Hi Jayda, I followed along with your video for your cowl infinity scarf but I must be doing something wrong as I ran out of yarn using 113 g skein plus some left over from a matching hat so I started another cowl using a 142 g skein and ran out of that. They both measure 7 inches high, 8 rows and 14 inches laid flat left to right . I followed your instructions stitch for stitch. Mine look just like yours but I ran out of yarn. I also would like to say I am addicted to your videos. You are an excellent instructor and a breath of fresh air. I'm in Wisconsin so I also know the cold weather. Please continue with your wonderful videos. You've already taught me so much. Made your perfect fit hat and it fits perfectly! Your camera man does excellent work. Makes a world of difference. Thank you.
+imad imad Hi Imad! Thank you so much for watching :) With the smaller skeins, for example, the 100 g in Grey that I used, I just crocheted until I ran out of yarn. Or at least, I finished the last possible full row and then fastened off. I used a 10mm hook with the size 5 bulky yarn - but all of us have different stitch tension and this can have a big effect on the overall use of our yarn.
Watching your videos just makes me happy! You are such a joy to watch and learn from. Thank you for taking the time to make your videos, I chuckle to myself quite often!!
You really enjoy the series”Still Standing”. It is on Amazon. It really shows the small town pride all over from the Atlantic to the Pacific no matter the terrible adversities and the resilience & pride❣️. Love your tutorials your so special & give the best tips, thank you❣️👍🤩
Oh this was so out of my comfort zone. I am a very seasoned crocheter & this was an enjoyable challenge. Thank you for sharing this tutorial. Your instructions were so clear & I love you enthusiasm & encouragements.
First I want to say how much I love your videos! You are so informative and your video recording is excellent. I love how cheery and funny you are as well. Just delightful to watch your tutorials! Thank you for the tip on how to keep the seams straight on crocheting rounds. I had a terrible time last year, I'm just learning still, trying to crochet hats or beanies without a visible seam. Thank you again for your tips and tricks! I just wanted you to know how appreciated you are by me and many others learning to crochet. ❤❤❤
Of all the crochet tutorials I've watched to learn how to crochet scarves ,cowls, blankets, etc. I've never enjoyed one as much as I've enjoyed this one. You are absolutely darling. Your laugh and your smile and your energy are totally infectious ! Your tutorial was easy to understand ,and easy to follow. I've actually made 3 beautiful cowls this afternoon with your great tutorial! Thank you so much! I look forward to more of your creative easy to learn crochet tutorials! Nancy
Hey Jayda, You are an indepth teacher, your step by step explanation on doing the pattern was very easy to follow for a beginner like me. I did a neck collar for my 5 yr old grandson using a bulky 6 ply yarn with a 5mm crochet hook and 60 chains. It turned out perfectly! So hats off to you for an excellent job. Your bubbly personality is what makes you wonderful. Thank you very very for sharing
Thanks, Jayda. I appreciate your prompt reply. I did use the 11.5mm hook as in your video so mine did take some extra yarn. I bought another skein and it turned out very nicely. I did your trick on every other row so back seam blended in really well. Christmas presents for granddaughters so hope they like them.
This was such a great tutorial. This was the first time that I have made a cowl. It was so easy to make. You are a wonderful teacher. I love the tip you gave about adding an extra slip stitch every other row.
Jayda, you are really a goofy gal and I appreciate you. I have ADD and can follow yours and one other persons videos, not easy. I also like your techniques like how you hold your hook and your way of connecting rows. It is great to have the pattern to go along with the video and I can work having both tabs open. It is always helpful when you do, like with this video, start by telling us how much yarn we need to complete the project. I find that essential to avoid a trip to the store nearing the end of a project. Have a great day and thank you.
Your tutorials are Soooo easy to follow, especially since you don't make it sound very over complicated. Also I'm a bit younger and even I can understand what you're talking about. I highly recommend your channel to anybody, be they young or old.
