?
Yes Fountain pens like Lamy Safari and Jinhao 777 are a good start, I have started my collection last years and it building! Not like those Bic plastic pens even those that use _refiles_ waste of money. As to Fountain pens a converter is the way to go! Or if one is travelling a lot cartridges are also great, they can be refiled as well!
Brian is nothing if not thorough! Listen to one of his podcasts with Drew Brown when he takes a "deep dive" on a topic. Come up for breath after half and hour and you'll know the true meaning of "thorough"! 😁😁😁😁
The colors looks great together! They remind me of easter. I appreciate the comparisons to other pens and the estimated timeline of how long they can be in the store. I'll definitely check these LAMY out
I actually visited the Lamy store in NYC today, the saleswoman showed me these since they were setting up the displays today. That green is REALLY bright, a good color for people that can't stop losing their darker color pens. :>
Thanks for the color comparison to the so far existing colors, it really helped. And having watched the Pencast as well, i do not mind a bit of overlapping because usually Drew has the urge to 'take the new product apart' in his way and i love those short videos while taking a break. Seeing the product again in the pencast is a nice reminder and listening to both of your ideas then adds up to the whole Info that was spread.
As someone who is _obsessed_ with blue (especially light blues) Aquasky intrigues me. I'd like to use it with Diamine Florida Blue, Pilot Iroshizuku Ama-iro or Twsbi Sky Blue. They are darker than Aquasky but still in the same sky blue family.
I feel like any of Sailor's multi shaders would match well with pastel pens like this. The light pastelness of those colors feels like a more important component of the match than the actual strict color
Hi Brian, my name is Marisa, I'm from Portugal and watch every single Goulet Pen video. I've had a crazy idea long ago, but I thought it would be very hard and laborous to do. BUT... As you're already doing half of the work showing us nice matching colours for the newest pens, why make a curated sample kit for each pen selling them as an option with each of the pens? I think that would be awesome! My love to all the Goulet Team, especially to you, Rachel and Drew. Xoxo Marisa
When they come out with a group like that (or even just a pair), I tend to get just the color that I like the best. For instance, I got the Terra Red and the Cozy Cream Safari colors, but skipped on the Savannah Green and the Strawberry. In this set, the Aquasky "kind of" appeals to me, but I'm at the point where I'm asking myself if I REALLY need another Lamy Safari, unless it REALLY jumps out at me.
I prefer the matching trim. I like all of the new colors!!! Mmm Chiki rin. I like Dusk in Bloom but I have it in a paintbrush pen because it’s nearly unreadable.
i'm in LOVE with their total unicolour look, when i saw the Candy collection i immediately purchased it, along with their all black limited edition 2018
You guys don't sell them, but Octopus Fluids came out with a series of six pastel colors a few years ago (might've even coincided with the first set of pastel safaris). Having tried samples, I've found them all a bit too light to be practical, but they do match the pen colors pretty nicely. Specifically there's Crystal Blue as a match for Aquasky, Poppy Pods for Springgreen, and Cherry Blossom / Living Coral for Lightrose.
Time to make some "Franken"Safaris - - mix and jumble the finials, caps, clips and grip sections with your other Safaris or pull some from your parts box. " It's ALIVE, ha-ha-ha-ha! "
Lamy always does this... I don't NEED three coordinating Lamys but if I did, I'd get the SEs from any given year. They always look so nice together. Maybe it's my monitor but I seem to be seeing a little more slant towards yellow on the blue one than you are, so the ink I thought of for that one is Diamine Subzero.
Рік тому+2
Ink suggestions for aqua sky: Ink Industries "Cat at dawn", Ferris Wheel Press "Blue Cotton Candy", Pilot Iroshizuku "Ama-Iru" (tho more intense than this pen's colour) Ink suggestions for the green one: Ferris Wheel Press "Sweet Honeydew", Robert Oster "Australis Tea", Diamine "Vivid Lime" (a bit too intense) Pilot Iroshizuku "Chiku-Rin", Robert Oster "Chartreuse" (it has a touch of beige in it tho) Ink suggestions for light rose: Ferris Wheel Press "Strawberry Macaron" I would add FWP "Fluttering Heart" and "Central Park Greens" if someone fancies some glitter.
The aquasky looks like a ringer for a Carolina Blue. As a proud UNC alum, I've been trying to hunt down good (and readable) Carolina Blue inks. And so, if it is closer to Carolina Blue, I'd also recommend Sailor Ink Studio 143.
This year Lamy is scratching the itch I've got for a couple if years to never been able to get the Lamy pastels 2019, the Petrol and the Dark Lilac... I've always thought Lamy was overated and now look at me pinning for these pens!😅 Also in terms of inks, I would have chosen Diamine Spring Green for the green, J. Herbin Diabolo Menthe for the blue and Colorverse (a)Boo for the pink.
Herbin Vert Pre for the Green? Not always the most readable ink, but doesn't feel too far off. And maybe the Diamine 2022 Inkvent "Celebration" works for the lightrose?
I feel like Ferris wheel press has the perfect matches for these across the board. The pink one would look good with strawberry macaroon, the blue with blue cotton candy, and the green would be perfect with sweet honeydew!!!
Exactly my thoughts. FWP definitely have those very light inks that match pastel colours. Many will find them too light to read on the page, which is a pity because they're so pretty.
I came to suggest Sweet Honeydew! I think Three Steamboats would make a decent match for the blue as a slightly more aqua version of Blue Cotton Candy. Schneider Pastell inks are likely good choices for the pink and blue as well, but I’m not sure if they have a green.
What about Rohrer & Klingner Alt-Goldgrun for the Spring green pen? That's what I will be loading mine with when it arrives. Interested to see if the understated shade of the ink is the right match for the brighter pastelish shade of the pen.
I’m glad they are still making editions with the glossy finish. I bought one matte version and don’t like how it feels at all. I have two glossy ones and much prefer those.
In the Blue pen comparisons, the in-video texts are incorrect. AQUA MARINE is the one on the far right, followed by aquasky in the middle, and then BLUE MACARON on the left.
Thanks for this, very helpful! I am confused though by that one pen being called AQUA MARINE as I was going to buy the 2020 Safari SE AQUAMARINE and it's matte with matching clip and is more turquoise than blue. Did they call 2 different coloured pens with the same name?
I JUST got the powder rose in the mail a few days ago but like the new pink so much better! Looks like I'll be selling the powder rose.. BTW: What is the feel of these? When powder rose arrived I expected it to feel like the violet and cream safaris but it was slick like my pink one instead.
I always have to get all the colors of the Al-Stars, but the Safaris I tend to only collect the matte ones unless a color really wows me. It was a little hard to tell in the video, but it looks like these ones are “shiny,” is that right?
For the Springgreen pen, why not try Ferris Wheel Press Sweet Honeydew? And for Aquasky, FWP's Three Steamboats? None of FWPs pinks seem to come close to Lightrose.
I just bought the pink one. Can you use other ink cartridges in it besides the LAMY ones? Because you have some lovely colors in cartridges that aren't LAMY...
Lamy cartridges are proprietary and not interchangeable with standard international cartridges. You would need to get bottled ink and use a converter or syringe-refill the Lamy cartridge.
I couldn't wait, but I was expecting a bit darker colors... I prefer 2023 special editions Al-Stars. Aquasky can be matched with Lamy Turquoise quite well IMO.
Instead of matching, go with blending. So some of the aqua blues or turquoises might work quite well for the Aqua Sky. Several of the greens you chose for the Spring Green were quite good, I thought. Good choices for the Light Rose, but how readable are those inks?
SO GLAD I didn’t buy the cream yesterday because I LOVE THESE COLORS lol - Side note about the Sailor Manyo Haha, I really dislike it. It's so light and matches the lines of college-ruled line paper to a “t.” Very unaesthetic because there's no contrast on the page. Just a big light blue blob of blobiness lol :D
I think these pens lean towards matching Ferris Wheel Press inks Springgreen looks like it would match Sweet Honeydew, Aquasky looks similar to Blue Yosemite Falls or Three Steamboats, Lightrose looks closest to Strawberry Macaron.
I’m really trying to get mostly white and olive green pens to limit myself and I already own 3 lamys (white, cream and savannah green) but that pink is calling to me 😅
It is very confusing ...I thought that the BLUE WITH RED and WHITE WITH BLACK were the SE 2023....while the STRAWBERRY and CREAM were SE 2022 ( It is still on your website page on SE colors). In fact, I think I saw one of your vids too mentioning the same in the past...but I can't trace that old vid now anymore .. So, if these three which you are showing are the SE 2023, what pens are the BLUE WITH RED and WHITE WITH BLACK?? REGULAR EDITIONS? Am I missing something ?

