So strong - as a teenager I heard them on the radio(in the seventies in south of Sweden) on the schoolbus with their megahit and instantly fell in love.
I swear that the French language was invented for song. These two magnificent ladies take it to a different level. Even if you didn't know what they were saying you would still get the feeling. I love them when they sing in French.
A wonderful song that evokes the spirit of Quebec - you can imagine the villages along the St. Lawrence - like all McGarrigle songs it transports you to a special place.
Their songs sometimes remind me of miraculous dreams - the kind that can lurch seemingly chaotically between startling sounds and images but create a sublime and beautiful dance, always very human and joyful and true.
I heard this song for the first time this past January 5, when Kate's son Rufus sang it with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta and fell in love with it immediately. I heard them do it again on January 7 in Leiden.
It really doesn't get much better than this! Comment ce dit ça en français? J'ai oublié presque tous que j'ai appris à l'école il-y-à très longtemps... :-)

No matter how you play, arrange, produce, this song, it's good and it's timeless.

thank you so much for keeping the unique sound of kate and anna alive.
No idea why this song touches me much. Anyway, Kate and Anna will never be replaced. Noone can top their true voices ....
Fuck, was this a great Album...
I'm speechless...
(Pat, Switzerland)
just possibly the greatest song of all time. life's mystery and tragedy and romance and adventure all in one song.
Une chanson parfaitement "sadhappy". Triste et joyeuse en même temps. Ce sont les meilleures.
Kate, we miss you forever. Anna, you sing so purely here ! Beautiful !!!
