Those Korean housing assets really underline why this game ought to have medium density zones and not just low and high. Recent DLC has tried to reduce the "missing middle housing" a bit, but if you're playing vanilla and don't spend quite a bit of time actively addressing it by using district themes or ploppables, your city will end up with a lot of suburbs, a lot of skyscrapers, and very little in-between.
how would medium density work?

That’s why i end up making half the buildings in my city historical so they don’t upgrade to taller heights and there’s a blend between suburbs and the city

@@Craftycatz1289 I think the Wikipedia article for "Missing middle housing" explains the concept well. Medium density zoning would involve moderately-sized apartment blocks, typically 2-5 stories, and wall-to-wall buildings like the European building set, albeit not as traditionalist in the architectural style. The Korean buildings showcased in this video are great examples. They aren't single-family homes or villas, but they aren't apartment towers either.
Most cities out there (i.e. not in the US or Canada) tend to mostly consist of medium-density development. Cities Skylines cities tend to be quite diverse for a while as you play too, but if you let all your residential level up to the highest levels, most high-density buildings will be very large apartment towers. In large numbers, they create an unrealistically tall cityscape. Meanwhile, low-density buildings will be sprawling mansions, and there will be nothing between those two extremes. Hence the need for medium density to serve as a default "not a mansion, but not a skyscraper" option for players. It technically can be done at the moment, but it's a hassle that involves DLCs, district policies, and lots of fidgeting to prevent those huge apartment towers from popping up everywhere.

All they need now for trams is a tram equivalent to the highway. LRTs would be amazing to have linking separate tram networks together.

@@GamingBren Technically yes, though the speed limit is low. @Rohan Halle probably wants dedicated tram tracks at highway speeds.
@@dbclass4075 I thought so. Trams have a low top speed AFAIK, and that prevents highway-speed tram tracks from existing. I actually have two tram lines in my city, both of which are LRT for the most part. I may build more light rail in the future.

Thanks for this extensive view on the new content. Tram on Pedestrian roads is going to be so awesome, it's exactly the kind of thing trams where built for😍. I also like the details on some of the bike-lane-roads, seems like they added small concrete blocks separating the bike lane from the cars. You are quite right that human chirper is like the crowd in the balloons, a bit cringe-worthy 😄. But the plaza generally looks very nice, definitely worth picking up the Korean CCP IMO.
I agree with you, that chirper man plaza is terrifying. Everything else looks amazing. I kind of wish they'd included some of the skyscrapers as offices or high density residential so you could use them more than once though.
I was sort of 'meh' on the Korean pack, but after seeing the elementary school, crematorium and the incinerator; it's a must buy for me. I am a PS4 player, so these assets are huge. And I've already purchased the Skyscraper pack, but won't get a chance to play until later tonight. Thanks for the video!!

The new roads are awesome specially the ones with both the cycle and tram lanes. The joy in your voice when you showed the tram and ped roads xD Love the little apartments from the Korea theme and skyscrapers are badly needed for unmodded game. Good update for the game

Excellent assets! I love them, but I must say I'm disappointed that the Skyscrapers are unique buildings, I was hoping I could reuse them like the hotels from Mid Century Modern (Xbox here).
The new trams are a welcome sight & I'm very excited about them.

I wish they had mixed use zoning. Realistically a lot of skyscrapers are malls, with office buildings on top of them, apartment blocks on top of those, restaurant(s) on those, and maybe a mansion perched on the very top. They give you residential, commercial, and office space, bit these are just tourist attractions. Yeah, I know, just throw some RICO cubes inside, but it would be nice if you could do this without mods.

They have a great korean feel for the residential, especially with all the first story parking. Although with adding this, and people making above ground parking garages, would be cool to see someone add/make underground parking garages, that are standards in dense cities. As well korea does often have grated floor/metal beam multi-floor parking garages.

What I want next are varied cargo train stations. Having a unique cargo station styled for each industry area would be a nice addition #alliwantforchristmas

Simply being able to use various lengths of the same style of tram (yes, yes, without workshop assets at least) is such a neat little bonus and will make a city's public transport look a lot more cohesive!

I have CS on the PS4 and I was ecstatic when this was announced bc we have hardly ANY in the console version and obviously we can’t go on the steam workshop so this was definitely the best purchase I ever made for this game

I do have a question about the new trams and buses though… Yes, they did come with different sizes and capacity, but do other stats of theirs matter(like top speed and acceleration) like those from the VOTW? Or other than those two, the only thing matter is the vibe they gave?
As far as I'm aware their speeds are the same, I could be wrong though

Why are there no vanilla multi-function buildings, e.g. low commercial at base with offices above? Seems to me that most high rises are multifunction in real cities. I noticed a few in the workshop but would be nice to have a DLC of multi-function buildings.

I like that we are getting different footprints with this release. However I was hoping to see some more diversity in the building choices. Say some iconic skyscrapers can be found all over. Singapore has Pinnacle@Duxton and the Marina Bay Sands casino/resort. Taipei 101, Petronas Towers (Kuala Lumpur), Shanghai Tower, and Lotte World Tower (Seoul) are just a few that would standout than being a right rectangular prism. Maybe this is why we have the client is opened and we can design our own buildings. (Is there an issue with copyrights of why these towers were not named correctly?)

Hold on. These tall buildings operate as "unique buildings" meaning they only provide leisure. Can we change it to actually accommodate with office space, residencial, or commercial? IS it possible?

Previously on console I had a paradox plaza & cheap to place but a few months ago I cleaned out my system & reinstalled now I no longer have it, any explanation?
The Paradox plaza comes from linking your Cities profile to a Paradox account :) Guessing in your clean-up you lost the account sync!
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG it's sadness as I still show the account linked. Also curious in the psstore, I can't or ever could find after dark. When I purchased I bought the Deluxe edition to which I don't believe it was included, another wth moment 😏
I have had to turn certain expansions back on after a new update turned them “off” on my Xbox. Not sure what console you’re looking at, but if it is Xbox I went under “Manage Game” and had to manually turn a few of the DLCs back on.
As for After Dark, I think they might have simply merged it with the base game. I can never see it in DLC options, but I had all the After Dark content automatically when I bought CS the first time around.
