Meditation on a Theme by Abdel Wahhab (original unabridged version) - Solhi Al-Wadi

This elegiac composition incorporates two main themes from the song "You, my Life" by the known Egyptian singer M. A. Wahab. Its tripartite structure bears the tempo markings Lento-Allegro-Lento. An atmosphere of nostalgia and yearning for things past prevails, expressed by a solo cello in the main key of F sharp minor. The contrasting middle section unfolds agitatedly, imbued with energetic rhythms. This work is not an arrangement of the song nor a conventional theme with variations.
