Meeting Phil Collins at a SiriusXM on air Townhall

On February 2, 2016, my wife won a SiriusXM contest to come down to their studio's in New York City and ask Phil Collins a question on the air. She was able to take a guest, which happens to be me and we flew off to New York City on February 1st. After checking into our hotel, we immediately went out that night to get the lay of the land, find the studio and make sure we weren't late the next day.
On the day of the interview, we arrived on time at 1221 Ave of the Americas and met up with the other winners and their guests in the lobby. I was pretty calm until we got our Phil Collins special guest badges. They looked very official and the reality set in that we were going to finally meet the man. So, I did get a little nervous going up. But I calmed down since my work was done and it was all up to Sonya to ask her question on the air and I could sit back and relax.
The contest consisted of submitting 3 questions that you wanted to ask Phil and SiriusXM would pick one of them you could ask on the air. Apparently, she submitted the right mix of questions as they selected all 3 of hers to read on the air. So, she picked one of the 3 to read on the air and I was allowed to pick one of the two remaining questions and another person who was a guest got to read the third question on the air. How cool was that!!!
I've put together a video of our two questions being asked by us and Phil's response to these questions. The Town Hall was hosted by Mark Goodman, who did an excellent job following up with Phil as he answered our questions.
All in all, it was an amazing experience, and would rank it up there as one of the top 10 things I've gotten to experience in life. I'm sure my wife ranks it at #1 on her list. 🙂
