I randomly came across a "review" of his where he didn't even know how to operate the device he was reviewing. A true RTFM moment. And then he blamed the device. The weird part was the cheerleading from his followers, most of which had never used the device. This hobby brings out a bunch of unhappy people for some reason. Glad I came across your channel and thank you for being generous in sharing your knowledge and experience.

I am 64 year old retired registered Ford Technician. When our Garage sparky was busy With difficult electrical faults. We would fit Tape machines, 8 track, cassette gear. all car audio. He told us when ever possible. DO Not run speaker cables side by side with power cables for the item we fitted and the vehicle looms. Because they can cause electro magnetic equipment interference. I have solved problems due to that with customers with home fitted stereos. So I do not know how modern vehicles get around this Problem when they have 20 speakers. So what you say is true about the cables. Home use as well I try to keep my speaker and microphone cables away from each other. If not then cross power cables at right angles. So you are right again. @@joesshows6793 Yes, they do. I noticed a huge difference in my setup when i got a new power cable. The bass was tighter where it had been boomy before. With that improvement, i ordered another power cable for my DAC, and things sounded worse! Once i realized something was not sounding right, i swapped the new power cables around with each other, and it sounded better once again. It illustrated to me that not only do they make a difference, but where in the chain they are used, also has an effect. In my case, the new power cables were not identical. My first system back in 1977 was a Marantz receiver and Bose 901 series II speakers. I loved that system! So did my friends. It cranked and the music was powerful. I didn’t care about the hiss coming from the cheap eq that came with them. I didn’t care that the sound stage wasn’t perfect. I didn’t care they needed to be turned up to sound good. I loved the concert sound of those speakers.
But today, at 60 years old, I now have a taste for a refined, accurate system, with a deep sound stage. B&W provided this since my purchase in 1996.
I recently upgraded the crossovers using Danny’s components. OMG! We are back in business! Thank you! I had so much fun learning how to read a schematic and soldering. Very cool and satisfying.

I tried the rp600m upgrades, and they made me realize that this is it. U made those speakers sound so good, and now I am waiting for the xls encores, cause I want to have it 100% where the speaker is not held back by the drivers. But still the klipsch upgrades are so good that I would not gamble on any other speaker brands when these already are more than just good speakers now.
I am not an audiofile, but klipsch made my ears bleed, and a world of confusion just trying EQ and adding a sub. No matter what I did I could never get a good sound. That was apparent from the beginning that something was off. So much wasted money for something that cant play descent in fase music , something I did not understand at that time. I could only hear that something was off. So thank you. In the future I will probably go for one of your nx speakers for my main livingroom, cause I feel confident that I will only go upp with these speakers

    • @Rockit66
      @Rockit66 2 роки тому +1

@@dudemanismadcool I cant do blind tests after they are upgraded, but let me tell you something that as a guitarplayer thatIam good at, and that is listening to guitars. I love it, and that leada me to listen to a lot of rock and metal. For a long period I could not get the full enjoyement with this speakers cause guitars and punchynes of the mids were not there as on my headphones or my guitar amp. In the beginning I did not understand why that was and led me through a nighmareish attempt to adjust all settings everywhere on the reciever multiple times. Now it is easy, I can hear clear changes adjusting the EQ pluss when music has great production it some time makeme look up at the speakers when I hear how much more beautifull certain parts sound then before. I Still have a pair of Klipsch r820f which does have the same characteristics as the RP600m. And I hav plugged them in to show friends the difference, cause there is a lot that got better.
You know, 2 drivers that are not in fase can be compared to a guitar that is not tuned. A cord sounds bad.
And I have a pair of JBL 4312 that cost in the 200 dollar range when they were new that are placed in another room. I have compared them. They are very clear sounding but lack bass. Now my upgraded klipsch beat them on 95 % of the fullrange spectre. They are just a tad bit more detailed, but still the upgraded rp600s have something that I cant describe. They sound mor accurate. They are just better to listen too. And the easiest difference of them all is to turn up the volume quick for friends. With the klipsches, all of my friends kringe their eyes as the sharpness hurts when I do that. This does not happen with my upgrades. They just sound better and better the higher the volume gets. So if you dont believe this, I cant help much, but like I said in my previous message above. If the RP 600s are better as an upgrade, but cant reach full potential with the klipsch drivers, I just have to try the encores. And if they deliver, I am probably never gonna trust another speakerbrand before I hear them personally, cause I have lately noticed that bad sound has infiltrated not even hifi speakers, but also headphones marked and such. Many keep saying it is subjective, but when it gets as bad as klipsch has been, it is just a matter of knowing and understanding what to listen for, and I have a record collection closer to 2000 which I know how it is supposed to sound. The klipsches too away that enjoyement, but now it is back, and the even better then I remember. So there is no doubt in my mind that Danny knows how to elevate the sound correctly.
I am not saying the all brands are bad here, but I dont wana take any more chances with my money when this is way more than what I asked for.