Hi Jayda love all your videos your sooo bubblie it's great to watch... 😂😊... Please can you share what yarn this is and the yarn in your Gothic black wrap (gorgeous btw) please please if it's discontinued as I know these videos are a few many yrs ago could you maybe suggest an alternative I would much appreciate your help and guidance as I have made many many of your projects especially stash busting ones lol.. Thank you keep the bubblie coming ❤xx
Hi Allyson, this is Red Heart Light n Lofty (which I think is discontinued) but any size 6 super fluffy yarn would suit this project. We used Loops n Threads "Cozy Wool" for the Gothic Wrap 😊 Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much for all your tips, especially about how to keep the seam from going at a slant. I have just completed a pair of leg warmers and couldn't understand why the seam was going so crooked. Wish I had know this tip sooner, but now I know how to correct it. Big hugs.
I love your videos, they are easy to follow. I learn something new in each one and you explain each stitch clearly and pace it appropriately. Thank you! I will continue to view what you have already posted and look forward to new posts!
I am in Central Florida so it doesn’t get that cold. But, you never know with the weird weather and am always looking for different Christmas ideas❣️. I really appreciate your tutorials JAYDA. As a matter of fact we have been binge watching a Canadian program called Still Standing,it shows small towns all over Canada and how through their generous spirit how they’ve been able to overcome their adversities 🥰. Yeah Canada❣️❣️
This is my first cochet project so I was working on it alongside your instructions, I was nervous at first but I think it will come out fine, I'm really excited about what the finished product will look like.
Cool tutorial. I'm 1/2 way through mine. I did a red border on the bottom, making the middle blue, and I hope to finish with a red border on the top when I finish. Thanks.
I just came upon this tutorial! I love it! I have a bunch of the same yarn in different colors and can't wait to give it a go! Great for Christmas gifts which will be here before we know it! Thanks!
You're such a breath of fresh air. Great tutorial Jayda. I'm just making your shawl at the moment in a beautiful cranberry colour. I can't wait to show you. Can I request you do a tutorial on the fingerless gloves/wrist warmer please? All the cowls you did are lovely, but I think the green on you is my favourite. I hope you're having a lovely weekend? Take care my Sweet Jayda, love from across the pond.xxx 💗
+Laura Filby Hi Laura!! Ohmygosh your shawl sounds GORGEOUS!!! I love cranberry!! Am definitely planning another fingerless glove tutorial, I love them (and wear a LOT of them this time of year!) I hope you had a beautiful weekend (nice and cozy by the fire in the evening with a cup of tea? * sigh * just a DREAM!!)
+Jayda InStitches Yes Sweetheart, I had a lovely weekend.. Lots of crochet and cups of tea. 😊 My little man is in bed, so now I'm putting my feet up and crocheting more of the shawl. I was wondering if I could message you privately? Xxx
Hi Laura! Yup! You can message me through the channel if you like (just go to the About page on the channel homepage and there's a little button that says 'send message' its private :) Sounds like it was a lovely evening!! The wind was actually making blowy, 'creeky old house' sounds last night...I pulled the blanket up a little tighter and dove into a lovely cup of English Breakfast :)
Hi Anne! That first row of chains and even single crochet can be a little twisty! It sometimes helps to make your chained foundation row, then lay it down on your work surface and flatten it out, then join your ring and just focus on 1 chain at a time...take the odd break to lay it flat again :)
Cool l love easy chunky cowls that uses big hooks. Sometimes I prefer to use a Q hook or 15mm for an even more drape although it might use a little more yarn. I just love your show👍
Hi Jeanna, the bigger the hook, the bigger the stitch and in this case, definitely more drape :) You're right, however, you'll need more yarn to get something about the same depth :)
Jayda, I love your videos and your personality. I’ve been trying to find a good video for a cowl and scarf. I always look to your videos for easy and fast explanation on how to crochet last minute gifts 🎁.😍😃Love from the USA Gusher, Utah 💋Besos Trista
Love it can’t wait to make one can you please tell me the name of the pink yarn it to use the fluffy one that’s the one I want to use name brand and color thank you
Fabulous video! I'm just learning how to crochet so I'm making this up in a practice 20 chain piece. My question: At 6:37 the video says: ‘You’re going to take your hook and join your entire row, so put your hook through your first chain and slip stitch,” but I can’t see, is the hook going under 1 thread or 2 threads as it goes through the first chain?
