Since we're spending more time upstate on the property-it makes sense to check out the local scenery and see where I might be able to get some plants.
I was happy to come upon family-owned and operated Tioga Gardens, which has this incredible greenhouse and garden center-built over 50 years ago!

Wear a mask lady
As I have asked previously several times, please enable subtitles! I cannot watch this because this is NOT accessible to a deaf plant lover like me.
I just noticed that most of her videos don't have subtitles :(
That sucks man but anyway you're not missing a lot, just Summer talking about maybe what the plants need but most of the times she just says their name and stay silent
Seconding this request! I went to turn them on and was disappointed that not even the default ones were enabled.
I've done closed captioning before, professionally & would totally be able to closed caption some of these videos, with granted permission of course.
Where is your face mask and why are you guys shaking hands?!
please, wear a mask
kurko27 🤣🤣
I'll watch this later before going to bed so I can have plant-filled dreams.
Same thing here, i just a notify of her new video pop-up this morning. I decided to warch it tonight before bed because it is very busy day today.
Right! Saw TOUR and lost it 😍💚
i did that but now i’m plant shopping.
agreed!
Hahahaha. Word!!!
This episode feels different, because there is the cameraman's voice and it makes this episode more interesting.
It was heartbreaking to see the plant break 💔.
Girl I love you but did you forget we are in a pandemic and you're not wearing a mask AND shaking hands??
Annie Setting sheeple
This was filmed in July (approximately) when masks were just becoming a thing. Americans didn’t realize the severity of this virus back then. I’m sure Summer is more cautious now. Hope everyone is keeping safe during these challenging times and keep on planting.
@ll ._. ll i would like to say criticizing, addressing issues or just calling things out is not canceling.
Why aren’t you wearing a mask? :/
Miss Minka 🤣🤣🤣
Unsubscribing. How extremely selfish and irresponsible.
@ll ._. ll Mistake, or complete disregard for themselves and other peoples lives? Nice try.
Why aren't you wearing masks
Eden go away
No mask, Summer? Really?? While the other workers are masked? Do better.
Do you think you will lose views if wear one? Can't believe I ever subscribed to someone so completely self-centered.
Why you are not wearing a mask when the owner is wearing at the beginning.
Probably because they were in the greenhouse all alone. Lol.... why would they need one if it's just them two?
@@awake8794 to take the owner's safety into account? He clearly cares since he is wearing one
@@xBoshify I'm sure they stayed more than 6ft away. Lol..... people are way too paranoid.
Came for plants but I’m distracted by the lack of masks 😞
Me too, gives me anxiety. 🤷🏻♂️
It’s the lack of masks for me.
This was filmed a long time ago
@@rebekahkasper6126 so why is everyone else wearing a mask in the video 🤔🤔
@@rebekahkasper6126 I don’t think we watched the same video? People literally have masks.
Monsteras grown to full size are spectacular. I clearly remember them as a child in Brazil.
Ledebouria Socialis in Indonesia we called it “Lidah Katak” which means “Frog tongues” 😁
Emang?
halo sobat potek
Why don’t you wear a mask
I’m super late to the party but this makes my heart so happy, I’m 43 and grew up nearby. My dad would take me to walk around the greenhouse for fun when I was little, when they had peacocks living inside! We would also poke at the Venus flytraps, sorry TG 😂 The family who owned it would come to our school and teach us how to arrange flowers on career day, and I got my prom corsage from here. It is such an institution but I never thought about how rare and special it was to have such a resource, especially in such an rural area. My mom made our house into the most beautiful jungle when I was a kid, and I always wished I had asked her before we lost her where she was able to get all her treasures- I think now I know for sure! Now that I’ve gotten into plants I frequent them all the time, they are always so helpful and friendly. I have a thriving Cracklin’ Rosie begonia from them in my own jungle and it makes me so happy that it probably came from that momma in the dome, life comes full circle 🖤
yayy so glad the field trips are back!!
0:08 off to a bad start already...
I don't get it. Why aren't you all wearing masks?
Theres TONS of Mimosa here its our childhood plant here in the Philippines. Maybe visit sometime
I thought you were going to describe the jasmine as “ambrosial” to keep the pattern up.
I don’t even need a greenhouse in Costa Rica. I don’t know what cold even is #blessed #sayNoToColdWeather
😂 you're lucky
ahaha enjoy it for those of us using humidifiers and heaters to try and make our little apartment jungles survive the tough winters.
Stay safe out there.
@la France me either, I’m in north Australia
Even me. I live in kerala, India. Very humid.
