I am dying to re-own all of the artbooks. But make it a whole book. Hard bound. Never owned the Artbook ideas. And I want that one too. We don’t need the reprints of the Manga.
I’m going with the eternal edition. I will support any manga printed on glossy paper. We need more editions that have better contrast for the black and white. Plus I love seeing how big the drawings are. It makes me feel like I’m holding an original manuscript or something.
I'm definitely going to buy the NTC version! Because I consider myself a sailor moon manga purist I collect all the manga that comes out in the states, and I'm glad that they're making the minor changes from the perfect editions for the NTC version. The 2011 translation was just so unnatural to me, so I'm majorly looking forward to collecting all of them!
I am tempted to buy these new sailor moon manga because of the translation but I saw it in stores and The aesthetics of the cover and spine do not bring me any joy. Since I already have the large eternal editions I may just go with the older small manga before they go out of stock. Great video as always. Thank you!
I'm surprised😯 that they're releasing another new sailor moon manga but it's smaller than the bigger eternal edition.💁♀️🌙📘 I can see that it's similar to the 2014 ones, although it only has one color page.🤨 For me, I like the 2018 SM eternal mangas more because it has some colored pages and shiny too.🥰💖🌙 I got the whole set from Barnes & Nobles.📗 Hopefully they'll make an all color version of them one day.🤞🎨 I also like that picture of a deer in a wolf's head.😀🦌🐺 Thanks for sharing with us and see you later.😉✌🌙
I'm collecting all three editions. The 2011 reminds me of the Tokyopop version I had as a teenager in the early 2000s. I have most of the 2011 collection right now. I'm just missing issues 3,4, and 5 which I will be getting shortly. So far my preference is the Eternal version based on the size and color pages.
I like the idea of the NTC because it's smaller and cheaper but those iridescent covers of the EE have me in a chokehold... expensive but pretty... I think I will try and collect the EE even though I only have vol.1 currently I just can't not complete the collection
UPDATE: I saw the NTC in a Waterstones today and I just had to buy it! Looks like I'll be collecting both versions, focusing on the NTC since its cheaper and then once I have all/most of them I'll turn my attention back to the EE collection
I originally passed on the EE because I wasn’t sure if I wanted the larger books and the higher price, so I ran to B&N last night and picked up Vol 1 of the NTC 😁 I’m so excited! I have all of the 2011 editions and the English TokyoPop/Mixx editions, so I’m excited for the more accurate translation with this edition! Honestly still torn if I eventually want to pick up EE too for the beautiful covers and all the color pages 😅
I initally had my NTC order on amazon, but after watching this video I have cancelled it. Picked up every EE book, I am giddy with excitement as i've never read the manga!
It’s a shame I can’t really use right stuff since im not in America they are so much more expensive because of postage to Australia for some reason buying from them off of ebay it’s a little cheaper, so booktopia is definitely more affordable for me even though they don’t take as much care in their shipping but it’s doubly expensive for more to buy from right stuff but for one jojo volume buying from them on ebay is probably my best bet
So funny! I was researching which version of the manga to get and read the site and followed the link to the video and it’s you!! Haha I have the eternal version of sailor v and I read about half of it and gave up as I read manga in bed and it’s way too heavy and I found it a little too childish for me. But as you know from Instagram, I am watching the viz 90’s version of moon and loving it’s so I want to read the manga and excited to see that there’s a hand held version for easy reading
As someone who owned the original Mixx version - and who now works in manga publishing - the EE's size and glossy paper disappointed me. I'll miss the color inserts for sure and the nice pink end pages of the EE but thanks to your informative review, I'll continue my collection with the NTC!
I like sailor moon as a kid back then and I got a sailor moon manga for Christmas and i’m getting a sailor moon manga for my 19th birthday on August i’m a fan of sailor moon
I've found with my original Mixx Edition manga from my childhood, the pages started to fall out after a few years. To be fair, I read them to death but kept them from getting dog-earred. My biggest concern is that other pocket-sized editions might meet the same fate, being of a similar size and quality. But the big Eternal Editions feel like they are made with supior materials and are designed to last a lot longer. I'm not the type to take my manga travelling these days anyway, so I think I will continue with collecting them.
I’m collecting the naoko Takeuchi editions. I prefer the size and the cover art. This is actually my first time collecting them and actually enjoying it since I had the 2011 edition back when I was in middle school but I couldn’t get into them since the English literally gave me head aches. But the naoko Takeuchi edition made me really appreciate sailor moon. After I finished volume 2, I couldn’t help but think “damn, sailor moon really is a super hero.”
@@ochibawolf sorry for replying 6 months late 😅 but I remember back i was 7th grade who have trouble read and write and needs special help. I was reading Sailor Moon 2011 ver as my diary read every day, I have some trouble reading the works that English translation doesn't good well and little rough well to read the series. I asked for help with my parents or my reading teacher and they said that English translation doesn't make sense. But I know the story, been learning lot from Sailor moon characters and I love their art 😍 but sadly they won't selling them anymore because of new one. I love this old cute front cover and back too. I got new translation for my 11 year old niece and I love new translation to make lots sense now!