      @Rockit66 2 роки тому

@@dudemanismadcool I would also like to add that there are multiple more ways that these speakers got better, but it is hard to remember everything while writing on the fly here. The last thing is that even I dont own a fancy setup I have 2 recievers in 2 different rooms. A Denon and Marantz which I cant remember the model name right now, but they are probably considered budget recievers. I can hear differences there to, but the speakers sound just as good at both, just some minor differences that dont actually take a way any details. Just a tonal difference and maybe more openess on the Marantz, but that might also be the room.

Because of inspiration from Danny, and WATT Audio, I rebuilt some cheap 1999 RCA three way floor speakers.
With some internal bracing, and all new drivers and crossovers, they actually sound decent.
I've already put more into them than I originally paid for them. ($500.00 total), they only cost $200.00 for the pair.
But hey, most hobbies don't make money, and several friends are totally impressed by the better sound.
Actually, I'm impressed if I don't say so myself.

Waaaay too much published research in the audio field proving listeners can hear more flaws in a speaker design listening to a single speaker over a stereo pair. Imaging matters, so listening to two speakers should happen at some point in the review, but if there are significant timbre and tonal flaws, who cares about the imaging. Don't believe me, try it for yourself. Compare two pairs of speakers then only compare one of each, you'll never compare in pairs again.

I believe most people do not understand metrics or measurements, or precession or accuracy.
Simply determining what to measure… how to measure… in what context… is none trivial & requires time & experience.
I used to manage High Performance Computing systems… one aspect of my job was monitoring…. You monitor for a lot of different reasons… you have a myriad of things you can measure… simply learning what’s useful or meaningful to monitor required a tremendous amount of work… over time… took me a year or more before I had a set of metrics that were worthwhile & continually need to update.
Most people have a difficult time even understanding what is being measured….
Mine was a digital environment… so, much easier than the analog environment you operate in…
I go into some data centers where they have a wall of cool graphs…. Realize, they’re really not telling you very much… but they sure look cool!
Anyway, I’m a person that has been dubious concerning some of your ‘Snake Oil’ … after building a few of your kits, your not wrong… I used to think the NoRez & Tube connectors were expensive for what they are…
    Yeah, completely reversed my opinion.
Having watched numerous videos you’ve published… I’ve come to really trust your ear… & your opinions….
That is, if Danny says it’s worthwhile… I’ll assume it is till proven wrong…

I just disregarded the 'other' video as bogus and never thought anymore about. I am happy to see this response. I often learn some new technical aspect from your videos and I have been an audiophile for over 40 years. It is clear that I have much to learn from a technical perspective. I have listened to hundreds of systems over the decades and in my experience listing to clarity, the depth and breadth of the soundstage is truly the best measurements of all. I would look at and read the tech specifications but I never had the technical background to evaluate what the specs really meant (if they were even legitimate). It was always the listening that would be the final determining factor. I just wanted to thank you again for your time and effort.

Agreed. This is why people don’t “test” the taste of wine with equipment of some kind, they actually taste it. Our ability to test a speaker is no where near our brain’s ability to process and “hear” the sound. I don’t have expensive cables, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think people can hear the difference. All these people that swear that if you can’t test it you can’t hear it should all go watch Ford v Ferrari. There is a scene where the engineers tell the driver they have done a bunch of tests and determined the optimal down force and suspension settings. The driver, using no test equipment other than his own brain tells them they are wrong, that he can “feel” the difference and he is proven to be correct. I am not against testing, but you have to use that in conjunction with actual listening.

I installed the GRR crossover in my Dynaudio Special 40’s and am VERY pleased with the results. But it was definitely a risk as the only to tell if a particular component or change will sound good to you is to listen in your system and room. Measurements can give you a general idea, but they don’t factor in your system, room, or musical preferences. I also can’t tell if I’ll like a recipe based on the ingredients alone, or a vehicle based on specifications alone. With that said, I really appreciate GRR for his honesty, approach, and my S40 crossover.

The best cable is no cable, the best amp is no amp, the best speaker is no speaker, the best mic is no mic. All this to say that recorded music is just a copy of the real thing. Therefore like a HD TV set, equipment is only trying to get out of the way as much as possible, true hifi equipment that is. No company will throw millions of dollars into their speakers only to have them not have a signature sound. The ONLY to get a speaker or equipment to get out of the way, is to build it and bypass the corporate bs. Come on guys. Don't be lead astray by blind fools. Danny and his crew and Ron are the source of truth, pun intended. Luv you guys!

