Sub hunting was alway the work of corvettes, frigates and destroyers. Trust WG to give their job to cruisers, that sucks! Most likely, it gives subs a chance at survival, but in the real world it was the job of the protectors to look after the gunships, cruisers and battleships. Let destroyers in the game do their job I say!! I could write for hours on this, cruisers were never designed as sub hunters, they are gunships.
The issue in giving destroyers this role is that they already got their hands full as the cappers and spotters and duelers of other dds, i think its a nice fill for the cruisers, or even the light cruisers in particular to give each class some work to do.
I’m just glad cruisers received some utility, they are endangered of being replaced by others. If this is a success they might add to a destroyer branch, we shall see how 13.1 and beyond fair
i would not touch yodo just for that sub survailance. I think Venezia is the better choice. I just hate the yodo... the ballistic´s of the guns feels like Worcester-range-mod or some wierd stuff like that. I know the ship is very balanced around her torps but... no... thx for the vid notser ! :)
Adding submarine surveillance to cruisers is something that will eventually be made available to many other ships. The trick is that we now need to have a good knowledge of which ships have the submarine surveillance going into battle. We need to be more careful when approaching to ensure that you stay out of the range of the cruisers with submarine surveillance range. Thanks for the video.
Sub player here. The hydrophone on subs is useless now because I can not adjust my position anymore to find the perfect angle for torping. I know, If the team is working together, the subs are toast within 5 minutes. Still playing subs and trying to take out the ships with sub survilance first....

Only issue with Venezia line is the detection range, almost have to combo smoke to get close enough against decent sub players.
The Yodo is *such* a pretty ship, it sucks that it's... let's say, not a good light cruiser.

It definitely has changed a lot
I like the hydrophone. I can highlight a grid on the map and my team would air drop depth charge.
The more tools we have to counter sea-lice, the better. Far better for the game if the majority of (surface-ship) players be happy, than them.
U-4501 is my Submarine of choice now. 37 knots underwater.
For most sub players that speed just means they get themselves in a spot to be killed faster
