  • Just a short boat ride away from Dubrovnik Old Town lies a mysterious and beautiful island: Lokrum Island.
There’s no need to bring your wallet with you on this day trip, just make sure to pack some food and water, as there’s nothing but an old Monastery surrounded by cypress, palm, and olive trees on the island.
The Benedictine Monastery is perhaps the most interesting point on Lokrum Island. It existed from the 11th century until some point in the 15th century, at which point the Benedictine Monks were forced to leave the island. Popular legend states that, upon their eviction from the Island, the monks of Lokrum passed a curse onto anyone who possessed the island.
Walk along the 19th Century Botanical garden and if you're lucky enough you may even find some animals, including peacocks and guinea pigs!
The island is perfect for walking, exploring, and swimming and is a must-visit location when traveling to Dubrovnik.

Honestly, totally unaware of Game of Thrones 'till visited Croatia in 2016. Absolutely thrilled to discover scene locations by chance and realising I'd visited them when later watching GOT! Favourites include Gardens of Maximilian, Path of Paradise and of course "Kings Landing" Locrum Island was up there in top 5 trips in and around Dubrovnik.
    Thanks for great video.

Got to be honest… I was disappointed with Lokrum… yes it has its beauty but so does most of Croatia. There was a lot of walking on Lokrum but nothing too exciting to see. There is a little bit of history there but nothing you will remember in a week or two. Most other tourists with us had the same views and were disappointed. Also there is a price to visit. Nearly £50 for 2 of us. Everybody thought this was a bit extreme and overpriced. 3/10
