the hell? short and sweet uploads that are still wildly engaging + have great script writing? all on a channel under 5k? - Not often do you get in on the ground floor for a channel that’s really going places.
edit: i’m begging ya, please do more videos in landscape
Thanks! I am a Tiktok refugee and all those vertical videos you see were made originally for that platform, where I've actually had a following for some time. This year I'm trying to do more in landscape but they take more effort, we'll see how consistent I am about it.
The egg version reminds me of the rarebit I made as a kid. It was in a kids cookbook and said it was Welsh rarebit, which I can say I never questioned. UA-cam’s algorithm reminded me that Barry did the meat session four months ago, and I do remember now that it seemed really delicious. The fact that it is on rye, and broiled makes me really want to try them all. Breakfast is love to eat for sure.
I'd love to see that kids rarebit recipe, I'm a huge fan of all things melty cheese! Do you remember the cookbook? FWIW I first learned about Welsh rarebit from a very silly book called The Curse of the Giant Hogweed by Charlotte MacLeod
@@SandwichTribunal I typed out a huge reply with the recipe, and now it seems to have disappeared. So, I’ll try it again? Anyway, my dad made up a cookbook of selected recipes from our childhood, stuff my dad made, and stuff we had as kids in South Africa. I checked the cookbook and the recipe is in there! I did some googling, and I think it is is from Good Housekeeping, published in Britain, if there wasn’t a South African version, as my dad just indicated it was: Taken from Cooking Is Fun. I remember the book as a small, square paperback with colorful illustrations.
Welsh Rarebit
Ingredients:
4 slices bread 4 oz grated cheese
1 beaten egg 1 tsp powdered mustard Sliced
Sliced tomatoes Dash of Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper
Method:
1. Mix the cheese, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper together in a bowl
2. Butter the slices of bread and put under grill. Toast on one side only
3. Spread the cheese mixture thickly over the untoasted sides of the bread. Put the sliced tomatoes on top.
4. Put the toast back under the grill until the cheese is bubbly and light brown.
Serves Two
It was an easy enough recipe that we could make it for ourselves. I remember that unless the tomatoes were sliced pretty thinly, the cheese would be uncooked underneath them. I hope this version of the comment goes through, as I don’t want to type this on my iPad again.
Reply received, thank you for all that effort!
always a good day seeing the tribunal post a vid - SANDWICHES RULE
I totally vibe with your discussion of Chicago. I grew up out in the sticks and moving to a city with a lot of different populations (DC) in my case has made me so excited and happy - but it also made me really appreciate the access to the things you find even in small towns. In Florida that means Latin markets by the highway selling incredible tortas and tortilla. I miss those - but I don’t think I could give up my access to Kachipuri or Injera either! Loving the videos.
