The manual should just be a link to this youTube ! ... You saved the day. One suggestion for fellow readers. When putting the screws into the extruder and the fan baffel ... put a sheet of paper over the bed. This way when you drop a screw, it does not fal between the bed and the bottom plate. (It took me 15 - 20 minutes to get the darn thing out.
Overall the video is good. Clarity regarding Left and Right extruders. I’ve owned a couple of QiDi printers and in the video you might be mixing up the left vs right side of the printer. This is very import as to prevent miss prints at the very start of your print.
I have been researching this printer and debating whether to get it or not and I have to say your video was EXTREMELY helpful. I'm more inclined to get it now because the reviews have been solid and seeing your in-depth video with some honest pros/cons was awesome. Thanks for doing this video.
Awesome video! incredible well explained and objective. I been printing for 3 years with a qidi x-pro and I had that problem with the building plate. If you DONT apply any glue or fixing to the plate some materials will bond with it and will be very difficult to remove. I lost like 3 plates already. Using a razor will cut some of the material, or even forcing it will cut it too (with the hand). I found out that when is too fixed to the plate, putting it on the fridge will help to remove it. The always put a glue or something soe there is a thin layer between the print and the build plate, and will be easier to remove. This printer building plates are exactly the other way around, you need glue so the piece dont stick too much hahaha Thanks for the video, I was thinking to purchase this as secondary printer, to print the same models that I'm printing repletely and keep my x-pro for new designs.
Was literally about to buy an ender 3 v2 with all kinds of accessories and parts to build an enclosure...came out to more than this unit actually. I'm tired of having to upgrade things to bring them up to par. I'll leave this one in my cart for a day and see if I settle on it. It's either this or a Sindoh..
I bought mine and it should be coming in at the end of the week. Is the dual color printing something that you have to design first or is it something you do with the slicing program that comes with it (like the frog you printed, did you design out those stripes in your CAD software or in the slicing software?)
Yes so it's basically two different models that are then overlayed. Watch a video on dual color printing! You can also download and print that same frog I did from here: www.thingiverse.com/thing:329436. If you are using the Qidi slicer you need to overlay both models and then right mouse click to merge or group, I forget which is which.
@@AJRobinson you know why when I brought my two stl files into the qidi slicer they didnt drop in the position that they were designed in? Is there a setting in the slicer to fix this or do I have to design the parts a certain way?
@@boostedskyline Open up both models in the slicer, treefrog_hollow and treefrog_solid. For the hollow, click on the model, and then click on the left extruder option. For the solid, click on the model and the right extruder. Then hold the shift key and select both, right mouse click and choose "Merge Models". You should now see a yellow and red mashup indicative of the R and L extruders. Slice it, and if you do a layer by layer view (bottom right toolboar) you can un-select one of the extruders and see the gaps the other extruder will fill.
Followed you in step to step until I power on my printer and got a white heavy smoke underneath!..after that it released some oil/fluid and that was it🙆♂️.
@@AJRobinson I think it has to do with voltage issues..first i followed the procedures provided by their book on how to assemble everything until i find out i couldn't lift up the base (where flash is located underneath) so i had to find a UA-cam video that might explain better so here i was and unfortunate thing happened..Later i had to open the printer base to find out what was the issue, and surely the 24v power supply is fried as it was still leaking some kind of oil and still smelled like a fried circuit. Unfortunately the power supply is the only subject they didn't touch in their manual (may be on the flash that is still stuck!) so no any point of reference for me.
@@AJRobinson Am not expert in electrical related issues, but where i live we use 230v 50Hz, so i think maybe that's the issue since i bought it from Amazon and maybe they adjusted it to USA 110v (60Hz?)
Do you recommend that 3D printer? Is it worth the cost? I am really thinking of buying this and don't know if the second extruder is worth paying that amount. I will add that it is going to be my first 3D printer.
@Don Gray Some strange things are happening with QIDI. Like most of their printers are no longer available on Amazon. Don't pay more than $600 for it. Good luck.
Settings for this printer are exactly like every other FDM printer. Maker's Muse here on youtube has very excellent videos on learning how to setup your printer. Each printer requires a little bit of tweaking!
I used to paint car when you get stringy like that is because the surround temp is too high. Maybe if you low down the extruder temp should solve your problem.
@@AJRobinson apologies, the floor of the printer in your video is a stand still, where some printers floors/beds move with the printer head, as to save on distance traveled for the head. are you familiar with any printers that do this?
Something is wrong with the heaters or the thermistors. Try to manually heat up both extruders and the bed individually, one of those 3 should either not heat up, or show that it's not heating when it is. That way you'll know if it's a temp sensor problem, or one of the heating elements is bad
Just pause the print, go to the menu and heat up the extruder, then go manual control menu and unload the filament. Then load it back up, make sure to extrude some to make sure it's primed and then hit resume
Hi ! I have a question, is it possible to print water soluble support with the quidi x-pro? I am a little bit confused about the difference of dual extruder systems and independent dual extruders! Thx alot for the great review!
so I got one, and here is a major flaw of the duel extruder, if one of the extruder is positioned out of alignment +/- 1mm, It will continuously destroy your prints, as they are side by side and move together. I initially thought this would be great....but now its just crank in the shaft in my hobby
They should have been calibrated but depending on who you got it from, clearly they might not be. There's 2 things you can do, adjust the head yourself. It's not that hard to do. Or you could print with the lower head only, and you don't have to worry about your problem.
It can print TPU, which is a flexible filament. As I'm not sure as to what exact filament you are using I'm not sure. If it's similar to TPU, you should be fine as long as you play with the settings a bit
@@AJRobinson Thanks for the feedback. That would have been the main reason I bought this. I put off getting in on account of having nowhere to put it though. It's very bulky for such a small build volume.

Thank you!

Really great video. Have you got one for QIDI TECH i Fast FDM 3D Printer?
Unfortunately not! Send me one and I'll review it :)
Good job on this vid. There have been many times when I wanted to do your original torture test on my 3d printers'
how loud is the printer when printing?
Like I said the fans were a bit too loud in my opinion, but the printing sound levels was "normal".
dude this is so well done! you may have sold a printer! I have been wanting a dual color printer
I got one and the duel extruder is a headache if the alignment gets off even a mm

0.0025 um z-Precision, hence an insane precision of 2.5nm or about 10 atoms wide. Impressive!

Cura is a slicer, it works with all FDM printers if you set it up correctly

Use wifi to update to arduino or stop using usb for printing. They are both better options anyway
