I also just wanted to let you know that the Plain Jane and Ninhydrin Palettes are available again for preorder. They’ve sold out multiple times, but I believe this preorder is staying open until March 7th. Link is in my description box ❤️
I was able to order plain Jane today but it was still showing ninhydrin out of stock. I'm going to check again. If I'm not mistaken, we can't buy any of the colors in that palette as singles. Do you know if that's true? It would be nice because I could probably get by with just 5 of them to go along with plain Jane. Then I could build it up a little at a time with singles!

Okay. So I have to geek out about the name of this palette. I LOVE that it's a purple palette named ninhydrin. Ninhydrin is a reagent used in research and clinical chemistry in spectrophometric analysis of amino acids and peptides. Long story short, solutions containing a ammonium is turned PURPLE in the presence of Ninhydrin! :D
VIDEO REQUEST:
Could you make a video (or a series depending on how much you have to say) on the best indie brands for each finish? So the brands with the best shimmers, the best mattes, best metallics, chromes, etc. Because I find myself wanting to order during sales but I still don't want to pay for a bunch matte singles from a brand known to have a subpar matte formula but great metallics.
I know that's a BIG ask but you've tried so many indie shadows and I trust your opinion 😊 I'd be very grateful💜

I'd love to know her thoughts on best mattes, especially darker colors or colorful mattes
The price tag is 😬 BUT when you break it down that's $5.60 a shadow. Compared to other indie brand prices for multichromes that's not bad, providing you like all the shades. If you only want 2 or 3 shades then yeah, ouch.
Yeah I have fallen in love with just making my own with indy brands singles lately
The mattes look so muddy and underwhelming compared to the shimmers, they shouldn't have included them in the palette.
Would be amazing to see comparisons of these two palettes to the Clionadh glitter multichromes

I think one of indie brands biggest downfalls is shipping/production times. Waiting 3 months for an American made product... idk. I understand their struggle but hopefully growing will cause the company to pour money into faster production, hiring more workers, etc. bc the quality is unparalleled!
I understand it is a really long wait. Hopefully they can catch up to their demand 😊
Also somethings are just like always sold out 😅 I have been trying to get my hands on the arturine blush palette from menagerie cosmetic forever! They closed down from like after Black Friday till end of February. And then that sold out before I even knew the sale happened. I would love to support small businesses but half the time I can’t even buy the products.
I’m also still waiting to get that it’s freaking bats palette from shroud cosmetics from the pre-order in October. Been very upfront about everything so it’s fine but like I really want the palette!
I don’t understand why Ninhydrin is more money 🤔 I think PJ is a better value for my makeup preferences but $70 and a 6 mo wait 😫😫 I just can’t decide!!! (1st world prob, I’m completely aware lol)

Ok so I have plain jane but skipped this one. I just thought the price was high with 2 of the shades being matte. Some of the shades are beautiful but not enough to change my mind. Amy you look so pretty as always and thanks for ur hard work
If I’m going to throw down that kind of money at once, I’d probably order singles I like and curate my own version. I have plenty of mattes that I enjoy. I’m just looking for those special shades.
Amy I would love if you would do a video comparing this palette and the Plain Jane to the itsbelcosmetics Break the Rules Palette! I'm definitely picking up the Break the Rules eventually as it's more in my price range but it would be great to see how it compares to the Adept palettes. I'm hoping Adept releases these shades as singles so I can pick up the ones unique to my collection (a lot of them remind me of shades I own from JD Glow, Clionah, Devinah, etc)

Thanks so much for this video! I purchased the Break the Rules palette as well as the You Beauty palette so I am gonna hold off on the Ninhydrin and the Plain Jane. I also don't want to be waiting for a palette for literally 5 months. I may move in July so I'm not thrilled with the idea of a rather pricey palette possibly having to get reshipped
Maybe my chem nerd is showing, but I wish they had leaned into the chemistry theme and named the shades after different indicators, since ninhydrin is one. They could have done phenolphtalein for that pink, and there are a bunch of blue/violets like thymol blue and methyl violet that are similar to some of the shades in the bottom row. Bromocresol green is similar to the green, too.
i ordered Kodanne and Plain Jane on the pre-orders. this video definitely helped me decide on the Ninhydrin palette. i was on the fence so glad i watched. i’ll wait for the next release and pass on this one.