Thus was a great review! I didnt realize the NTC will have 10 issues vs the 12 from the 2011 version, not a problem just assumed would be the same. It is kind of sad the NTC has less color pages than the 2011, you would think it would have more for what comes off as a special edition overall. I passed on the 2011 and didnt love the size or price of the EE (at least not for a full collection) but do plan to get the full NTC collection now. Maybe at least the 1st EE for the color pages 😁

I love sailor moon sm, I’ve watched it sense I was honestly out of the womb, watching them on the vhs tapes ( still in amazing condition surprisingly) and when I got older I got the change to expand my watching of sailor moon w tv stuff. I’m such a fan, if I didn’t get raised watching sailor moon I really wouldn’t be me today I tell you that! I sorta feels like the anime is for me in a way but ik the fame has raised w the manga and shows. It’s amazing but 😖 maybe I’m a little gatekeeper idk it just feels weird to see it grown to be so popular when it sets in a extremely important spot in my soul and everyday life. But I’m only 17 lmfao so all I know the older I get the more obsessed I will be😂, I’ve rewatched it countless times. Man idk I’m feelin a wayyyy, what I’m saying it’s really cool to see a lady like you as passionate of sailor moon like me, though it spooks me

I first borrowed the 2011 from my local library a few years back and there were some very prominent grammatical errors that drove me crazy which is why I never collected them. I was on the fence with the Eternal editions just because of how big they were and the price point. I’m really excited for the NTC collection and I’ve preordered the first one! I’m really hoping they fixed those spelling errors. I am bummed about the less colored pages than the 2011, but overall with the price and size I’m really happy! Mine is set to come on Friday so here’s to hoping I Love this version enough to want to collect the rest. I’m assuming they’re also going to do Sailor V too?
My wish for next Sailor Moon manga for 35 or 40 anniversary is a full color, same book cover as Eternal Edition but little small and still shiny glitter! Ya A manga with full book no black and white!

Thanks for the review, it's great that new stuff is coming out. But tbh I think this one is pretty unnecessary and a downgrade in every way (except the translation) compared to the 2011 manga. Why is the version with the least features called Naoko Takeuchi collection? I don't really think it deserves that name tbh. The Eternal Edition is definitely the best one. Sure, it's expensive, but for a cheaper version I would always prefer the 2011 version. Still, it's exiting that new stuff comes out, and hopefully it will bring new attention to the franchise.^^

I saw that they have a German and French hardcover for the eternal edition. Do you know if they will make one in English? I know a little bit of French, but I wish they had an English for the price I would pay lol.
If you watched this entire video, towards the end, I explain our USA releases are following Japan's. So if Japan gets a hardcover we most likely will, if they continue to follow the trend.

Oh god. I am so torn. Can't afford the eternal edition. But the Naoko one is cheaper and such. But I would miss the color pages..... I don't know what I should do. I heard EE is hard to read? And you said its a bit heavy. Is it awkward to read? Like if you're sitting on couch or something and so forth?

I hope to get the ntc editions, the eternal editions are way too big for my taste, and I have three of the 2011's but I'd like to switch to the ntc's for the better translations
First a shout out to the original Tokyo Pop English manga, still hoping to get those one day for a reasonable price 😢 and secondly... Oh wow, they actually fixed some stuff from the translation in the eternal editions. More reason to get them as collector, regardless how small the change is lol 😮😂 Well I wanted the Barnes and nobles exclusive version but after seeing people's posts about it, I'm not missing out much lol the poster is super tiny and not worth taking it out of the book. That color page is in the Japanese bunko edition too, so I'm glad they brought that over since that color page wasn't on the perfect/eternal edition, so it's safe to say that the volume 2 color page will be there too. One surprising thing about this new version, is the size, like you said almost the same as the 2011 edition. I thought its would be the same size as the bunko edition from Japan. I have volume 1 & 2 and they tiny lol. Fantastic video, I'm such a nerd for those kind of videos lol by the way... Loved the low key shade to a certain website 😜
If you do start collecting the tokyopop editions be very careful in your selection. Tokyopop used very cheap glue to bind their books and pages came loose all the time. As a child I often had to ask my mother, who was a working librarian, to take my books into work and have the pages reset and glued.