Hi Cynthia, you want to use whatever part of that top chain that you can get your hook into. Whether it's the top loop, or 2 loops, it's not terribly important with this project :)
Would the instructions cover using reg (not bulky) yarn or would I have to add rows/stitches? I want to make one, but don't have the bulky yarn. Thanks!
Hi Linda, if you're going to use size 4 medium weight yarn, you might want to hold 2 or 3 strands together with the big hook and that will bring it up to the size of the really bulky yarn we used in this tutorial 😊
HI Marlene, we have several fingerless glove tutorials :) Just search "Jayda InStitches gloves" in the UA-cam search bar and they should all pop right up :)
I love this pattern I can't wait to get started thank you I don't need to buy any more crochet books now that I discovered you😊👍ps I would love to show you my black and white pocket puppy that I altered from your pattern but I don't know how to send it to you I don't know how to do Google :(
+Wendell Monster :) If you have a UA-cam account you have an everything Google account :) You can select Google+ from the list of google applications (near the top of your page ) and at the top of your 'feed' you'll have the option to upload a comment, photo, gallery, etc. (just like the other socials). From there, you can select a picture to upload and in the comment section you can tag me :) It's my favorite what to swap photos around!
Hi Jayda! I'm making a Disney Esmeralda inspired cowl with little crochet coins. I was wondering if you could make something else Disney related for a crochet tutorial. 😊
Hi Jayda! Sorry so long!! I was taught how to make dish clothes 4 years ago(only crocheted for a short time). So almost 4 years later I decided to give another go. I kinda remembered how to do it, but my starting corner was giving me a hard time. That's when I found your videos. I love them. You are very detailed & take your time where I can understand it. I finished my first baby blanket with multiple colors with your help, only took a month on and off. I'm wanting to make some infinity scarfs. I watched the Cowl infinity Scarf & it doesn't look like the kind my mom wears from the store, hers has a twist & not as wide. I'm new @ this. What's the difference & do you have a video that is just an infinity scarf? :)
+Neke Bolling Hi Neke! Welcome back to Crochet! :) The term "infinity" in regards to a scarf means it goes around in a circle with no end. Unlike a regular scarf that has two ends to it. This is the first infinity scarf tutorial I've put up but I'll probably be doing more! It sounds like the scarf your mom has is a really looooooong infinity scarf that requires the wearer to wrap it around their head (by twisting it, like a long necklace) in order to shorten it up enough that it wraps around their neck. Those are super cozy too! But they definitely require more than a single ball of yarn...especially if you're going to use the cozy, bulky type.
+Jayda InStitches Thank you, I'm loving it. Oh ok. I don't want any seams on these. I'm going to start these in a week or so, I'll keep my eyes open. Thank you for the response
Thanks for the great tip, I made a cowl and it did e,exactly what you said! I didn't like it! Now ican make one using your method . Thanks again , :-) Love you video's!
+Theresa Castillo And it looks REALLY obvious on some projects! (drives me a little nuts LOL) With the super fluffy yarn it doesn't matter (another reason I like that stuff) but with the smooth yarn, it shows! Thank you for watching, Theresa :)!
Love this.... could you do a regular worsted; but just use the crochet needle it calls for? Just got new ones tonight :D I am obsessed with these bamboo handled ones. #acmoorelove
Instead of going round and round, if you turn at the end of each round and go in the other direction, that will also eliminate the dreaded diagonal seam.
