I'm sorry Lilian, as an Australian who lives on a rural property in the subtropics I was in stitches of laughter watching your spider travails. I know that was mean of me- as it was clearly terrifying for you. Hot Tip- it's not the spiders that make webs at head height that you need to worry about. By wearing open shoes, you were at far more risk of being bitten by bull ants, snakes or funnel web spiders.

Visited once during the cooler season, I don't remember seeing any snakes or spiders then and I hiked through the Australian marshes. I think summer is not the best to visit for those who fear wildlife.

Throwing a stick at a spider.😂 Just walk with a long stick so if you come across a web in your path you just clear it with your stick. It's not hard.

Those spiders were harmless just annoying when you accidently walk through their webs. As an Aussie this irrational fear that foreigners have about all the deadly snakes and spiders at least provides us with plenty of entertainment. Lucky you didnt run into one of those bloody drop bears or the spiders would have been the least of your worries. Long way to come to be put off by your bush walking adventure the natural scenery and the abundance of unique wildlife on this continent is probably its biggest attraction.
