I have the same issues! Are you sure it's related to the medicine? I wasn't told this much about it when I was given it, so I never thought these were side effects of my medicine.
I was prescribed the 25 mg yesterday to help with migraines and seizure. My Dr neglected to tell me about it's bad rep just the possibility it could help both issues and help lose a little weight from it but I've felt like crap since taking the stuff, feel out of it. I just had 2 falls from seizures and this med seems to increase my chances of a fall without even having a seizure.
I have been on this drug several times over the last 10-15 years and it helped but the only side effect that bothered me was some hair loss. I am contemplating going back on it again. Why do some of the seizure meds cause hair loss? Do they zap vitamin storages? I did find supplementing with extra vitamins and selenium to be a bit helpful but I still do not understand the reason why they cause hair loss in some. Anyone care to elaborate? Thanks in advance 😊
It caused me massive hair loss, I came off it but I'm starting it again after a year break I have been taking biotin & my hair is beginning to grow thick again. I'm going to be taking half the dose I was on so hopefully the hairloss will not be an issue I'll just have to see in 6 months as it took approx this long before I noticed hair falling before.
Drugs cause hair loss by interfering with the normal cycle of scalp hair growth. During the anagen phase, which lasts for two to seven years, the hair grows. During the telogen phase, which lasts about three months, the hair rests. At the end of the telogen phase, the hair falls out and is replaced by new hair.
My neurologist prescribed it to me for Tourette's, but I had to come off of it because my brain basically reacted to it like how LSD is portrayed in horror movies. I was trapped in a nightmare that I couldn't wake up from for like a week and a half. Also, before it got to that extreme, the drunk and stupids were not very helpful as I'm in college. I was afraid my grades were going to start dropping.
Hey dr, I have adhd and am going to be put on topamirate, will the side effects be different since my brain is wired differently and drugs like caffeine has the opposite effect on me compared to neurotypicals.
Hello, Doctor kindly can you help me with this , I'm having an issue with my father medication and really Indeed to your advice or concern about his medication . Thanks
Hello doctor, Can you please let me know if I was just recently put on a 250mg dose of keppra twice a day how long will it take to stop my seizures will it work straight away, Thank you doctor
Well, everyone is different, so I can't really answer your question. That dose is on the lower end of what I commonly see and use with people, but as I always say, "Your mileage may vary!" I have patients who are seizure-free on that dose, for example, and others for whom that is totally not enough. Best of luck with the new medication! I hope it works for you.
I’m prescribed this med starting at 25mg/day for weight loss and alcohol abuse. Mostly for weight loss to combat the weight gain of other meds. I really hope it works. I’ve gained 20lbs since I started Lexapro and Seroquel. Wish me luck doctor 🤞
It would be interesting to see a video about the Ketogenic Diet and how often that’s been recommended by a neurologist. Probably a lot different of a perspective from a mostly clinical /seizure treatment one than it is as a popular diet 🤷🏻♂️ I was just thinking that idk lol
The true ketogenic diet is pretty awful to eat, I hear. So much fat, very few carbs. It has generally seemed to work best with kids, probably because they don't make their own meals.
Andrew Reeves Neurology I’m doing its not that bad lol been for 2 months. Just have to keep it interesting. Otherwise it probably would be awful. There’s plenty of recipes online which I suppose the ingredients and specific items wouldn’t be budget friendly for others but yeah I’ve been doing it for Bipolar along with medications and doctors onboard, not motivated by weight loss. So I’m pretty motivated because having bipolar is a living hell It’s one the newest things coming down the pipeline in psychiatry lol. It’s very new and “off label”, only case reports, so who knows what gonna happen to me. Praying
I take it for stop binge eating and My Bipolar. Thanks for the video
It affects my memory, ability to spell, and speech.

My mind feels foggy and I only am prescribed 25 mg and only take it once a day for my migraines it’s because of these isn’t it?
I was just prescribed it to help with chronic headaches. I do need to lose weight so let's hope this is a "two birds with one stone" situation.
How its working so far? What dose are you on
I do take that medication for migraines (150mg) and so far i’ve lost 30lbs
@@nikkilucila5061 I take this medication for my migraines (25mg 3 pills daily) and I’ve lost 33lbs.
@@chaneljohnson3543 how does it make you feel? Side effects wise. When i was taking 4 pills 25mg each, i was having panic attacks and so much anxiety.
Thank You Sir.
Just started topomax today. I'm worried about the suicidal side effects. I already have those & hote it doesn't get worse
How are you doing? It’s something I worry about too.

Thank you for your professional advice. Really useful. Topamax is used for weight loss by some.
I take 6 25mg tabs daily for years and I have not lost any weight unfortunately. They do however help me sleep better at night.

How did it go for you? I am starting it today and also have adhd.
I was asking if it showed up a a dirty drug screen in a methadone clinic?
...something tells me you might have the chance to find out!
Good information, thanks 🙏
Glad it was helpful!
