- Hyundai is i30 Fastback is a liftback. It’s got an extended, falling roofline with a large boot lid. Extended, falling roofline and spoiler incorporated in the boot lid make Hyundai i30 Fastback look, under certain angle, like a Mercedes GLC Coupe or C Class Coupe. BTW, i30 Fastback is not a replacement for the Elantra. Elantra is made on a different platform, than the i30. i30 Fastback is just another, after hatchback and station wagon, body style, something for clients looking for a reasonably priced interesting-looking car.

I have the fastback 1.4 7DCT and the only noise you hear at speeds it's the one from tires and it's not that disturbing. The breaks and really good and i like the acceleration. It's a big difference betweewn ECO mode and Sport mode, the last one being very responsive.
I agree: brakes are just like Marek described in in the i30 hatchback review... to the point I could complain they are not modulable... you realy have to touch them gently.... i guess the review sample was flawed. Totally agree on the slow take off: thanks god I have a manual transmission...

Been looking for a good review of this car since it was released. Tried test driving it but they never got it in and now they dropped it from the line up here in Norway.
Nice review. But this was clearly a base model. The regular i30 comes with rear vents, and lots of other niceties if you option them. I suspect this one will too.
You say it's 25k. It's weird as I just bought top spec with all options for 26200, and it has leather heated and cooled seats with memory, panoramic roof, bi-led lights, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, parking cam, auto hold and plenty of other stuff.
there are air vents for the back seats, maybe you have to go to higher trim or they just removed the vents for Europe or some parts of it.
Not even available Sweden. We get the Fastback N in 2019. 250/275hp probably around €30,000+

The tested car looks like a kind of base version - no cooled seats, panoramic sunroof, lacks rear air vents and 12v socket, tiny screen and not equipped with both Android auto and whatever it's called for Apple addicts. Regarding the brakes - if adaptive cruise control has already started reducing the speed, be careful when touching the brake pedal - it becomes extremely sensitive. Sound insulation however isn't good indeed. Yet rear visibility is not a big deal as if you switch to sport mode, almost nobody will catch you. Tested on Polish E67 / A2 many times.
I've had this one in top spec for a year now and the only complaint is about the noise coming from arches. Adaptive cruise control plus lane assist is almost a perfect autopilot and even the sound system even though not as good as in some old Volvos isn't bad at all. Pefect car for a family of 4 or less.
When buying, was also considering KIA Proceed, but Hyundai turned out to have much better price/performance ratio. And unlike KIA, Hyundai has 7 years warranty with unlimited mileage. By the way, overpriced crap manufacturers like Mercedes Benz have 3 years / 70 000 km warranty.

I'm just in process of buying that car in snow white color with 7DCT and full equipment inside .... in Croatia is around 25.000 EUR ... a little bit more, because of State taxes in CO2 ... lol ... for us with the wife will be good, nice looking car ... our girls are now bigger and they have a separated life ...

no wonder they messed up the new elantra, probably they were trying to make way for this new iteration of the i30, i gotta say this looks super sick.
They wanted it to make it sportier... lowered the roof and ground clearance is lowered a bit plus stiffer suspension... Its really hard to find comfortable car these days with all the low profile tyres and firm suspensions around. Dont say this one should be comfortable but sometimes it feels like majority of cars are sold for weekend racetrack events. Would be nice if you could cover redesigned elantra and check if they implemented multilink in the back now.
This car has the audi kind of appeal. Its sad we don't have it in India yet

I like the design and Form of this car, but why are Hyundai intiriors still so black? I thought we past that period with only black intiriors. Contrast stitches or a little bit color inside the doors.
I believe it is because Audi and VW have black interiors. They really do mimic those brands with there designs. Just my opinion
because it is cheap to produce only black interiors, from R&D through to production.

Partly, it is seen as more practical and upmarket. However, for manufacturers it is still cheaper to manufacture single colour interiors than offer 3 or 4 colour options. However the Schreyer link will explain many of the exterior and interior design details.

Marek, I prefer MPV.SUV body styles as I am retired and getting down into and up out of a car is a hassle. I have just ordered a Citroen C4 Spacetourer 1.2 Puretech Flair. I also like the look of the fastback but the height bothers me.

