this is the exact car ive been looking for brutish yet gentle and very fast but smooth as silk. This 340i is calling my name forget the q60, kia stinger, 5.0 this right here refined savageness all in one package. la belle et la bête
i had this 340xi rent for a weekend and this car is just perfect!!. if u go Fast its 100% enough the noise and the fun wow .. but also a perfect daily for a chill ride... i also drove a S4 3.0 tfsi 2016 from my friend and it is also a great car buuut ... BMW has a perfect steering. zero understeering at the highway the Car makes exactly this what u want even at 220km/h in the curve perfect balance. The car is insulated to a high standard if u drive on a highway with like 140 km/h there is no noise from outside like the wind and tires in the A4 i had a feeling like it isnt at the same level .. the noises were much louder ..i like both cars but for me its clear the BMW (and i drive a 2014 audi A5) as daily so even as a long audi fan i would definetly change to this BMW if i had enought pocket money :D
I wasn't talking about that actual specific bit of road, but one near it which we didn't have any drone footage of :) the mountain road hardly anyone uses is where we shot most of the video, though. AN
DriveMag i thought that would be the case. I am not being a dick it was just a coincidence that voice over synced with footage of a truck : ) loved the video by the way
What a beautiful beast of a car and the Estoril blue colour is just incredible! Is the car in the video fitted with the standard exhaust that came with the car or has it been fitted with an M Performance Exhaust? I've just test driven a 340i M Sport & the engine didn't have a roar to it like in your video which was a bit disappointing. Am not sure why. Did you drive the car in Sport mode? Has the car in your video been modified to make it sound better when one accelerates?
Yes, the car was in Sport+ mode for most of the shoot and no it has not been modified in any way, nor did it have any mentioned M Performance exhaust fitted.
The brakes just have a lot of travel from the factory. It takes some getting used to, but knowing that, the stopping power is definitely there in spades when you get into the pedal and has saved my life or at least from a very bad accident twice already due to idiot Florida drivers. Great car, and nice quick take video.
Reliability is measured after several years...not after only 1 year. BMW has been negligent in this respect, just look at the N54 engine, followed too shortly by the N55, then the N-series was dumped for the B58. They didn't try to refine a design and make it last, their only concern is how much PS it puts out, how smooth it feels and how efficient it is. Which is fine for a 3 year lease, but awful for people who buy it after warranty is up, or buy it and drive for 6 - 8 years or longer. This is why I said I would only lease a BMW, and never buy one.
elusivellama I have had an f10 528i the car for 5 years is over 100k and I haven’t had a single problem with an n20 engine. You can’t attest to a car you don’t own; especially engines. 9 times out of 10 any car will fail due to an aggressive driver. I have owned an n54 and didn’t have a problem with that car either
@@Sequel7 My family has a 2012 328i, timing chain tensioners are starting to go. This was a known issue on the inline 4 used in the 328i and would cost upwards of $3k or so to fix because they would have to pull the engine. Told them to get a Lexus but they didn't listen.
This guy is talking crap ! I drove the c43 amg and the 340 is as comfortable and faster .. next time let some mature person do the review Instead of some kid who doesn’t know what he’s talking about
Very informative review. After having a 20d for two cars in a row, I am ready for a 6 cylinder petrol bmw.
Really good review from a talented motoring journalist, thanks for posting and getting that six cylinder revving!

thumbs up for the retro game intro!
Magnificent car.
I’m looking at 2016 Bmw 340i x drive. Is it exactly the same as the 2017? Thanks

Charming review. I learned a lot and had fun doing it. Subscribed!
DriveMag is dead, no more new reviews will be posted on this channel. But you can follow me on my own channel if you want to check out my own reviews.
This video encouraged me to buy this car used in 2021.
Excellent review
2:45 mountain road hardly anyone uses ever - lorry comes from around the corner :D

Thanks! No worries, didn't think you were a dick :) and yes, the syncing was a tad unfortunate

Nikki Mills o
great video!
Does this model come in a Manual stickshift?
Love that shoots over front bumper so you can see only how it's eats road. One day will get you BMW, one day!
"Ah I'm gonna die!" If you keep driving like that you might actually

what about relaibility and maitenence?
Hahahaha...nobody buys BMW to care about reliability. They lease 3 years, then throw away. This is the reason why I would never buy one...only lease.
elusivellama it’s too bad to go against your theory, the 2017 3 series has been a reliable vehicle

where the hell is that road where u can drive 90 kph on turns hairpin turns... i want to drive that road.....
Well, the sat-nav said the limit was 90 km/h and I saw no other roadsigns to suggest otherwise :) The road is in the Romanian mountains.
AN
Just needs 3 pedals and the x drive delete
Where are you driving?
Romania
they took “this engine sounds like a tuners supra” a little too far..