What they don't understand is you have forgotten more about audio and design than they will ever know in their lifetime. All they do and know is what they see online, and they call that experience, wow, it's almost funny if it was not so sad. We that know the difference, know it when we see it. You are an industry icon in my humble opinion, up there with Andrew Jones. Just keep feeding us knowledge, we are soaking it up. And thank you for all your hard work, I mean that with all my heart.

When wiring Industrial machines is standard practice to separate high voltage A/C wiring from control wires to prevent the AC wire from inducing a voltage (noise) in the control wiring. If you have to cross the two sets of wires you need to cross at 90 degrees. The same physics apply to audio wires.

Hey Danny - I haven't had the opportunity to be a customer, but I've enjoyed your videos for a while. You're one of the few guys who gets it right and seems to understand the road to better sound, which helps you do it on a reasonable budget, and your good heart leads you to share that info. Everything can effect sound, and sometimes the small changes are hard to hear all by themselves, but like removing one water spot at a time from a window, they add up to give a clearer view. Keep up the great work....the naysayers will always be there, and the internet has given them the opportunity to band together and reinforce their views. That doesn't make them any more right. It's funny how the people who don't know how to setup their systems well, optimize what they have, and/or who can't hear the difference, tend to spend so much time telling you what you can or can't hear. Not everyone in the chorus can sing, or hear that they're off key. Ignore them and forge on!

The guy who tested the cable should have bought a basic Electricity book. As an electrician of too many years I know it really does matter. That’s why we separate Data cable from power. In industrial control panels Engineers will absolutely specify that when crossing power and signal wire it must be done it is at a right angle. Although total separation is preferred. Also, It’s how transformers work.

Hmm, interesting. Why did you even bother Danny ? If you're going to put product out there, then you're gonna get critique, either positive or negative for any number of reasons - ya gotta have a thick skin in this business.
I watch both you guys channels and whilst I do not fully agree with ASR's measuremenrts o only based approach, I would never go so far as to say he does not know how to use the measuring equipment or interpret the results.
You guys measure things differently and as such, there are going to be some differences in the results derived. But your reaction to ASR's somewhat not so p[ositive review of the LGK is surprising, seeing as how you dish out the same to many well known and respected speaker manufacturers in your speaker upgrade posts.
BTW, a fully finished pair of the LGK shipped to Canada with taxes and duties, I'm assuming would be around $1250 US which equates around CA $1620. For an extra CA $400 it's possibke to get a pair of the 85th Anniversary Wharfedale Lintons. Given that, I wonder what the choice would be here.

I don't have any skin in the game here but it would seem for someone that doesn't care what these people say, that you in fact are really bothered by it.My life experience has taught me that when someone responds so defensively there's usually some truth being told. These people have always existed and frankly., the people that are your audience and customers are already apt to ignore them, so why bother? I did for reference go out and try to find some of the people you were talking about and I have to say that the guy your have the biggest problem with is very calm, methodical and not denigrating you in the personal ways you seem to suggest. Aside from wether power cables can have an impact on the sound is beside the point when the cable you send out has some obvious short comings in functional design and usability. I love the hobby of audio. I've been buying equipment since the early 80's and have always had a skeptical eye towards some of the claims being made by a myriad of products. I've tried lot's of different cables and cords and frankly have never heard the claimed improvements especially in power cords. If you're thoughtful in how you route things in setup, there really shouldn't be audible differences but hey, that's my opinion. If I have an extra couple grand laying around I'm going to use it to upgrade something that can have a more profound impact on overall sound. Room treatment, a new cartridge or DAC or investments in well pressed vinyl or just exploring new music seems to me a much better way to spend money and time. Anyway, your video has really turned me off to you and any chance I may have explored purchasing what you have to offer. No offense but grow up and stop being a whiny victim.

about the cabling is a bit short sighted i am afraid. the way cables are crossed etc does matter depending on what kind of cables and what they are used for. a power cable for a 3.6KW or 6KW ballast for a film shoot (that has quite some noise as well). you cannot run along a microphone cable (often still possible) a microphone though is quite the difference compared to a speaker cable with Much much much higher voltages and a very in efficient transducer on the other end.. 1 Millivolt - up to 100 millivolt . your speaker wont make much noise at lets say 50 millivolt or even 100 millivolt. even in a mic cable running along a 6kw cable you get interference its not swamping the mic signal so what the heck is it going to do when voltages in a speaker cable are more in the region of volts. maybe if you got a 100dB efficient speaker and a 6KW balast in your room and lay the cable along the whole length it might be noise you hear from the power cable...
a measurement of a speaker is also a review. maybe not one you like. but it still is a review. you cant debate about most reviews are subjective , and what the reviewer likes might end up being a good review or a bad one.. ??