Wait, in Europe Hyundai offers _BOTH_ i30 _AND_ Elantra? Two models in the compact class? I'm confused. I thought i30 was just the European model designation of North American Elantra. If not, Hyundai, please bring this to North America!
Elantra is not offered everywhere in Europe, only in eastern parts (a lot of men with moustaches think hatchbacks are for girls). And yes, Hyundai in Poland offers i30 hb/sw/fb, Elantra, and i40 sedan/sw. And Ioniq, which is somewhere between i30 fb and Elantra in terms of looks and size (albeit with an eco drivetrain).

For some reason they sell it in Spain, but not in Portugal, wich is a shame, because I really like the Elantra.

I have the fastback 1.0 turbo for 5 months , here in Greece it costs 19500 euro for the model with sat/nav , rear camera , 8 inch touchscreen , android auto ect. My brother bought the Audi A3 1.0 turbo the same time as i did for 24.500 euro. The fastback is superior to the A3 in ride comfort , handling and sound insulation , even my brother admits it. So dont listen to this VW fanboy poor excuse of a car journalist. He obviously is on a payroll and tries to undermine Korean cars. The only thing he is right about is that rear visibility from the glass is bad. Otherwise its a great car to own and with reliability VW can only dream about.

Συνηθως ειναι πολύ καλός και για το θέμα της μόνωσης τονίζει πως πρόκειται για πιο οικονομικό αυτοκίνητο και δεν το συγκρίνει με πολύ ακριβότερες μάρκες. Άλλωστε το γεγονός ότι τα μικρά της Audi είναι υπερτιμημένα, όποιος ασχολείται με αυτοκίνητα το γνωρίζει πολύ καλά. Κι εγώ ΚΙΑ έχω εδώ και 8 χρόνια και έχω πληρώσει μόνο ελαστικά και μπαταρίες. I disagree that headroom is the same as in the hatchback. I'm 192cm and when i considered buying the i30 i tied both and back in the fastback i had much less headroom. A complete deal breaker for me.

No, it's not. Elantra is bigger, on an older platform, and available regardless of the Fastback.
@@MarekDrives Old Elantras third generation were 5- door and aviable in my country, but new ones were not. They replace them with i-series and Ceed hatchback. Now this car come out and was marketed as compensation for Elantra.

Initially you made me not buy this car, but after some time I did buy it. And I can say that majority of stuff this man said about the car is not correct. Trying to be carwow I guess and nit picking into not needed and smallest details that no one really cares about

@@MarekDrivesENG The car is not noisy as you described (not so isolated). The price for this car should have been better propagated to the public, as what we get for the price is great. The bumps are just fine. Very comfortable car. The brakes are very responsive and good and also the turbo lag that you described is noticeable, yes, but its not being like you said "nothing nothing nothing and then you go". So all in all its almost an identical classic i30 with a little sportier suspension. To be clear I follow you and respect you and clearly your videos impact people choices, as mine as well, I just want to share that this video has made me not buy this car for a while until one day i got a great offer and said "f*** it lets do it" and I was amazed how I do not agree with stuff in the video. The car is phenomenal, especially for the price. As there are way more expensive cars that dont drive nor offer what this car does.

Because this one is just as I described. Value for money is a relative term. At the time of filming this wasn't competitively priced, especially taking into account the shortcomings I mentioned.
I liked the Elantra much better.
@@MarekDrivesENG I have a late 2019 Comfort model with 16inch tires. I paid 9500euro in Czechia for this car. It had 15 000 km
@lkkl6158 OK, it's hard to compare value of the then 25k euro high spec model vs. price of a used lower spec model.
As long as you're happy with your purchase, that's what counts.
Maybe tires make a difference. Though in the back it sounds like a tin, even when parked, and you listen to other cars passing you by.
I would never recommend a Mondeo Vignale to anyone, but I saw a base model for half the price, and it was brilliant.

Too noise, slow starter, not particularly fuel efficient or spacious and low visibility.
Noise and trunk space are probably the worst.
That screen is like a tamagotchi, it is sooo dated and low spec.
Interior is beyond cheap. And while I do like a good deal, this is still a full priced car, you can't have hard scratchy boring plastic all over. Just look how much better Skoda Octavia is.