Hi Jayda!! Your Videos taught me how to crochet! now im a confident crocheter and want to sell some pieces on etsy, if i made some of the cowls from this pattern could i sell them? or is that a big no no?
Hi Sophie, you're more than welcome to sell articles you make using our patterns, just provide our name and a link to our website, Etsy shop or UA-cam channel for the design credit :)
I actually found a big, fat P hook in my stash if hooks... I have no idea of where it came from.,, I believe it is an old Susan Bates Lucite Hook... Inused to use those Lucite hooks a lot. There is a donation CAL going on that I want to crochet fit. Thus cielmus perfect. Thanks!
I love your vids and this scarf is beautiful! I cant see the vid clear enough to see if you crochet thru the top 2 stitches( that I call the V” or the back one that rund thru the middle? Thank you!!
+sunkitty19 If you use a smaller hook, your stitches will be a little smaller and you might need to go a few more rows...but you probably won't need any more or less yarn! I hope that helps :)
Great video girl. With the big hooks and homespun and homespun thick n quick by lion brand can you do a cowl with those yarns and larger hooks ? Thank you
Hi Angela, the homespun would work just like the yarn I used in this tutorial (same hook too!) but you might need 2 skeins of the thick n quick because they tend to get used up quickly!
Instead of doing these zigzag alternating row joins, can you just keep crocheting straight over the join in continuous rounds with no join at all? Just wondering because that is used with a hat pattern that I saw recently and it looks very nice also.
+Emmalee Larson HeyImNyanCat Definitely! What a great idea, thank you :) If you're looking for more hair pin ideas, I have a few small flower tutorials and a teddy bear face tutorial, just check out my videos page via the Channel homepage :)
+Jayda InStitches I really like to see what you come up with every time you post a video sometimes they are really helpful because where I'm at it is almost winter🌲🍂🍁❄️❄️❄️❄️
I love love love your crochet tutorials and have learned so much! (got a long way to go but.........) anyway I have a question. I made a scarf but I would like it a little longer..........how can I do that without ruining it? I chained 83 but wish I had went longer :-( Thanks Jayda and keep doing your videos - I always look forward to the beginnings as they are so cute! Blessings - Ter-Bear.
Hi Ter-Bear, thank you for watching :) You can work a border all the way around it until it's a little longer, or you can do something completely different and make something like a granny square that is the same width of your scarf and sew one to each end :)
That tip for every other row - 2 slip stitches, will transform my wonky unravelled hats. Thank you Jayda. You rock. Love your enthusiasm x
No more wonky hats!! Yay!! :)
I really like the way you teach. Your explanations are so clear, and it’s super helpful that you point out the stitches. Thank you.
Thank you for watching Ann 😊
You r the most enjoyable, carefree instructor.... eeeasy to follow..... clear insfruction... Always chipper... Just a pleasure.... Thx Jayda!
Hi there! Thank you so much for watching :)

P.S. I loved the sound of the wind in this video! Perfect for making a cozy cowl!
Thank you so much for your kindness. I love the way you teach.
Thank you for teaching your trick!! I like the look of hdc in the rounds but hate the slanting of the starting chain! Love it!!
Hey Jayda, You are an indepth teacher, your step by step explanation on doing the pattern was very easy to follow for a beginner like me. Hi Hansi, we're so glad your project worked out! Thank you so much for watching :)
I always wondered how to hide the seam. Thanks for the tip
+imad imad Oooh, I think they'll be very well received :) Who doesn't like to be cozy!
Jayda, the cowl is very pretty and I can't wait to make one. I looked and listened to all your directions, now I feel encouraged enough to do it.
This was such a great tutorial. This was the first time that I have made a cowl. It was so easy to make. You are a wonderful teacher. I love the tip you gave about adding an extra slip stitch every other row.

Hi Kelli! Thank you for the suggestion :)
Do you make cardigans if so I need a pattern please.
