North Borders What did you do to import export from photoshop to Lightroom? Are you exporting a PSD or something? Still can’t wrap my head around the proper way to do it lol.
Instead of masking those black pixels away around the headlights you could also set the layer blendmode to "Screen". Black pixels will then become invisible and lighter pixels remain. If you have the inverted situation where you want white pixels to become transparant and keep the darker ones you'd use "Multiply". Perhaps this didn't yield the proper result for your situation but I wanted to share this tip for your viewers anyway. Thanks for your video's, I love your creative work, channel and authentic style (with the occasional swearing) ;)
@@LucasJohnsonVisuals Correct, although I do find Screen often blends a little nicer around the edges if they fade off softly. You can always compare those two and it makes for an easier blend than masking it manually.
Honestly, this looks not good at all plus the post-production is just basic and too complicated (go into PS and use the pen tool to draw proper masks)...this should have been lit separately, either strobed or lightpainted...
so it's just about: - taking various *normal/under/over exposed photos* (so you can bring some details back in post-prod) - focusing the attention of the viewer on the *highlighted object* - using *masks* to *desaturate, color corect,* and basically *clean up* the image.
There is an easier way to add the underexposed layer for the lights at 4:56. Make sure you have every picture aligned properly and then change the blend mode to lighten for the underexposed image with just the lights. That avoids the step of having to manual paint out those portions with a layer mask.
5:41 Tip, Use the blending modes instead. If you choose lighten or raster you don't have to do the masking! Very easy way to blend different exposures together! Love your videos!
You could do the headlights alot quicker with blend mode over by the layers, choose «lighten» and only the brighter bits show through. I do this with multiple flash images of cars usually 🙂
For the lights, instead of brush the mask and this is going to sound like MAGIC, don’t even crop the layer at all and just change the blend mode of the layer to lighting and be amazed 🤩🤗 Love your videos
You know what I love about you man... you always say what your doing and you keep the intro nice and short you always tell us your aperture, ISO, shutter speed, exposure, everything we know it all because of you. And I have yet to come across a UA-cam account for photographer which is anywhere near as in depth as you. So overall welcome bro and keep up the good and even amazing work!
I am kinda experienced with Photoshop. So I kinda think just brushing on a layermask is a bit time consuming .What I recommend is making the layer a layer mask.Go to select drop down menu at the top and click colour range. Then click on the black part of the image with the eye dropper and mess around with the fuzziness until you get a desired output. If anything extra is erased use a white brush to bring it back.Hope it helped 😄
Really loving the car content, it’s super inspirational and informative! I’ve been doing automotive photography for years, and I still learn something new after each of the videos you’ve been doing! ☺️ I really hope you keep doing more car videos.
Second night as a subscriber and you're really making me want to change my niche. I've had some request for car photos so I think I'll finally do that.
At the end of the masking part another good thing is keep lifting your finger up so it saves. If you have to undoo it will be a small portion! Great video bro
female photographer here☺️❤️ just wanna say i love your channel and you guys are honestly so cute and seriously hard working and inspirational. sending my love from the US and i hope to meet u guys one day
Ok obsessed with your work and definitely a person i look up to buuuuuuut your kitty just took all my attention haha ...... would love to catch up with you and check your work out next time your in sydney
Keep the camera on a tripod, use a long focal length if you possible for max compression (even if you end up shooting from a silly distance), use long exposures to keep low ISOs, bring a couple of lights with colour gels, do as many exposures/shots as you need to light or darken every part of the car with a vision in your head of how they'll look composited together (not just a couple like this guy), and watch some videos of actual pros shooting cars at night.
Quick tip, time the photo with a mate laying down in your car. At the signal make him flash the lights real quick during that L.E shot. That way you get a nice headlight shot without photoshop
😂😂😂 that intro, I fucking love your style man. All I can say is keep up the great content bro. 0 fucks given to being demonetized and more interested in bringing out helpful videos 🤘🏻
Hey, I recently found out a cool wa, to shoot some cool night photos of cars. So you take a long exposure picture for example of the front of a car. Then you take another long exposure picture with the exact same framing, where you run around the car with your phone light, creating cool light rails. In Photoshop you merge those two photos together, by selecting "difference". Sometimes you then get the cool effect, that the background gets dark and just the car is exposed. You should try it out :)
Mate! Never would of thought of making an underexposed image for the headlight! I haven't got the equipment like yourself I have a Panasonic G85, basic boy I know thinking of getting a 42.5mm (85mm EQ) lens to do portrait lens. I guess where my images may not be as detailed as yours I can make up with fast lens? Not sure, if I had the coin I would love to go Sony.

You're like Peter Mckinnon but with more swearing, and i love it!
True that but still they have something special in vids peter has too but they are pretty same and different at the same time
Feel like He’s also more blunt and honest about everything which I like
This guy is still learning ropes. Pete is a pro.
@@chosenideahandle Yeah sure but Mike have fun while doing this pete is strictly pro oriented 😉
Serious GaminG true, it’s good to have fun. It’s supposed to be why we do this in the first place🤷🏻♂️.

Stefan Ellis or turn the layer to lighten and then boom, ya done.

Yes. Lighten can cause a nasty fall-off. Screen for dodging and Multiply for burning is usually the way to go.
