I just imagine Superman flying around Earth seeing none of the Lanterns and thinking
"Hm, Wonder what the Lanterns are up to? Maybe they're doing something up in space. Nah, they're probably fine. Oh look there's Lois!"
Will, Hope, Compassion, Love, Fear, Avarice, Rage, Death, Life.....Long ago the galaxy lived in harmony but everything changed when the ''Guardians'' attacked! Only the White Lantern, master of all of the emotional spectrum's could stop them. But when the Galaxy needed him the most, he vanished. A millennia has passed and me and a few others discovered the new hope. A Human named Kyle and though his Will power is great. He has a lot to learn before he can save anyone. But I believe Kyle can save the Universe.

Do not try to understand it. It is comic book logic
Maybe the third army count as dead, with all the ejecting hearts and involving Blackhand.
It's like a cleric's healing magic being used against an undead. Undead react to healing magic like it's poison or acid.
***** not really, i mean Larfleeze's own Orange Light could create sentient constructs. Combine the Orange sentience, the Red blood, and the Purple Crystalized bodies, and you have a perfect soldier ready to fight

This whole arc could be called "The Guardians fuck up and nearly get the universe destroyed. And are rightfully slaughter because of it."

The lantern corp mythos is the greatest lore in DC in my opinion...I see why wb saw gl as almost star wars like...imagine this as a trilogy of movies...EPIC

Every Lantern has some type of drive like Green Lanterns are Will and Yellow Lanterns are Fear, White Lanterns control all of that and they are the Lanterns of Life.

If one can grant life, one can take life away.
In theory.
The Guardians are pretty damn flawed in their logic. They create the Third Army and have them assimilate everyone and take that as helping the universe, but that is essentially what Larfleeze does with the Orange Lantern, absorbing all with his power and forcing them to his cause so they are basically the same as one of their biggest enemies. Then we have the fact that they are emotionless, like the Black Lanterns that are also a really big enemy of their and they seek to eliminate all the free will and emotions, just like Black Hand and Necron, so again they are just like their foes. They are also currently the biggest threat to the universe now with the Third Army and their actions may have caused unknown catastrophe with the First Lantern breaking free, and they are acting on impulse without thinking on the complications and consequences of their actions. They are the same, if not worse than the Green Lanterns that they are assuming to be flawed. They have no right to call themselves guardians as they are a very great threat to it. They have only evolved in power, they are still pretty damn stupid.
Well they are emotionless. They're only goal is to apply other no matter the cost. Here's how i see it. Imagine that you have a car. it's useful and u use it to take you to places. But that car has a few things wrong with it. breaks are not to good. a window or two is busted and it also have a pretty serious engine problem that will result in the car completely stopping in the long run. Engine needs to be completely redone. Now a days it cost much more to completely redo the engine then to get a new car. a rational decision would be to just get rid of the old car and get a new one. It's just a car who give a shit. being sentimental with it is useless. I think the guardian see life the same. (The car would be the green lantern corp in my example). From a strictly logical point killing a billion to save 100 billion seems to be a good deal. i'm sure the guardian wouldn't mind wiping out most life form if they could rebuild a more civilize universe that would prosper for generation. So they aren't ungrateful just getting rid of their tool that doesn't work like they want it to. For them acting like their enemies. The guardians sole goal is to establish THEIR version of order that THEY control. They aren't good guys they are forcing every one to under their control. Just like the US government does. They feel that they can break their rule to maintain their control. bother line they want to be in control and think they are above everything.
***** Nah man. Governments are group of people put in charge to facilitate life in human communities.(make laws so that we don't kill and mistreat each other and punish those who break the rule we all agreed upon) Their function isn't to assert dominance it never why governments were formed.
The people give them their power. If the government decides something in the entire population doesn't agree and say no. it's not exactly possible for any government to impose their will.
Now since entire populations agreeing is very rare( you know people tend to not like people). We give them power we can take it. it's true they have to be strong to assume their function but their role is not to dominate.The more divided the population the more power they can have. Ignorance and people don't always agree.
Look up how the idea of governments were formed and what is their function when their were no real countries yet just city-states.
Small group can only control big groups if the big group lets them.
***** it's not a romantic notion man it was the reason why government exists. The US government is a single example man. There is an a single perfect government. Democratie was never actually achieved anywhere. Well by it's actual definition. Like I said look up and read for yourself what is the role and purpose of a government and how the idea started. I'm not specially against the way things are working or care much about it. I'm just telling you their function isn't to dominate the population.
And that quote you took from my last comment was referring to what the government's reaction to Edward Snowden actions. Comparing how the Guardian's act. The don't follow a moral compass they do things THEY think is right and people against their definition of order is considered a treat and attacked. (they are not bad guys nor good guys)
You really have to work on your nuances man... yeah government dominate they are a group of people that was given authority and control. But it's not their function(you should really pay attention to that word) to dominate but to stabilise and manage the daily life of the big group make living together easier. It's not my definition of government it's THE definition of government man.
They are arrogant bastards, they think they know everything because they are the oldest. They got rid of emotions, thereby getting rid of the conscience and the limits of what is permitted, but retaining one of the worst human traits - pride.
And now these bastards almost exterminated the intelligent life in the universe and to take into account the unhappy ones was worse than death.
In the last issue it was mentioned that until the end of the extermination there were 27 days left .....
After this story, it became quite lonely in their universe ...
Always someone should guard watchmen
If I were the guardians, I would have used a different strategy. I would say that I am decommissioning the Green Lantern corps. Every Lantern may protest but since me and my peers made the ring, they have the right to at least reclaim it. Do a farewell ceremony where everyone would gather then activate the inoculation grid trapping all of them without a single ring.

Oh gold I love this story sooooo much!! The trade for this story is also massive and has quite a few things you kinda briefly mentioned and goes into more detail with them. I highly reccommend getting the trade for this story arc, you wont regret it!
This series is doing Green Lantern so much justice. This plus the "Brightest Day/Blackest Night" has been such great stories from the Lantern side. Finally something that isn't Batman thats good.

Bruce Banner has the hulk but the hulk isn't really rage. Because Hulk is actually able to demonstrate more than just hate and anger

One missing tidbit... the electronic version includes Atrocitus' story arc in detail. It's Atrocitus that discovers that the 3rd army's weakness is the eyeballs.... not super relevant, but I just thought that was a score for the red guy.

Love the dramatic reading but there are a few errors like Sinestro while hosting Parallax killed the Guardians as evident by the yellow blood on his hand Atrocitus ended up with Kona's body which he was talking to and went slightly crazy about. And you left out the future of all the lanterns which was one of the best parts also slightly hinting at Sinestro eventually redeems himself and becomes the keeper of the book of Oa... Sorry I went on too long...