Thank you n VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!🎁🎍🍾🥂
That cowl looks beautiful on you 😍 thank you for the tutorial 💜 can you please tell me what yarn you used in the begining please its fluffy 💕
Thank you Iris 💗 The fluffy yarn is Red Heart Light & Lofty
The pink cowl you have on. Could u mention the yarn and color ? Thank you.
Hi Sue, that was Red Heart Light n' Lofty in rose :)
Very nice thanks
Thanks for the great tip, I made a cowl and it did e,exactly what you said! I didn't like it! Now ican make one using your method . Thanks again , :-) Love you video's!
+Theresa Castillo And it looks REALLY obvious on some projects! (drives me a little nuts LOL) With the super fluffy yarn it doesn't matter (another reason I like that stuff) but with the smooth yarn, it shows! Thank you for watching, Theresa :)!
Your so welcome! Have a great day!
Hi jayda, could you tell me the name of the pink yarn that you wear, it verry nice!😉
Hi Sophie, that was Red Heart Light and Lofty in rose pink (I believe) :)
Love this.... could you do a regular worsted; but just use the crochet needle it calls for? Just got new ones tonight :D I am obsessed with these bamboo handled ones. #acmoorelove
Yes, totally! :)
Thx Jayda!
I loved both of these. I am going to give this a try. I made a regular scarf in the colors of the K.C. Chiefs colors. So much fun.
Instead of going round and round, if you turn at the end of each round and go in the other direction, that will also eliminate the dreaded diagonal seam.
Great tip! Luckily, if you're using the fluffy yarn, the reverse of the stitch isn't as noticeable either :)
Thank you!!
Hi Toby, I used the whole stitch for this (so both top loops) :)
Jayda what is the brand name of the yarn thank you very good tutorial👍👍👍
Hi Silvia, I've used a few different kinds of thick yarn here, one of them is red heart "light and lofty" the other is Bernat "softee chunky"
Hi Jayda! If I use a smaller hook, like a 10mm that you mentioned, will I need more yarn? Thanks!
+sunkitty19 If you use a smaller hook, your stitches will be a little smaller and you might need to go a few more rows...but you probably won't need any more or less yarn! I hope that helps :)
+Jayda InStitches yes that does help! Thanks!
Love your tips! Always helpful as I continue to learn crochet.
Thank you Jayda .
Thanks for sharing thats my Christmas gifts sorted xx
Instead of doing these zigzag alternating row joins, can you just keep crocheting straight over the join in continuous rounds with no join at all? Just wondering because that is used with a hat pattern that I saw recently and it looks very nice also.
Hi Danette, that works if you're using sc, hdc tends to give you an obvious "jog" where the rows change :)
Jayda, can I use blanket yarn to make this?
Hi Bertha, you can! I imagine that would be really warm too!
@@JaydaInStitches thank you for replying. I have never made one before but I would love to try, with you help, thank you Jayda
Thanks!
Thank you I am going to make one
Lovely! Thank you for watching 😊
good job as normal xx thanks for the tip xxx
Amazing. I have to try:)
I never knew how to read the size 🧶. Or to know what size needle. Nor how to weave the ends when finished.
Thanks for teaching me. 🥰❣️
Great tip. I hate that wandering seam.
That's a pretty hook though I love it lol 😂
Jayda InStitches can you make a little kitty cat hairpin or a nyan at hair pin?
+Emmalee Larson HeyImNyanCat Definitely! What a great idea, thank you :) If you're looking for more hair pin ideas, I have a few small flower tutorials and a teddy bear face tutorial, just check out my videos page via the Channel homepage :)
+Jayda InStitches I know I'm subscribed to you and I think that I've watched almost all of your videos
+Jayda InStitches I really like to see what you come up with every time you post a video sometimes they are really helpful because where I'm at it is almost winter🌲🍂🍁❄️❄️❄️❄️
Here too! We had SNOW ALL WEEKEND!! I took pictures LOL
Nice work
I love love love your crochet tutorials and have learned so much!
