It’s like special skill that you can train up on a horse :) There are different potentials that people tend to favor for speed vs magic gameplay. While the magic potentials are generally useful, speed potentials are regarded as (almost) essential! You can obtain potentials through breeding with other horses that have potential(POT). Although it is complete rng that determines if a horse gets a potential (and specifically what potential it actually is), you can gradually increase the maximum stats once you build up a strong POT lineage. The highest it can get to is 100, which is only possible if you have a horse with high/maxed potential and breed it with another maxed potential (100x100). However, if it’s the first horse with potential in the lineage, the POT stat will probably be capped around 40 (even when it is maxed at level 11). All of these aspects make it quite difficult to obtain a grade 8 horse that has a high level, speed specific potential (and makes it even harder to get horses with specific a coat/mane/tail that fit all of the conditions).
