    This CX5 or the new 2015 rogue (xtrail)? i really love driving, and i also have a wife 2 little kids..and trip a lot with my mother also.
    And which one is more reliable? :)
    Thank you for answering..

      eemetyawu creek sorry for the delay. they are both good choices. if you like new - go with the Rogue.

    • @javoon16
      @javoon16 10 років тому +2

      They're both great cars. I'm 6'5" and my CX-5 is perfect. It's simple and feels luxurious. The Rogue is bigger but to me inside it feels like a little too much is going on but still a very nice car.

  • @pedrof830

    Zoom zoom indeed, speedy Tony! I have an issue when they make you spend more to get the better engine on any particular car, it is a deal breaker for me. 5 passengers, luggage, AWD and a hilly terrain is a no-no for that smaller, weaker engine. You end up spending more on gas than with one that does not strain to keep up.

  • @beygalaxy21
    @beygalaxy21 10 років тому +1

    The SKYACTIV will stop the engine from running, as what the sales people here in PH told me, when your forcefully stop in a traffic. My question is that what if there is flooding during that traffic? Can the engine run again without any problem?

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested  10 років тому

      beygalaxy21 that's a good question. why are you thinking about flooding while driving though?

    You said the speaker system is tinty. Did your model have the 11-speaker Bose system or was it the standard? I like my music loud and crisp. Another quick question, do you feel like it has enough horsepower? I'm nervous that the little 2.5L isn't going to be enough for an SUV (if you want to consider it one) with AWD?

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested  10 років тому

      kickerpunter I'm pretty sure it was the base stereo and not the BOSE. It was fine in terms of power - not a burner, but a pleasant, fun ride!

    Yo Tony, would you choose this or a Jeep Cherokee? I've watched both reviews and have test driven only the CX5. I like both pretty equally, and cannot find many faults with them. I need an honest opinion from the average guy.

    This guy is great. I enjoyed his review. My wife and I tested the Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring last night and have decided to purchase one. I've been shopping for over 2 months and have researched everything and test drove a few. The Mazda was fun to drive and hugged the road. We like the sand interior but it was very difficult to find one in the color we wanted.

    Zoom Zoom. The blind spot alert was nice. You can always swap out the audio systems. The rear camera? Nice. Im 6'1 though, I need the driver seat to go back just a few notches. Might be a problem, but I like it. Worth test driving. Where's mad Tony?

  • @Flamingace12

    I heard that the Rogue's CVT is horrid. I think I'm between the Rouge, the Honda CR-V, and the Mazda CX-5. I need reliability but the Honda is kind of ugly. Advice? Also is there a button on the shift knob for the mazda cx5?

    • @javoon16
      @javoon16 10 років тому +1

      The rogue is a beautiful car but j felt like there was too much going on in the car. The CR-V is just ugly to me. I have a CX-5 and it's great. No problems so far and it's not my first Mazda (still have the old one, still drive it). It's all about what you want. The rogue is a bit bigger than the CX-5 but I'm 6'5" and fit in my CX-5 just fine. If you want a more SUV feel on the inside with a CUV size, go for the Rogue

      Thank you! I'm between the Madza CX-5, the subaru forester and the jeep cherokee right now. Car shopping is exhausting, especially when you are a girl and have no idea what's what!.

    • @javoon16
      @javoon16 10 років тому +2

      Renee Montoya I'm not sure why I was so attached to the CX-5 when I was shopping, but I'm glad I was. The vehicle is almost the weight of the Mazda6, so it's very light and fun to drive and it feels like a car with the luxurious look and feel of a CUV. Just my opinion, the CX-5 is the best CUV for anyone ;) And to your original question, there is a manual transmission available in the sport and there is a sport gear where you can shift your car like it's a manual even though it's an automatic

    • @Flamingace12

      Oh okay, I just asking because i want to change out the shifter knob to something cooler!

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested  10 років тому

      Renee Montoya is there a button? you got me there. I'll have to look back at the footage. Ok - the CRV is rock solid. I hear you on styling. I have yet to drive the Rogue so I can't comment on that, but the interior is sweeeet! I saw it at the NY Auto Show. The CX-5 is very, very nice. Very! You can't go wrong with either and if you lease - go get the best deal.

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested  10 років тому

      Dotty L. you cant go wrong with either choice. Use that to your advantage when negotiating with the dealers. I lean Escape for overall tech - but the Mazda has better driving dynamics. Ford wins on engine type options. does this help?

      Hi, thanks for answering. I drive 50 km a day mazda basic model has 2.0 engine and the one I like Gs is 2.5. Ford has 1.6 to 2.0 engine. You think would be a good idea going for 2.5 Madza? Thanks. :)

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested  10 років тому

      yes - the 2.5 is a must on the Mazda.

      Dont buy Ford..smh..because it will be in the junk yard with in a few yrs. Even the New Fusions&Escape had multiple problems. Why do U think Mazda got rid of that piece of junk Ford brand..lol? They use to be working together & during those yrs Mazda had problems cause of it & the company suffered from Rust&multiple of problems.
      Ford has many Tech/electrical problems. My Ford Touch is so outdated. Fords build quality is garbage&I've heard many stories of the Fusions breaking down within less than 10,000 Kilometers on it.
      All 2014 models for Mazda have won multiple awards&consumer reports listed it last yr as number 5 most reliable brands.
      This yr it jumped up 2 spots to Number 3:)
      Number 1&2 is Toyota&Lexus. Which basically is the same company which isnt suprising cause I owned a Camry before.
      But all brands in recent yrs have had recalls except for Mazda. Even Toyota & Honda have had recalls

    This is NOT the 2015 model. it is the 2013 - 2014 model. The 2015 model is released on Feb 1st 2015 and is very different to the 2015 model especially the technology and lighting etc. Very Misleading video title.

