    Finally someone that talks about the bads of yamaha as well as the good.... There is a lot of people always talking poo about seadoo and they're issues but likes everything issues can happen to anything.... Well done video keep rolling

      All manufacturers have their flaws and weak points. There’s no perfect watercraft out there by any means.

    • @relaxation2380
      @relaxation2380 2 роки тому

      Well to the credit of everyone else they're issues can be fixed through aftermarket sources... how do you fix the fact seadoo uses 3 mounting point for their engine? Or that they use a cooling system that utilized the ride plate? Or the fact they use a carbon seal? Granted the carbon seal was greatly improved upon this year but still.. seadoo sells soo many craft and they still can't do basic things to make their ski more reliable and easy for the consumer to work on.. I mean look up how easy it is to fit an auxiliary gas tank on any waverunner or jetski then see how hard it is to do it on a seadoo! Sorry I am biased against seadoo I had a 2002 kawi that never had any issues while my buddies dad had bought the best of the best seadoos that were always in the shop and ended up blowing up while my kawi is still out there going strong.. sold it to a person I know

    • @andreabta
      @andreabta 2 роки тому

      @@relaxation2380 pretty confident if you do some math on how many seadoo get sold over one year and how many break the percentage is probably lot lower than others.
      But as everything go to the base on how it get use maintained and treated over time. Owned 3 seadoo 2 brand new including new gtx with IDF (by the way my IDF was part of the "defected" badge and have 50hrs on it without needing to replace it) and one brand new for 6 years modified ride it for well over 250hr and sold it as new without any issue (we still riding together with the buyer) in between this 6 years I bought a 300 according to the owner had issues like leaking carbon seal.
      I bought it and need to replace the shafr after 1 year it was rusted as probably never washed properly is been 3 years that I'm riding it without any problems at all have 350hr on it and apart from normal maintenance has no problem.
      It all goes down on people and how they treat they're stuff.... For the person that tries to do work at home if it gets too hard is not manufactured fault is probably hon not capable or should probably pay someone else to do it properly

    I have a '17 GP1800. It's blown up multiple times and after 3 engines I think has about 14 hours on it 6 to 7 seasons later.
    I still love Yamaha...bought a '22 Grizzly XTR. This ski on the other hand not so much. Your dad has sold me parts to try and fix it several times.
    I am going to give it a last hurrah this upcoming season and replace the head for the 3rd time...cracked. I followed my brother around while he attempted to break the unit in this past summer...the second it shot an alarm, we towed it in. Milky oil. Pumped it out, filled the engine up with a ton of oil and walked the eff away.
    a 14,000 investment initially...has now cost me about 50k and run for a whopping 30 minutes each time before failing hardcore. Don't blame Jim or anyone...just Yamaha.

      This failure had nothing to do with the ski being modified, this failure was due to Yamahas design flaw. It’s happening on bone stock skis. More info here

    Yamaha "legendary" reliability not good at all along with its weak supercharger and paper thin weak hulls and defective ignition coil wiring, many reasons not buy one if these machines.

    • @GreenHulkGarage
      @GreenHulkGarage  2 роки тому +1

      To be fair, all manufacturers have their issues. I’ve had countless high performance yamahas in my garage, none of them had a supercharger issue, none had defective coil wiring, none needed a clutch change after hard hours of abuse, and any hull issues only came from impacts to the hull. I’ve had seadoos in my garage that have blown oem coolant lines and burned up engines with less than 20 hours on the clock. The fact is all manufacturers have their duds; to call out one brand over another on reliability is simply not fair considering all of them have defects

  • @charlestaylor3434

    Bum deal bro. While I agree that your mods did not cause the ribbon to come loose, the fact that you readily admit that the ensuing damage would not be covered under warranty completely contradicts the common phrase repeated by your father and you. "That Yamaha would have to prove that the failure of any one part was directly caused by an aftermarket modification"
    Yamaha doesn't have to prove squat! Karen at warranty claims simply has to say WARRANTY COVERAGE IS DENIED! Thank you next customer please.

    • @GreenHulkGarage
      @GreenHulkGarage  2 роки тому

      Yes they do have to prove that modifications caused a failure. In this case there’s no way to prove directly what caused it so warranty denied. However if my display went out, steering system broke, a hull defect, etc then they can’t deny my warranty because of engine modifications as that wasn’t the cause.

    • @GreenHulkGarage
      @GreenHulkGarage  2 роки тому +3

      And could have I gotten this covered under warranty? Quite possibly depending on the dealer. But why should I wait months for a dealer to get it fixed when I can spend next to nothing to replace a valve? I had a valve here and the entire ski up and running in a matter of days. No labor cost as I do the work myself, very simple and cheap fix for me.

    • @charlestaylor3434
      @charlestaylor3434 2 роки тому +1

      @@GreenHulkGarage I completely agree. The problem is just like you said, in this situation the cause wouldn't be able to be proven so than your at the mercy of Yamaha and/or your dealer to cover the claim. Where if the machine was stock there would be no concern if it would be covered or not. A modded machine opens the door for denial. For example in this situation, YAMAHA: "you see sir the increased air velocity from you air box modifications ie. CAI, is what caused the flame arrestor to become dislodged"
      Not hating on mods. My ski is heavily modified. Just speaking the truth. Hopefully few people will find themselves in such a situation but it happens in ALL areas of warranty coverage of products.