I have. Notoriously Morbid loose pigment multichrome that looks very similar to the second to last shade. I need to pull that beauty out and use it.
I did pre-order both palettes with your code (thanks again for saving me some money!) And am very excited to get both of them and play... Still have a few months, but I think it'll be worth the wait haha
$68 is so much money right now. Especially for a palette that you won't receive for five months. I understand why it's a preorder, but it still sucks & I wish I didn't have to miss out come July/August.
I'm not impressed with thier pallets at the price points. Especially after you factor in the insane shipping cost as well.

I wanted this badly but glad I missed the preorder. This is the second swatch video I watched and they DO NOT look like the "no primer, no filter" Instagram photos at all.
The Sigma e38 is one of my favourite brushes as well 😅
This is a miss for me, especially at a higher price point than the plain Jane. I think the packaging is nicer but that’s not enough to justify a higher price when this includes 2 mattes and a diamond shade instead of all special i shades.

I am a matte fiend, so even though it's 2 shades and I love the colours, them not being great is a dealbreaker. Plus some of the shimmers didn't really pull me in that much. I was kinda tempted, but shipping stopped me, now I feel like I'm not missing out.
Are the shimmers on the palettes available for purchase? I am in love with their shimmer formula.

i have two eyeshadows very similar to that first taupe / purple-y matte shade (from two different brands), and with both i have the issue that they feel dry and don't apply easily on the skin. i thought it was an issue of them being pressed too hard or drying out easily but i wonder if it has anything to do with the pigments? it might just be coincidence though.

I think I would like the plain Jane better but I wonder how the break the rules palette from itsbel would compare. The price is Definitely better on the break the rules.
I believe Karen Harris compred the two and 4 of the shades are near dupes, so I'm torn on trying to get in line for Break the Rules pre order since I already pre-ordered Plain Jane.
Amy have you heard of chaos makeup? I want to order from them so badly. I had one bad experience with them, but I want the new halo or whatever eyeshadow so bad, just wondering if you have any experience there
I think, Milly / badtothebrow once mentioned them and kind of warned about them (she mentioned that there was chaos cosmetics and chaos makeup and not to confuse them or something :/). Sorry, I'm not completely sure right now, but maybe ask her for this? >_<

The mattes are kind of bummers... but I think the rest is very pretty though... I did cave and got plain Jane and this one because they are discontinuing these... hopefully I will love them when they get here

@@AmyLovesMakeup since there are 2 mattes in the Ninhydrin, which retail for $3 each compared to $8 for the ACD & ACI shades, the total price difference is $16.
@@cjaneg97 you can do the brand and she’ll reply. She told me basically everything costs more because the pallet was made in America outer packaging too. The singles are made in China which is why it’s gonna be hard to make the formula in singles. Something like that. I prefer cosmetics made in America
The fact that Sandra is making the special singles in China is interesting. I thought the long wait times and the site shutdown is because Sandra is making them all...

I just looked it up and some people think it is Irish slang, some say it originated from when God asked the Israelites to sacrifice cows, and some believe it comes from the Hindu belief of reincarnation. Really interesting.

I had a feeling alot of people will be let down after getting so blown away by the plain Jane palette after watching Karen comparison between plain Jane and I can't think of new brand u have their palette also its the one Annette 1st tested and then everyone bought it its a 9 pan but all 9 of them is exactly the same as plain Jane shades

How long will they last seems this is just a finger type cream formula and some people people are just like not in not digging in the fingers in especially in this times and price is to much money better of with natasha denona palette if you going to spend the higher part money or pat McGrath if not own any pallets but this pallet still like price down especially if they would not last on just for 3to6 hrs review cream shadows really depend upon how they are done and sometimes are stack with matt colors to last longer is hack seriously of same cream shadows. I just know my auntie was in cool buisness.
I’ve worn this formula for over eight hours with no primer and they still lasted great. I personally like using my finger but you don’t have to.

Including those mattes instead of reformulating them is almost dishonest... especially when the Instagram photos looked so STUNNING... it should have been an 8 pan palette or all iridescent shades ...It is a weird judgement call.
Amy, I believe you are excited but when it is said in every video it comes across as a tag line and meaningless rather than a genuine expression.
Just an opinion from a long time viewer that enjoys your content.

@@AmyLovesMakeup I feel excited every time I try new makeup, especially from an indie brand, I probably sound repetitive to my friends when I gush about my new makeup loves but that doesn't make the sentiment less sincere 🙈 It is exciting to try something new, and for me it's extra exciting to be trying a new brand and knowing that you're supporting a small woman/BIPOC-owned business
(I'm waiting for a Copecetic order, which is a Black and Hispanic owned business, I really hope I'll love them!)