Only a minute in and I just wanna say that I appreciate all the effort and quality that goes into your videos Summer. With all the ‘plantubers’ rising, you still stand out and produce original content. Thank you and your film/editing crew
I wonder when this episode was filmed.
Late July/early august. I worked there at the time.
13:32 That is a Boungainvillea variegata. You can clearly see the thorns protruding from the stems which members of that genus have. Great tour overall & cannot wait to see more field trips like this.
I really, really, appreciate that you label the plants with the botanical names.
A 30 minute video??? 2021 is off to a good start.
I believe that Thaumatophyllum is a bipinnatifidum, not xanadu.
"Xanadu" is a cultivar name.
Not the same as species.
@@MrMyKidd But then what is Xanadu? Cause that iss defiantly not the Xanadu "philodendron" with the common name Xanadu.
@@JXZ-JAM Carlos has the species right. I am in agreement that the plants featured is not the Xanadu cultivar.
I'm disappointed that Summer disrespectfully did not wear a mask, and that the owner felt safe with her.
She would have been escorted to the highway. Disappointing.
it takes her many months and even up to a year before uploading videos. this was probably filmed at the beinning of covid before it became such a widespread issue. almost nobody wore masks or even accepted the danger initially. you can see it is clearly spring last year when it was filmed because of the stage the corn in the field is.
think before you comment and start denouncing before you know the facts
what concern is it of yours weather or not she wore a mask. She was in a greenhouse with only the camera man. She said if any customers came in she would have to put a mask on. If the owner was worried about it he would have said so. So why are you worried about it. Just enjoy the plants and don't worry about what a stranger on you tube is doing.
@@LaFranceBonjour start from the beginning.
@@flowergirl8887 whether not weather.
It became everyone's concern when Coronavirus became a pandemic.
Summer knows better.
@@janetteshultz4113 AS I Said if the owner was concerned about it than he would have said something.
I think the plant you are looking at around 8:09 is Soleirolia soleirolii and not a Pilea. It is also a matt forming low growing plant often referred to as baby tears.
This is a lot better than online school 😂 And also can you do a tour of your succulents ?
Never heard the cameraman's voice before 😅
she has a video where she does a plant tour at his apartment! he seems like a cool guy
@@meganmondelli4426 Never saw that, which video?
I miss going to greenhouses and garden centres. Just makes you feel calmer.
I feel ya
Yours aren't open..? Ours have been open the entire time
@@GM-ju4co In the UK its a lockdown
Isn't the species of the Thaumatophyllum supposed to be "bipinnatifidum"? I believe Xanadu is a much smaller cultivar.
100% not a xanadu!
I like this video for the plants... and the cameraman's voice
Ledebouria socialis or scila violecea is a native of South Africa... however mine which I have for over two years now..never bloomed
Love from India
I MISSED THESE FEILD TRIPS!!😊
I love that we get to hear Sander here! Does he always talk and you just clipped him out, before? lol
.
I hope you go to kew gardens or Edinburgh botanic gardens one day
I'd be game for a full-blow series of her visiting the gardens of the worlds.
i know ill get alot of hate for this but it really nagged at me you didn't wear a mask weather you were alone approaching, an employee who wore one which seem disrespectful to his health and well being or when we did see you wear one it was under your nose. its everyone's responsibility to protect the other around us.
Good to see such passion of family business & the guy is taking care of this in really nice manner !
I am so surprised to see :3 Thanks
Just amazing. Nice vid. Really well filmed. Cheers 👍
Why do barrel cactus always have clovers growing in the same pot? 🤣
You always make me want to curl up in a corner and watch when you upload
Hello Summer! Thanks for your amazing videos... isnt it the one you called xanadu, the thaumatophyllum bippinafitidum? my xanadu looks much more different... :)
I will be visiting this place in the Spring/Summer. Didn't know about it until now,Thought I was the only cacti nut in upstate NY. Hope to one day have a greenhouse that big or dome..Thanks Summer, and Sander for the visuals👍
Damn!!!! The discovery inside the dome is just too short! Need longer duration i don’t mind but sander may need some time to hold that camera. Hahaha. That dome allows you to see the full autonomy of the plants which have been there for while. Need more beautiful shot from Sander and one by one explanatory from Summer. I don’t mind spending a hour watching Sander and Summer have a gig with 🪴
Why aren’t u wearing a mask..that ain’t cool
You got it wrong with the anthurium. The green flower one is the oldest, the white ones are newly bloom. Got so many anthuriums in my garden that I knew each changes they made.
You will soon have your greenhouse😄😄😄
Summer you have to see the domes in Milwaukee, Wisconsin!
I like it❤️
Nice tour! I could get lost in there for hours 😊💚
This intro didn't age well lol. Beautiful GH tho.
