As a fan of The Edge and U2 I appreciate videos like this. Dallas running through his equipment with the most joy and showing the nitty gritty that as a guitarist you would love to see. Thank you for posting this video, God bless!
The edge is one of my guitar heroes (Achtung baby's guitar sounds are still EPIC). I personally found very touching the deep way Dallas admire the edge. Not all is shredding. The edge has influenced thousands of guitar players.
I remember watching U2 in Birmingham around 2001 and before the show Dallas was sound checking by playing Edge’s riffs. Was so cool to see and hear, like a warmup for the real thing!
Dallas is the man… who helps Edge to be the Greatest individual ever to pick up the guitar.. music is not a competition but channeling pure emotion’ he’s original’ memorable and the one guitarist everybody in the music industry loves
Can't think of another guitarist that he'd go do this with... but he's on tour as Nils Lofgren's tech for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band as of a week ago..
I got one on that tour. Dallas was soundchecking up the catwalk, I screamed out 'Dallas! You're the hardest working guy here!' He smiled and flicked me a pick.
I’m surprised to hear that him and edge have no way of communicating due to the headset…. I mean all they have to do is run an XLR from the wireless out to a radial hotshot pedal on stage and run 2 different xlrs back to the monitor desk, push down on the pedal and now his headset gets routed only to Dallas’ IEMs. Standard stuff.
No amps at least just for Sphere. Stage volume (minus drums) has to be super quiet - if that non existent - in that venue. Those UAFX pedals are awesome though.
People are using in ear monitors so the idea of an amp with a mic in a 20k venue is old. These emulators will get you as near as without the problems of amps, transport etc.
@@markrushton1516 its the reason why guys like Billy Joel and Elton dont use real grand pianos anymore. They are digital pianos in a shell that looks like a grand. Easier to dial in a sound than to mic a grand piano.
@@markrushton1516 It's not a big issue to transport two Vox AC-30 and to mic 'em, actually, you can do the job with two AC-15 and put an e906 in front of each... Miking with the SM-57 was more complicated, not with the e906, all you need is to hang these in front of the speakers... And if you have no real sound, you can't play with the feedback which is necessary if you want true blue insane guitar sounds like all old bluesmen, as well as Hendrix, etc... I have ZERO issues at having a ready to mix sound straight out of my speakers and I don't need more than 2U of rack space for this with the Mesa Triaxis preamp and the Marshall EL84-20/20 (note : both were modified, they're not stock). My two 1x12" have Electrovoice EVM12L speakers so despite being only 2x20W around, the volume is enough to feedback as I don't use wax-potted pickups. Soundless stages? No thanks, it's just like recording in the studio with the amp in another room, I can't get my sound, period! And I'm not willing to play super loud, make no mistake.
I remember the extensive amp farm Edge and Dallas cultivated under the stage the last rig review I saw. Astonishing he's gone to amp modeling! I wonder what the brand and specs are of these amp pedals? Anyone know?
@@StrikeEagle14 You're right! I found them. Who knew such a purist as Edge would go modeling. I think he was caught between the Sphere and a hard place...
Even for The Edge his set up these days is ridiculous and over the top. A guitar for practically each song is silly, considering there were times (Lovetown for example) he only played one guitar and all songs sounded great. I can’t imagine how Dallas manages to do everything he does, especially when every guitar is restrung each show night. Hope he’s on a good wage lol
As a consumer, I recognize. As a man who makes his own music, his taste in tone can change from time to time. He has to be happy playing. His tunes, not ours. I prefer the older version myself because they were the fabric of our past. We are not there anymore In order to get the job done, he has evolved. Nothing Gold can stay.
Dude plays eight notes a show and needs twenty big boy guitars. Come on , guy. I liked U2 way back in '82 even when Bono became Jesus thru to Achtung Baby and they just became this bloated ridiculous arena rock band. Bono the Billionaire...yes, money does make you a wanker.

Everyone needs to find someone who adores them the way Dallas adores Edge

My dream is to meet Edge and get a photo with him. My Idol.👏🇦🇺
Love this! What a guy for Edge to have working with him. He understands how incredible the Edge really is.
What an incredible duo! Just another reason why U2 is so special.
You know, they could easily set up a talkback switch for Edge which would divert his Britney Spears microphone direct to Dallas’s in-ears.
Dallas has the second best job in the world! The Edge has the best!
The sound for Zoo Station is just genius. Just another bit of genius.
Dallas is the man… who helps Edge to be the Greatest individual ever to pick up the guitar.. music is not a competition but channeling pure emotion’ he’s original’ memorable and the one guitarist everybody in the music industry loves
He is the backroom unsung hero
dallas rules
I love Dallas. What a great guy!!
Whenever Dallas speaks, he markets Edge. That’s his job. Does it well.
Can't think of another guitarist that he'd go do this with... but he's on tour as Nils Lofgren's tech for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band as of a week ago..
i remember i almost get one of the guitar picks that Dallas was throwing during the soundcheck (Vertigo Tour 2005/2006). He's the best on his job.
I got one on that tour. Dallas was soundchecking up the catwalk, I screamed out 'Dallas! You're the hardest working guy here!'
He smiled and flicked me a pick.
I love his passion for the work he does this would be a dream job greetings from manly australia
Thank you Dallas for calling them guitar "sounds" and not using the stupid "t" word!
Everyone needs to find themselves someone who talks about and treats them the same way Dallas does with Edge. You can tell this is completely genuine.

Dallas is a fantastic guy 👏👏👏
No more amps 😮… oh well… as long as it sounds good and it does. Hats of to UAFX.

Ah, the Edge sounding like an amateur is cool because he already plays like an amateur

Whats the blank UA pedal on the far right? Prototype?

I think they’re Universal Audio, not sure which models but probably one or two of each amp sim that they make

What, no more Tweeds?
Is he the hardest working tech in the business. Clapton, May and Angus Young basically play the same guitar the whole gig unless a string breaks...
dallas is the edge's personal scab
Sorry Dallas...i dont agree that The Edge improved the Zoo Station intro tone. It used to mega....it seems watered down now.

Apparently someone has remixed one of U2's albums without guitars. I think it takes the edge off.
Thanks for sharing
UAD Dream pedals?
Ruby, Dream and Woodrow primarily.
Does dallas work for other guitarsits then
Yes. For example, upon the conclusion of U2’s Vegas residency, he began traveling with Bruce Springsteen as Nils Lofgren guitar tech.
I think he worked for Prince as well
ruby 63 UAFX omg
Awesome!!!
I'm sorry, did he say 52 years? FIFTY TWO YEARS? Dallas is 69?? WTAF
He'll be 71 this November!!! crazy right? He' stays in shape though thats for sure. ....he's a good friend of mine.....nobody in the world like him!
As much as we all know Edge is great, it would have been nice to have a little more insight into the gear,, this is just Dallas gushing for 5 minutes.
Edge is an absolute gentleman, Bono is an AH of olympic level.
Never get off the bus.
He licks up to him in all the right places..
Put your dummy back in