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested  9 років тому

      it is indeed a early 15 model. I believe that amenities/features were added after these initial units. I've done over 270 reviews why would i lie about it?

    • @deanrichards9541
      @deanrichards9541 9 років тому +1

      theMediaMart I didn't say you were lying, maybe you just have your information wrong, so just asking that you correct your video title it as it will be confusing to others watching your reviews.

    • @justinyau3560
      @justinyau3560 9 років тому

      Disagree with the both of U..lol. Reason is U cant compare these 2? They are in different class cars. Cx5 is smaller. Its a crossover. Santa Fe is much bigger especially with the Sport. Its way more powerful. Its an SUV.
      CX5 should be compared with the Hyundai Tusan.

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested  9 років тому

      the Santa FE Sport is the smaller version of that model. edmunds.com lists them in the same class - so I'm going with them on this one.
      here's what edmunds.com has to say "Shoppers have no shortage of appealing choices in this class. The 2015 Ford Escape and 2015 Mazda CX-5 stand out for their responsive handling, upscale interiors and advanced technology options. Then there's the top-selling 2015 Honda CR-V, which boasts numerous improvements this year, and the well-rounded 2015 Toyota RAV4. Notably, all of these models give you better fuel economy. But the Santa Fe Sport has enough going for it otherwise to make it a very respectable pick."

    Trying to decide between this and the 3 hatch, manual trans.

    • @thebunnis
      @thebunnis 10 років тому

      Getting the manual trans with either is an excellent choice. They are very similar cars. Engine in both with manual trans will be the exact same 155 HP 2.0L engine, same transmission, same steering, same suspension setup, same brakes, etc. The mazda3 will feel a bit faster only due to the fact that it weighs 442 lbs less, but keep in mind that the CX-5 is remarkably light for an SUV. How light? It only weighs 40 lbs less than a Mazda6 sedan.
      To me getting the CX-5 is a no-brainer since there are so few drawbacks, but here are the differences. CX-5 is more comfortable, more spacious interior, probably safer, and more room for friends to stretch out and more room for cargo. The CX-5 is also a smoother ride in my opinion. You also get a higher driving position for viewing the road. Everything feels a bit beefier but in a good way, like absorbing bumps in the road, and still very agile. Cargo storage is excellent. And for all this very little handling performance is sacrificed. How so? It handles better than most sedans. In some cases a lot better. I own a 2014 CX-5 with manual trans and I love it to death. It has one of the best manual transmissions around, but CX-5 with manual trans are rare on dealer lots. I have never reset the MPG average on the dash and I'm at 20,000 miles and over the course of those 20,000 miles I have averaged 31 MPG, which is better than my 2004 mazda3 got, but of course that's ancient history. The only downside I can think of is that this car would be more fun with a 2.5L engine and a manual trans. Currently they only offer the 2.5 with an automatic trans. You are not going to win any drag races with this. But hmmm let's see... Handling best in class, cargo best in class, fuel economy best in class, style best in class, reliability best in class. Ok maybe not best but among the best. My old 2004 Mazda3 is pushing 200K currently and still going strong. New Mazdas are probably going to be even better.
      Advantages of getting the 3 are it will be faster due to lower weight, it will handle sportier due to lower center of gravity, even better fuel ecconomy, and it will be cheaper to buy and cheaper to maintain due to everything being smaller. Cargo storage is surprisingly adequate given it's smaller size. I've seen an entire drum kit fit in one of these. I've also seen someone move all their belongings in one trip in one of these. He got creative. Also the gas mileage is supposedly phenomenal, getting up to 40 MPG highway in some cases. I owned a 2004 mazda3 and loved it, but now that I own a CX-5, the 3 feels claustrophobic to me. Then again I am 6' tall. I will admit that the main reason I wanted to CX-5 was because I simply wanted a more spacious interior to exist in.

    having trouble deciding between this and the Nissan Rogue. I have test drove this and feel it is too tight for me in the drivers seat and definitely if I were to be in the back seat with someone 6'1 (myself) or taller. I didn't have this problem in the Rogue and liked the seemingly more upscale interior, larger cargo space and little better MPG in the Rogue but have read a few reviews saying the Rogue has engine problems. Please advise?

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested  10 років тому

      Bishop Kalliko I haven't read about the engine problems on the Rogue. Conventional wisdom says to avoid new models, but in this age of leasing you can't really go wrong. If you are buying - you may want to dig into the engine problems. I'll check to see what I can find out

      Dude did U buy the Rogue? Honestly alot of Recalls with Nissan. But even Toyota&Honda have had a few.
      For reliability, gas mileage, price & driving experience. Go for Subaru or Mazda. Both brands have won multiple awards:)
      Checkout the new 2015 Subaru outback/Legacy:) Its newer & better looking & has more room&more fun to drive than the Subaru Forester. Forester in my opinion looks butt ugly with the exterior. But lots of headroom inside. Forester is award winning. If U want a sportier/more powerful&bigger award winning SUV. Try the Hyundai Santa Fe. Havent seen the new 2015. I think its the same as the 2014? Looks amazing both inside&out:)
