In an exclusive investigation last month this programme reported on more than 250 famous Britons - from film, tv and social media as well as politicians and journalists - have been targeted, including our own presenter Cathy Newman.
She's been speaking to Safeguarding and Victims Minister Laura Farris.

She's a woman like me, and she works hard to give us good investigative information. I'm also protecting our kids from toxic culture online. The next generations are our future 🙌 and we as a society need to make sure we set a good example for others that are younger than us, so that they will grow to become good members of society, like we are.

There's the problem of what EXACTLY is porn. Ordinary women could potentially be prosecuted simply for using a filter on their own photos. If they're making themselves look more attractive, that's fake.

There should be no law banning the creation of art or of artistic expression.
IF however, that art is considered to be of subject matter which is not suitable for certain audiences... Then restrict the ability to display it publicly.

so they could in theory track it back to the account that uses the api key (as thats personally identifiable to an email which can then be tracked assuming its not fake too)
That lady speaking, how did she discover she was a deepfake? I'm well experienced with online stuff, i know a lot about Stable Diffusion/Unstable Diffusion, but i can only assume it was tagged with her name or the culprit shared it among their peers and she was informed. I've never actually seen a deepfake site or even know the name of one.

I'm already seeing comments saying "no chance" and "you don't own your likeness" ect. The point is that it's inherently wrong. This law isn't just about gratification. This can and would be used for extortion. In the wrong hands, honour killings could be made. It could break up families or partnerships and alienate people from friends and family by stalkers - who would be more willing to make this content of their desired interest; people, women could be killed because of the thought they have done this. Men could be "outed" and not even be of that sexual persuasion.
It could cause catastrophic consequences, and to deny that is ridiculous, we need to be sensible and protect the vulnerable. Children could and would be victims too. Our babies and children who will grow up into the future we are shaping today. I would bet there is plenty of AI CP out there already.
I ask, before making a smart comment, just think for a second. Don't just look at this as the simle "making of a video", in the wrong hands, this could and would have hugely dangerous consequences for so many people, women, children, and men.
I am sure this content creation will continue regardless, but in secret for personal use, no one is the wiser. Not to humiliate, extort, do the worst. The point this law has made, is for dangerous and malicious intent. And please, lets be honest, it could be so extrememly dangeours for the person whom someone has fixated on that is unlike the regular "Joe" someone who wants what they can't have and will manipulate to get it or hurt in some way.
Please, let's acknowledge and recognise the damage this could bring 🙏 I know we can't stop it completely, but by women AND men coming together to make this safer, there can be a way forward in this. What way, I don't know. But we can't ignore the dangers it could pose. The lives it could destroy. Together, we can all make this safer for the vulnerable. Our brother, sister, friend at work, the child in our lives.

Already true for many celebrities. They own their own likeness, it's copyrighted or something. So you could sketch them for your own use, but not to publish or make money from it.
A photograph is owned by the photographer. If an artist wants to use an image for inspiration, there are websites you can use, or pay for, where people have given permission to anyone to use their image for art
Whether a picture of a tree or a portrait, you can't distribute it or sell it with permission. Even if your art inspired by their image looks nothing like the real thing like you weren't trying to make it look realistic

On UA-cam, I've seen some very artistic portraits. Some deliberately cartoony.
You could take portrait face picture of Sydney sweeney, make her a blue female naavii from avatar, but nude. That's now against the law due to this law.
You can pick up a pencil or paintbrush and make whatever art you want.

I think because alot of people, like me, can see that the deepfakes are so obviously fake oand not real. It's basically a cartoon. That one we saw at the start with Cathy looked NOTHING like her! Looked nothing like a real human being. I, and I'm guessing others, just think the governments time could be spent more wisely in other areas.
