    • @SimoneNicole
      @SimoneNicole  4 роки тому +5

      I messed myself up the same way girl! I'd say when you are wearing your hair naturally, treat the top like its still transitioning. You'll probably need perm rods to help the curl set. DONT put heat to that area anymore. And wait for it to get long enough to cut the dead ends off and make bangs out of it 🤷🏾‍♀️ Orrr if you don't want to cut it, you could just make the "half up in a bun, half down" your signature look lol

    For one can we not forget about the glow up u had like dang girl. So anyways lol ive had relaxers like crazy when i was younger. And i believe the end of the 8th to 9th grade summer when i came back from my dads i told my ma to just cut it all off. All of my relaxed hair. And my hair was down to my shoulders. Thats the longest it ever got but it started to break off and shed and have split ends so i had my ma cut it off after i let sum new growth come in. So i had a mini miniiii afro but i did a lil side part and twisted it back half way and used the sponge brush things boys use to twist their hair up. So i did that for a while and it was growing but was short. But i aint know how to take care of it. I knew nothing of moisture, trims, needing protective styles or that heat damage can come from blow drying my hair. And my ma is a hairstylist but idk i just wanted to do it on my own since my ma is more of the flat iorning type. So then last summer i went to my dads and once again i had nothing to moisturize my hair and we went in beaches and pools etc. And id wash it then blow dry it without moisture cause i was new to this natural thing. So i found out when i came home from my dads house that i had bad split ends and heat damage so i had to cut it off AGAIN ( also i was using cantu leave in conditioner as a moisturizer 🤦🏾‍♀️) so i cut most of it off and restarted over. My hair is at a decent length. Im trying to get it to my shoulders and make sure its 100% healthy but ive been using natural products and doing twist as protective hair styles or crocheting. But i dont know exactly what works for me as for products. So im still struggling with that to this day. But yah still in my transition oh also idk if my hair is damaged or something. But when my hair is wet i see a curl pattern but it doesnt stay. When its dried it just looks like i got a blow out but i didnt. So do i not really have a curl pattern. And idek what to use to bring my curl pattern out. ( sorry for the long comment)

    • @SimoneNicole
      @SimoneNicole  4 роки тому

      Dang girl, you have definitely been through a journey! I just uploaded a video that might help you on figuring things out. It's called "so you're natural, now what." Also, maybe your hair isn't defining because it isn't used to being worn curly. You're probably going to have to trouble shoot for a bit to figure your hair out

      Ik now it’s been 3 years since you made this comment but have you figured out your hair? I have 4a hair and have had braids since the 2nd grade I’m about to be in highschool and I’ve been trying my best to look for what’s best for my hair so I can wear it natural. I haven’t been taught to do anything to my hair at all! I can’t even do my edges properly. I always have to ask for help. This year I plan on doing my natural hair for the summer time and until I feel like I want to quit. My mother has always told me to never straighten my hair or use anything like a relaxer which is the reason why I have always had braids. I feel like eventually I have to start learning how to do my hair. I took a few hair quizzes and I got some products that’ll be testing out tomorrow so I may update them if I remember. They’re carol’s daughter products. Before that I used maui hair products and cantu. Anyways, my question is how is your hair now? Of course you don’t have to share if you don’t want to. My sister and I have the same hair type and she wears her hair natural all the time and it makes me feel bad because my hair isn’t as pretty and curly as hers. My hair is dry and like you said when you wet it you can see the curl pattern but when you blow it out you didn’t. That’s my same problem. Sorry for the long comment! Just looking for some help. 😊

    I have been transitioning! I kinda had the same backstory always straightening and using chemicals to keep my hair straight and would bleach it out so bad which I thought looked more natural?!? (How I don’t even know) Never embraced my curls really always hated my fro, especially as a light skinned lady I was really self conscious about it. I really started to hate the maintenance and the ends looked awful from all the straightening and chemicals. I cut it all off. I stopped using bleach. I stopped straightening and eventually stopped using heat. I have now stopped coloring it all together. I’ve been tryin to be gentler with my hair now. My front bit of hair is also whacked out lol. I think it’s because I would straighten my bangs the most and have been pretty rough on them.

    gorgeous! and I'm thinking of doing the same thing but I don't want to do the big chop.. my roots are so kinky and thick whereas the rest are relaxed and straight, I went to my local hairdresser a few months ago and she said I'll have to do the big chop but I don't know, what do you think I should do?

    • @SimoneNicole
      @SimoneNicole  4 роки тому

      I believe that you will know when its time. It got to a point for me where I was losing so much hair because it was breaking at the "transition point" on the hair shaft. That was when it was enough for me. If you want to lessen the strain, protective styles might be the way for you will you're going through your process.

      @I. Gonna post this for whoever is considering going natural but afraid to big chop. My hair has always been past shoulder length. When I went natural, I continued to do roller sets to blend the new growth and the permed hair together. About every two months I would trim my split ends. I am 4 years a natural. My hair is strong and growing so much. I have made mistakes along the way. I stay on you tube and have learned so much on how to handle my natural hair here. Bottom line, you do not have to chop all your hair off to go natural.

    I have no idea if my hair is growing. I havent put any chemical or heat in my hair since December 2019. I am currently in the process of switching out all of my products and taking biotin. I have a full head of short Nigerian 4c hair. I really hope I get anywhere close to the length you were at at any point of this video LOL.

    I got to 8 mins and was like "wow what a wonderful journey, let's watch another!" and then she said "this began my downfall. That's when I realized there was another 6 mins left.