Why?
I’m so glad I don’t really have to worry about houseplant toxicity 😊 My dog’s not interested. But my tortoise I have to keep an eye on since he’s eaten a hoya leaf or two 🤦🏻♀️
I love this place. I live and buffalo and this place is truly amazing. Another really cool place in New York is marlow orchids. They have a few greenhouses and so many orchids. They also grow their own from seeds.
That big Cycad is not Cycas revoluta but Cycas thouarsii. Incorrectly labelled.
Misidentified the plant @13:30 . It is just a bougainvillea. Not a clerodendrum thomsoniae variegata.
I like your videos. You're cute.
Great tour, just wonder what happens to the really tall plants when they reach the glass. Also is there anything happening on your other channel that your started after you bought the new property?
Name of company and location plz
Saya sangat suka dgn content ini, inspiratif bagi saya, melihat Nursery modern, so nice ,saya Nort Sumatera, saya berkeinginan membuka bisnis ini, ,mantap....
I hope you take a trip to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. They're garden is absolutely stunning. I love this garden too. Wish I lived closer.
So excited.. this is our nursery. About a 40 minute drive from me. I was there three times this year.
Lol! In bonsai you would cut it off as a "bar-branch". But I like the arms out "AAAHHHH". Style as well, hope the grafting works, 🤞
Those Ficus elastica, benjamina and 'Audrey' were amazing!
Another dome conservatory for you to visit is the Muttart Conservatory in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. There are 4 glass pyramids, wonderful!
Thank you ! such a stress buster this is. this just reminds me of how much there is in this world to explore.
I kinda wanna see more Caladiums and Alocasias.. ^_^
Hello Summer Rayne Oakes !
I want to let you know that Your video does NOT have a closed caption (CC) or subtitles. There are many people with hearing loss who need to watch with CC on. You can go to UA-cam Setting to add or to put CC on. And always keep CC ON all the time! So, many people with hearing loss (young to old) with different degrees of hearing loss have a hard time listening to understand. CC helps us to understand.
Please let me know that you put/set CC up. Thank you !
clerodendrum with thorns ????? (look at the branch that's out of focus, you can clearly see a thorn sticking down) - looks more like a bougainvillea raspberry ice.
Verry cool place and video! Thanks! But the thaumatofilum is not a xanadu. It looks like a bipinatifidum
wow, you certainly know the names of the plants. how adorable!
Wow😍 the greenhouse so FaNTASTIC!! Its look Like Heaven, I love all your video mam since i started, im your Co-Plantita From Philipines
I have really missed our field trips!!! Thanks so much! 🐔😍
three 'Dracaena' labeled on screen are Sanseveria unless they've been moved into Dracaena, which seems unlikely, you spoke 'Sanseveria' but label showed 'Dracaena'. Later there was a Sanseveria that you spoke in video as 'Dracaena'.
Thanks for another fun tour! At 27:57 is a plumeria rubra, not euphorbia leucaneura, at least judging by leaves and that tip it’s definitely a plumeria not euphorbia
Hi, Summer Rayne Oakes, I have watch many of your videos, it so nice to see plants around the world. i believe you will like this Caladium show in thailand that i came across.
It is pronounced MonstERA not monstra. Monstera deliciosa - delicious monster.
The aloe looks like a.saponaria but of course you can't be sure with aloes, especially with no flower.
If it was me i was going to "steal" that little plant too, if they are many of them they're not going to miss a tiny plant.
She actually loves plants ......when she touches plants its can see .........
It's funny how everyone wants to go to a place that is made beautiful, but no one is willing to make their place more beautiful
I think that's a thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum and not a thaumatophyllum xanadu
Plants. What the world needs right now.
What an absolute gem....I think any plant owner would love to own something similar to this. Great video!
Gryphon begonias would look amazing in there!
I always wait your field trip summer . thanks hope you post of you field trip
Dude ... you have the BEST job in the world!!!
Bhahahaha 😂 " I'm smiling under my mask " .... bhahahaha good to know its a thing 😉
Base on my experience the flower of white Anthurium eventually gets green as they mature.
This is sad you touched all the plants with your oily hands and constantly pulled the leaves I thought you would have show more respect when visting a place
did she say "you-cca" I dont want to sound rude but i was born and raised in new mexico and we all call it "yuck-a"😄😄
always love field trips. Thank you
is it a thaumatophyllum Xanadu? Or is it a Selloum?
Thank you for this video
Fantastic 😂
Can we get a face reveal of your camera man 😂
He has been on several videos. she did a tour of his house plants.
Adds dome greenhouse to list of wants!!!
Native to my home country - South Africa!