Already have the first 9 vols of the 2011 releases. is it worth getting these new editions or should i just get the last 3 vols of the editions i already have?
I talked to some of the people who worked on the localization of this release, and it sounds like Moon Wand > Moon Stick wasn't the only termonology that was changed. I imagine we'll have things like the "Malefic Black Crystal" again too. Also wasn't the All Color Edition just supposed to be the first arc?

The way the translations keep getting more and more literal (eg. changing “wand” to “stick”) REALLY takes me out of it. Manga shouldn’t just be translated, it should be interpreted.

Sure, it's expensive, but for a cheaper version I would always prefer the 2011 version. Still, it's exiting that new stuff comes out, and hopefully it will bring new attention to the franchise.^^

I'm currently collecting the NTC version and accidentally got the eternal version cuz I thought they were the same release in a different size XDDD no wonder the spines didn't match up

I saw that they have a German and French hardcover for the eternal edition. Do you know if they will make one in English? I know a little bit of French, but I wish they had an English for the price I would pay lol.
If you watched this entire video, towards the end, I explain our USA releases are following Japan's. So if Japan gets a hardcover we most likely will, if they continue to follow the trend.

I’m planning to get the ntc version but i have questions. Why will there be 10 and not 12? Will they be making vol 9 & 10 jumbo sizes to complete the story? Will there be code V release too? What about the short stories? Thank you in advance
I hope to get the ntc editions, the eternal editions are way too big for my taste, and I have three of the 2011's but I'd like to switch to the ntc's for the better translations
First a shout out to the original Tokyo Pop English manga, still hoping to get those one day for a reasonable price 😢 and secondly... Oh wow, they actually fixed some stuff from the translation in the eternal editions. More reason to get them as collector, regardless how small the change is lol 😮😂 Well I wanted the Barnes and nobles exclusive version but after seeing people's posts about it, I'm not missing out much lol the poster is super tiny and not worth taking it out of the book. That color page is in the Japanese bunko edition too, so I'm glad they brought that over since that color page wasn't on the perfect/eternal edition, so it's safe to say that the volume 2 color page will be there too. One surprising thing about this new version, is the size, like you said almost the same as the 2011 edition. I thought its would be the same size as the bunko edition from Japan. I have volume 1 & 2 and they tiny lol. Fantastic video, I'm such a nerd for those kind of videos lol by the way... Loved the low key shade to a certain website 😜
If you do start collecting the tokyopop editions be very careful in your selection. Tokyopop used very cheap glue to bind their books and pages came loose all the time. As a child I often had to ask my mother, who was a working librarian, to take my books into work and have the pages reset and glued.

Definitely the 2022. The 2011's translation is pretty bad in some spots.

I prefer Moon Wand so I'll stick with the Eternal Editions. I also wish the artwork of the cover of the new edition was centred better.
There are actually 4 releases in America anyway. The original release was a cut version which called Usagi, Bunny.

Hi! Not sure what regular manga means but I gave the size in the video
The NTC edition is 7.07 x 0.68 x 9.99 inches. The 2011 edition is 5 x 0.64 x 7.5 inches. The Eternal edition is the biggest at 7.11 x 0.7 x 10 inches.
Already have the first 9 vols of the 2011 releases. is it worth getting these new editions or should i just get the last 3 vols of the editions i already have?

I talked to some of the people who worked on the localization of this release, and it sounds like Moon Wand > Moon Stick wasn't the only termonology that was changed. I imagine we'll have things like the "Malefic Black Crystal" again too.
Also wasn't the All Color Edition just supposed to be the first arc?
Also, will Sailor V and the Short Stories get a release in this edition?

The short stories are inside the eternal editions like they were when they were first published in Japan. They are no longer separate volumes

Number of volumes released for the NTC
The way the translations keep getting more and more literal (eg. changing “wand” to “stick”) REALLY takes me out of it. Manga shouldn’t just be translated, it should be interpreted.
Moon stick is the actual name of the item though. It's all over the proplica, collectibles, etc.
Is there a full color version officially released. I see alot of colored scans online but never found where to buy it.

Not yet. If Japan makes a physical copy, USA may follow. It might take years. :(