How I decide to purchase fountain pens - "I WANT ALL THE THINGS!" - my wallet: "Slow down there turbo...". I am to green what Brian is to blue...so IF I have the funds before they disappear I feel morally obligated to get springgreen (and also, I want it because GREEN). Also, Sailor Ink Studio 167, because I feel a strong compulsion to own all Sailor inks before I die.
The Lamy Safari Powerpuff Girls
Are these pens also made with a resin composed of sugar, spice, and everything nice?
Missed op for Bubbles, Buttercup and Blossom. Copyrights eh?
😂I was thinking the SAME thing! No I need them all!
😂😂😂
The AliExpress assortment

You totally need the cream one!
Agreed! The comparison was super helpful.

Okie, I'm sold. Let's forever call Aquasky. "Ah-Quah-skee."
YUP, I can’t unsee it now 😂

I love them having a discussion on which ones they will 'borrow' from your collection. 😂

With this Lamy pens I am in heaven!!!
I just get the colors that I like. The aquasky is probably my winner for this year.

Did she say when they are gonna be released?
I adore pink pens. Definitely need that light rose color!
The spring green one is definitely my favorite! And that comparison of all the blues was so prettyyy
I laughed way too hard at Brian's aquasky joke😂
They are spring colors. Not my jam, but nice. The ink colors that were chosen to go with were superb!
Very cute. Make me think of spring 😊 I only wish they had matching inks like with the 2020 Candy ones

Diamine Spring Green?
It would be interesting to see how the Springgreen compares to the 2015 Neon Lime Safari.
Chiku-rin is the gest ink match of all of them, and a pretty nice ink, but then most of the Iroshizuku colors are.
It’s not one you carry, but Nagasawa Rokko Himalayan Blue is a good match for the Aquasky pen! It’s hard to find light blue that’s still legible but it’s the closest I’ve seen.
