That punch at the end.. I honestly don't know if I was shouting yes or no but I was screaming alright. The build up to that moment was masterful. I love Hadrian but William is definitely on my list of favorite characters (in fiction) as well. You saw it coming, you prayed Hadrian wouldn't be that stupid.. but, you knew it was inevitable after what happened. Yet you also cannot fault William for his actions that led to it because you admire him so damn much after this book. Fucking hell you are writing a masterpiece.

Theses books are a next level. The development of Hadrian is crazy. He learns to embrace his suffering and then hes broken by Doryiaca now valka is dead. Man how much more can one man take. I hope for a heroic redemption but is that even possible at this point. What an epic story so far.
Perfect timing. I (normally a fantasy reader) finished it yesterday, LOVED it (same as the former ones) and am waiting for the next one!
William let me down when he said Valka was just a Tavrosi. I'm very disappointed in him

While watching this the Enterprise theme song keeps playing in my mind. "Its been a long time, getting from there to here." Hadrian could have that put under his seal.
Working my way through my second listen of the Audiobook and enjoying them even more the second time.

Just a Tavroshi. Really starting to feel the pitch of the story now. He should have left the planet - he is the symbol of the empire. It's becoming clearer why decisions will be made in order to win. To beat the enemy, sometimes you need to know how far they are willing to go - and go there as well. All in the name of the greater good because you know what the alternative is.
Hit me in my feelings all over again
I finished reading the book yesterday right before work and regretted not pushing through with it the night before... Because then I ended up grieving Valka the entire day. I was glad I was alone in the office because I just kept crying and crying and shaking my head at the thought of our poor Hadrian being all alone now. Why did William not listen to Hadrian and continue with his voyage? And since everything in that universe (hypothetically) serves the purpose of giving birth to the Quiet, then there must be a crucial purpose for her death. But I kept asking myself, why did she have to die? Why couldn't Hadrian raise his daughter with Valka together? Why? Why? I hope you won't disappoint in the upcoming books, otherwise my little heart will be shattered *cries again*

In universe? They're probably all Jaddian Maeskoloi of the inner circles, or Extrasolarian cyborgs. In the text, probably Olorin, Hadrian, Cassandra, Vati, and...I'm not sure.
