After visiting Tepoztlán, Morelos we made the 2-hour drive to Taxco, Guerrero. This is a Pueblo Mágico (Magic Town) we've wanted to visit for a LONG time and it didn't disappoint. In today's Mexico vlog, we're sharing some of our favorite experiences of the trip:
    - Checking out the Saturday silver market (Taxco is a former mining town known for its silver)
    - Sampling some of the local cuisine, like mezcal from Guerrero and Pozole Verde at Pozoleria Tia Felix
    - Getting lost in the streets of Taxco which are like a drunken spider web
    - Enjoying the spectacular views of the city from various lookout points-the whitewashed buildings, red tile roofs, and mountains were so beautiful!
    - Taking a few cab rides in the typical VW taxis
    - Looking at the colorful and hand-crafted artesanías (handicrafts) like painted hats, VW bug piggie banks, and mugs
    - Enjoying some drinks on 2nd story balconies with views of Santa Prisca church
    - Staying at a historic rental with a 250-year old tree and great views (Airbnb listing: www.airbnb.com...)
Suffice it to say, this week was INCREDIBLE and we can't wait to travel back to Taxco, Guerrero again. One week just wasn't enough.

Guys 3:30 Juan Ruiz de Alarcón is one of the best dramaturges of the Spanish Golden Age of literature and he was born in Taxco. You should check out at least some of his poems too, to get a glimpse into Spanish Baroque literature. Baroque was a so influential in New Spain and the Spanish Empire, that it even permeated from the arts to food and even to Mexican courtesy and manners.

The silver can be overwhelming - I finally went into a very small shop just to not have so many choices. Now I want to wear the earrings I got 15 years ago! I also remember having a delicious meal (some kind of caldo) in a hotel restaurant with an amazing view. You did a great job showcasing the town!

The white wash gives the town a clean crisp look. I love your hat Maddie. I enjoyed seeing the vendors' hats with the beautiful flowers on them. I really enjoyed going into the market seeing all the beautiful ornaments in jewelry. The bird & dolphins were unique in materials used to make them. Just beautiful! Love Jordan's new shirt too! Loved seeing Laska, & how cute she was playing soccer with the kids. I loved seeing the Jesus statue, & looking back down on the city. Such a peaceful feeling it omits. The Church is beautiful. Would have liked to have seen inside it. Was good to see you both, I really enjoy your video. Have a nice week.

Thanks for your trip around Taxco. We were there long long ago on a trip to Mexico City, Cuernavaca, Taxco and Acapulco. It was our first foreign vacation and we fell in love with Taxco and the Cathedral. There was a local lady making tortillas over a charcoal grill. Gorgeous in the evening.

I was in Taxco in the 80's. I thought at the time that it was such a romantic town. We visited a store to talk about how silver jewelry is made there. I studied Spanish in Cuernavaca, another beautiful city.

I stayed in the same Airbnb except my place was the one with the large private terrace closest to the center with a view to the cathedral. I was there for more than a month. I never got bored in the city.Something I don’t think you mentioned was an American named William Spratling kind of restarted the silver trade in taxco. He moved there and started making jewelry and interesting things out of the silver which then turned the town into a center for artistic silver work. The place you stayed was owned by him. The woman who runs and owns the place you stayed is the daughter of a friend of Spratling. He ended up buying a ranch outside of Taxco well as all the buildings where you were so in a way you were in a cultural center of the town without even knowing it perhaps.

For me I think the coolest and cutest thing is when your walking through town and those little streets (back allies ) that have little shops you don't really find stuff like that in the US it's just big city and one big street that sells stuff I so like the uniqueness and art of it all it makes it extra special to spend the day walking around
